Hey guys.
Wanachi - I agree with the others. If you love the shop dress go for it, but if it is a certain part speak to your dressmaker and see what they can do.
Today we have tried to sort out the guest list and think we are finally there. We have 106 guests (of which 21 of them are children). Started doing seating plan (we know majority are coming as family) and got so stressed as have 6 floaters who don't fit anywhere xx0 -
And I agree with them all too Wanchai!!
Tracey - eeek - could you put the floaters together on a table? Lol you could even call it the floaters table lol.
Last day at work tomorrow - hurrah!!0 -
I love the shop dress 100%
but it's £1,300!!!!!! I'm so torn. Have spent all day tidying and decluttering in an effort to take my mind off it. I even decluttered my underwear drawer lol! I have no pics of the dress as the design is exclusive to this shop, but will find one that's as close as possible and post it on here.
Haven't even thought about our table plan yet, ah well, will do it over Christmas perhaps! Lol at the floater table!
FutireCooper - love the lavender, twine and buttons idea! Have you got a pic? Xx7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

Yes £1300 is a lot of money - BUT it is your wedding day!! The one day you can splash out on a dress and feel amazing. Personally I think given how much stress you've felt over finding a dress then I think you should get it even if that means something else has to go. Here's what I would do. Get a coin - assign dress maker to heads, and the £1300 dress to tails. Flip it. See what comes up and take note of your first reaction. If you feel gutted and wish it was the other then you know it is that one you must choose. If you feel relieved and happy then you can take that flip. Does that make sense? I'm not saying you choose which ever is flipped - heads or tails. But that you use that to provoke a reaction which will tell you which dress you want the most.
Hurrah last day at work today0 -
and I agree wholeheatedly with MrsDrink!!
You do NOT want to be sat at your wedding reception wishing you'd splashed out on the other dress
Neither do you want to be sat there wishing you'd bought the cheaper dress and used the money for someting different.
Not very MSE, but its your one and only wedding day, and you need to feel like one million dollars all day - go with your heart

BUY THE DRESS, Wanchai!!!!! Its the one that you are comparing everything else too. It's THE one so you must except you have expensive taste!! The photos and memories of that feel good feeling will last forever.
Well I'm having a day to myself before H2B breaks for Xmas. So I'm buying the stocking items for the kids and have managed to get myself a dress and 2 cardigans so far! I really must focus on Xmas and not me.
Enjoy your last day Natalie, and Wanchai I'll take a pic for you. It's so simple but looks lovely and I'm thinking of having them laid on my napkins for each guest.0 -
Morning all!!!
The diet is still on track! OH made a tasty curry for dinner last night so I was a bit 'bad', but now I'm back on the wagon and WILL not be deterred!I forgot to WI this morning though, oops :rotfl:
MrsD - yay for your last day at work, lucky you!!!What weddingy things have you got planned over the Christmas period?

Thanks nickki. Actually, you may be able to give me the benefit of hindsight, as it were.Do you regret spending the money you did on your wedding dress, or was it worth every penny? Obviously I don't know how much your dress cost or whether it was over budget, but it would be interesting to know. I will want to keep my dress, I know that already -and so I want to know whether I am likely to consider it a waste of money if I do blow the budget on it.
But you are all right - it *is* my wedding day and I can always make sacrifices and scrimp elsewhere to justify the cost of this dress! I can afford it - just need to ask myself whether it's worth it. But as you all say, it's better to spend £1,300 (eek) on a dress that I love than £500 on a dress that doesn't feel quite right.7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

Oooh, cross-posted!Thanks for your wise words - they put a big smile on my face. I do love that dress - no other dress has even come close, so yes, it is 'the one'. I can't believe that I finally found my dress!!! I should really stop being so MSE about it and allow myself to have my dream dress!
LOL at your Christmas shopping being thrown off track by pretty things for you! :rotfl:
Can't wait to see the pic - I love lavender. I want something similar for our napkinsxxx

It was more than double my budget!!
I had only budgeted £300 (wanted a Grecian Style dress) but this was was £700 from a Bridal Outlet  (I think it was supposed to be £1200/£1300 new), so I had to buy the one i tried on (luckily it fit perfectly - it was meant to be!!) and take it that day.
I rang my OH and told him i'd found THE dress, but I couldn't buy it because of the price - and he told me to just buy it - we'd manage somehow - and we did...
So I bought it, and absolutely don't regret it.
I loved the dress - felt magnificent in it, and the more people complimented me and my dress, the more magnificent I felt!!
I still look at it, and the photo's, and grin like a fool!
My dress was worth every penny because i knew it was the one.
I would have been happy with a cheaper dress, but I wouldn't have been magnificent (if you know what I mean?)
I hope this makes sense (it does in my head!) and doesn't make me sound like some vain, big headed "look at me" type, because i'm really not.
I'm usually quite a shy person, with very poor body image and HATE having my photo taken, and HATE looking at photo's of me - but somehow, in that dress (and with an excellent make-up artist!) I really WAS the most beautiful woman in the room, and in the photo's.
I'm also keeping my dress (another £100 to clean and box it!) but we are planning to have anniversary photo's taken each year (providing it still fits of course!)
Hope this helps!

Looks like everyone has been busy recently, I've not done a lot wedding wise and the invites have taken a back seat until the Christmas hols. I finish on Thursday lunchtime, and am contemplating wondering down to Oxford Street to soak up the atmosphere, as well as watch everyone last minute shop... then don't go back until 3 January, hoping it won't be too quiet, should have had some marks in to enter by that point.
Maybe if it really is that quiet I should take in my invites to make at my desk.... don't think the big boss will like it though
Just need to decide which baby flower girl dress to get from Monsoon - I really like three of them.. but can't decide.... choosing my dress was so much easier!
Best get on with emailing the PG applicants to ask them for more information, which they forgot to include.0
