    Morning all :D

I met the dressmaker last night, she was still a bit strange tbh :rotfl: but someone has recommended another one - I called her up, and she was so lovely and chatty on the phone. I'm going to meet her next week. She charges £350 plus fabric to make a wedding dress - is that good?

Anyhoo, this evening I am going back to the shop from Saturday - they have some new dresses in, so will check them out. I know that I should probably just leave the dress shopping for now, but I am feeling more confident in myself since taking positive action. I just had a small dinner last night (with a teeeeny glass of wine :o ) and no snacks, and the same today! I can do this! :A
Natalie- its over 8 months ago! Can imagine if the next 8 months go that quickly- Ill be on honeymoon before I know it!:D

Oh I am soooooooo hungry- got in from the gym and dinner isnt ready yet- tut tut! Im trying not to snack!!

I find the worst time for snacking is at work- if I can stop snacking there then I will be ok- I try and only take healthy snacks in with me and no money to buy crisps or chocolate!!

Oh youll be eating cheesecake all over christmas then!

What is everyones plans for christmas? Im going to ohs mum christmas eve, his brother will be home and we havent seen him in ages (lives in london and is in oz at the mo) then christmas day we are going to my mums and maybe ohs parents friends in the evening.

I'll be doing what I always do - going to my mum's for Christmas. Couldn't imagine ever doing anything else, even after I'm married!! OH will go to his family and will visit me over Christmas (our families live about 50 miles apart). I love just getting home and relaxing for a week, it is fab. This will be my last Christmas as a single gal - and we only got engaged this year - so I'm sure that there will be lots of visiting, visitors and fun!

Good strategy for work - if the junk isn't there then we can't eat it!! :T

  • Morning Ladies . . . . 6 more get ups before i break up for Xmas.

I always spend Christmas day at home with my kids. I made the rule up when they were babies as i didn't want to be trailling them around houses when they wanted to be at home with all their new toys. My family live 120 miles in one direction.
Now i'm with H2B it is no different as his family live 120 miles in the other direction! His family won't travel due to his mums agrophobia, so needless to say we have to go down there.
So Christmas day is at home with me cooking. Boxing day is always a drive to the coast (Hunstanton) and a long walk along the seafront followed by a bag of chips and slot machines.

Taking my BM (daughter) late night shopping tonight so we can have a look at jewellery (and xmas stuff as well!!) for her. I am tempted to make her wear a small tiara as i am not having one and her hair is a really blunt bob and thick fringe, think Jessie J, so it would suit her style.

Countdown time for LauraLou - the next 3 weeks may drag but enjoy the rest and sleep while you can! Fingers crossed for a Xmas baby, however having had a baby on the 15th of December he always moans that he dips out on good presents because people buy him 'share' gifts!

Wanchai - you really aren't having much dress luck are you!! Do you think someone is trying to tell you something -like that beautiful monsoon dress is the one. I am really pleased to hear that you are feeling more positive and that you actions are making you fel better already. Weight is all a state of mind. . . you can do it and i am certain you will and you'll feel a million dollars in any dress.

I can't believe you spend Xmas without your OH. Don't you go to your family together and then on to his family together? Will this change after you become Mrs?

    welcome back!!!
  • Wanchai- I would see how the meeting goes next week, I have no idea about the cost of material but her actual making of the dress doesnt sound too bad at all.

Hope you have a fun and successful shopping trip tonight Melanie.

Well Ive been very good for the last 24 hours and no stomach pains so I think it was my bodies way of insisting I start being good!!:D

Tracey- I bet your baby ends up supporting a completely different team when its old enough!! (or will hate football)! btw im with your oh on his choice of team!!:rotfl:

I have never spent Christmas with OH - my mum's widowed (so is his) and I would never want to spend Christmas away from home mainly for that reason. It'll be different if we have children obviously - I'll probably ask my mum (and his) to come to us for Christmas. But for now we're happy the way we are! My friend got married last year and they each went to their own families for Christmas, and said that they will do so until they have kids! Are we weird? lol

Re the dress - I know, I know. The universe is giving me a big message and I am not listening!!! :rotfl:The Monsoon dress *is* gorgeous (this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220901687574?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2648, for those who haven't seen it yet :o ) and I am glad that I have it as a backup dress, but I just have a feeling that my dress is out there. The one I like the most so far in the shops is a scary £1,200 eek!!! I'm torn between (1) being MSE and (2) splurging on the dress, as I'm only going to get married once (I hope! :rotfl: ).

Enjoy the shopping trip. :) I think your daughter would really suit a tiara with such a trendy hairstyle! :D Does she want to wear one? xx

Glad you're feeling better - what have you cut out over the last 24 hours then? xx

I don't know how much the fabric will be either lol.

What do you reckon the fabrics are in this dress? That's the one I want to get made. I'm struggling to identify the skirt/sash fabric!

  • Not weird at all Wanchai - everyone has there own way. Knowing your mum is widowed makes a difference too and i think the idea of having both mum's to yours when you have your own family is lovely.

This is only my second Xmas with H2B so it still feels new!!

I do love the monsoon dress although i couldn't open the link and i also love the other one. I love the cap sleeves and bandeau detail. Lush. I saw a stunning one in a bridal magazine last night i'll have to see if i can find it on the internet as it is very similiar but shape but not capped sleeves.

    They are BOTH gorgeous dresses!!

I LOVE the Monsoon one - but I think the bottom of the peonies one is stunning! so different (and more practical!) to the usual dress

I'm sure you'll look and feel fantastic whichever dress you choose - but go for the one you want the most, you don't want to be regretting NOT doing it on your day
