Hi ladies! I'm also getting married in July next year! the date is Sun 29th. :j
Have not done that much... especially as everybody here is sooo organised! We have the church and venue booked (catering included etc), dj booked, sent save the date emails, chosen my bridesmaids, dried some rose petals (although I doubt they will still be the same colour next July...), and am making my wedding dress! http://smoonbeam.blogspot.com
Depending on how that goes, I may make my veil, bridesmaid's dress (I have 2 bridesmaids, one of them is a guy) and perhaps the waistcoats for the boys... we'll see though!
oh I also bought the shoes and a bag, and the wedding tree from John Lewis when it was in the sale! but that's about it... certainly have not got round to thinking about buttonholes!0 -

Hiya! Welcome to the July thread - it's a bit quiet at the minute but make sure you are around during the school holidays because it explodes then! (Except my school holidays are different to everyone elses, boo).
What are the rose petals being dried for? Well done for making your own dress, :T OMG if I did that I'd end up in a bin bag on the day!
Hope everyone is ok anyway, I haven't been on for a while as I've been stupidly busy - can't believe how fast the days and weeks are going!
Our half term starts next friday  and for once I'm not looking forward to it, simply because I know there is a 8 and a half week term coming up afterwards!:eek:
One job that I have planned over the h/t is to go and visit the pub and see how the renovation plans are coming on - I want to know asap what the space will be and the types of tables so I can start looking at how much space there will be.
The button bouquets are looking lovely, ladies! I think they are so effective, miles more interesting than traditional flowers! As you know I am not a fan of flowers lol even though I'll be having fake ones because I'm too lazy to be arsed making something like that!
I have been taking photos of a couple of make up looks that I've been trying out - not really specifically wedding looks as such, but just things that I think might be adaptable.
Might post them in a minute so you can see what you think!

Welcome wxy - wow to making your own wedding dress! I am sooo impressed. What a skill. I am hoping i read your post wrong in that you may make the 2 bridesmaid dresses, but 1 of them is a guy!! Will he wear a dress?!! Hahaha can not wait to see those pictures. (only joking)
I have to confess ladies I am having a slight Bridezilla momentNever thought i would . . . . but i went to view the Hotel this evening and they omitted originally to tell me that i would have all these extra charges. As i am hiring their restaurant i didn't expect to have to pay to use their napkins!!! Pay to have their table cloths, pay a ridiculous corkage charge etc etc. (OK i knew about the corkage) Ooh then just to tip me in to Bridezilla mode they are planning to have a disco in their bar that night just to clash nicely with the live band we have booked!! AAArrrggghhh. Still chin up and battle on as there is nothing i can do about it, so if i stamp my feet for a while now, by July 27th i'll have got over it!!
Shopping day tomorrow and going to see a lush bridal shop that has walls full of wedding accessories - i want to see if i can find something for my hair.0 -
That's well cheeky of them? Surely they can't charge you for the basics like napkins? I'd be tempted to try and find some cheaper elsewhere and tell them to sod it! There are some very pretty paper napkins about!
I think you are right though about getting it out of your system now, I reckon that on the day we won't notice half of these things we are all stressing about!
I have just been trying to uplaod some photos but can't seem to access normal photo bucket - it takes me directly to the mobile site? Is it happening to anyone else?

Ah-ha ok get set for some pictures of my eyes! LOL.
This is the first look I tried out - it's a very pale Urban Decay taupe shadow across the lid with No7 'truffle' in the crease - I've used No7 eyeliner in Metallic Black on the upper and lower lash line, and highlighted with 17 in Rose Gold. Mascara is No7 Lash Adapt (not a very nice mascara, if anyone was considering trying it! - I need to use it up!)
The first photo looks a bit glittery because of the remains of my previous make up! I don't usually go out looking like a disco queen! The second is blurry but shows the lid properly.

This look is a slightly different one, using the same Urban Decay base colour with a No7 (yes I get too many Boots vouchers!) shadow in Khaki in the crease, and No7 eye pencil in Camouflage. Same mascara.
Please ignore the messy hair!

Welcome wxy. You sound like you do have a lot organised already. Ill have a look at your blog in a mo.
Mel- I like both of the colours/ style that youve done.
Melanie- thats not bridezilla, thats really unfair they hadnt told you about the extra charges and the fact your band will be competing against the noise levels of the disco. Our venue charge for tablecloths/ napkins if they dont do the catering- if they do the catering its all included. Oh good luck looking at pretty accessories.
Well ive just got back from our venue, wanted to go in with oh to go through catering and confirm they will definately be doing it all for us, so thats all fine, its going to be £1 extra per head for the cold meat buffet so now £12 a head which is still really good (includes table cloths, napkins, they set it all up for us). So glad we went in- theres a new manager who got out the diary and the previous manager only had us down as an enquiry! No booking form, no mention we had paid a deposit so ive got to go back tomorrow with my form and also pay the deposit for the caterers. So glad we popped in, otherwise they could had double booked us.!0 -
Hi guys,
Sorry not much to report on wedding wise - but hurrah we've been and collected our wetsuits - 2 weeks tomorrow and well be jetting off - I cannot wait!! Will get MrD to take a photo of me in it.
Wxy - welcomeThis is the bestest month to get married in - lol not that I'm biased at all. I am VERY impressed that you are making your own dress - what a great MSE thing to do!! How did you decide what style to go for? Did you go to bridal shops and try some on so you knew what'd suit you?
Mel - I agree with Emma - they are both fab - but I think I prefer the colouring of the first - it looks brighter if that makes sense? Lol I am very impressed that you did them on your own!! Any tips?!?!?!
Melanie - do you have any paper work from your original contract with your venue about what was and wasn't included? That may give you some leverage in telling them to sod off with their extra charges!
Emma - Glad you are now officially booked - again.
Right I'm off to go look at my wetsuit
(PS my phone was attempted to be delivered today - sods law we weren't in - so I have to 'pop' to Lincoln after work on Monday to go collect it! I cannot wait!)0 -
:j at collecting the wetsuit, and:j that its 2 weeks tomorrow! Oh what phone did you go for? Im looking at upgrading at the mo and cant decide what to go for!
Thanks, I am so glad we went in today otherwise it could have been very stressful if someone else had gone and booked on our date. I think we have also decided that we are going to have round tables and we are going to be on a round table with chief bridesmaid, her oh, best man and then our friend and his girlfriend who are very good friends of ours, oh doesnt want a traditional head table so I think this will be a good alternative for us, and I would rather it be on a round table as its more sociable! It may mean ill be having tall lilly vases with flowers now rather than fishbowls but ill have to chat with mil2b!
Oh and chief bridesmaids shoes came today- I really really like them, so much so Im thinking if she doesnt like them Ill be very tempted to keep them for myself and go for ivory shoes!!0 -
Shoe piccies!!!
Cor that is a lot of decisions you've made! But I bet you feel great now you've decided on having round tables. I think your version of a 'top table' sounds fab to me. And I agree - round tables are more sociable - you can chat to everyone rather than just the people immediately next to you and opposite you.
