High revs 'flares' on Corsa S

just asked my friend at vauxhall and he said hes seen it on the VXR's and it was always said that it was to ensure that all the fuel residue is burnt ready for the next part of accelerating to ensure there is no hesitation

they are saying that the switch tells the ecu to up the revs before the gear change still sounds a bit queer to me0

I purchased a brand new Corsa S from a well known vauxhall dealership in march 2010. After a few weeks I found that I was getting high revs, described as 'flares' when changing up through the gears.After six long months of the car going back and forth to the dealership and vauxhall it was replaced for a new one. I now have the same problem with the new one.
Is this a problem with modern engines?. I am getting as high as 1000 extra revs when going from first to second gear.
I would like to know if anyone else has ahd this problem, or is it just me.Changing up from first to second the revs counter go up another 1000 revs. The corsa that this one replaced was even worse. Initially the cars were driving perfectly, then after a few weeks we get this problem.After forty years driving?. this looks like the old dogs and new tricks theory
After 40 years i'd expect someone to know that rev's = per minute
so if your throttle counter increases when you change, unless it takes you a whole minute to change gear then i expect the engine isn't actually giving you 1k of extra revsIf Adam and Eve were created first

I read the OP post to mean that when he pushes the clutch in to change gear the rev counter reading rises unprovoked by 1000 or so. ie say from 800 to 1,800 rpm, How did you construe it then.You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0 -

if it takes a car 1 minute to increase revs by 1000 none of us would ever get anywhere lol0 -

He stated that when he changes gear his car gives him an extra 1k of revs.
an extra 1k of revs would take 1000 revolutions of the crankshaft and take 60 seconds.
I never construed anything just pointed out the basicsIf Adam and Eve were created first

If you drive down the road at 2k rpm
it would take 2,000 revolutions to to have completed 2k
that would also take one minute to complete.
A rev counter does not mean that as soon as your at 2k then you've just done 2k rpm

yes but effectivly the engine is now doing 1000rpm more
same as if you went from 20mph to 30mph you would say your not becuase you havent gone 30 miles yet
