Common sense would seem to dictate that those who pay for a service should be entitled to rather better conditions thatn those who simply get it for free by default.:D

"Marleyboy you are a legend!"
MarleyBoy "You are the Greatest"
Marleyboy You Are A Legend!
Marleyboy speaks sense
marleyboy (total legend)
Marleyboy - You are, indeed, a legend.0 -
Dont think for one second that just because you have read some pro cycling tat that anyone else has, you as a cyclist are the most vulnerable person on the road, it may not be fair or right but it is a fact. Cyclists do not pay road tax, and in the main are a set of ignoramuses, who most other road users hate with a passion, second only to horse riders of course.I for one am sick of 40 something lycra clad !!!!!! in a group of twenty blocking the road riding three abreast.0

No amount of signalling will make it safe if a motor is overtaking you.0 -
Your ignorance shows if you think cyclecraft is pro cycling tat. What some guy posted on a cycling forum yes, but cyclecraft is the cyclists bible.0

You shouldn't be overtaking me in a truck on the inside of a traffic island! That's stupid! I'm obviously not going to risk my life stopping someone if they're determined to overtake stupidly, they'll just get a blast on my airzound after, but if I can stop it safely beforehand...
Why not? It's very rare that the road narrows to such an extent that there isn't room (assuming the cyclist isn't trying to get in the middle of the road).
Would I even hear (much less care about) your 'airzound'?0 -
Harry_Flashman wrote: »So why would that matter to a non-cyclist?
It wouldn't, but its not pro cycling tat.Harry_Flashman wrote: »Why not? It's very rare that the road narrows to such an extent that there isn't room (assuming the cyclist isn't trying to get in the middle of the road).
No it isn't, when there's a traffic island, and you're meant to give the cyclist at least 3 feet.

As I said before, motorists do not pay anything more than cyclists to use the road. You choose to pay extra so you can drive a vehicle that damages the environment by polluting it with noxious gasses.
The fact that you are paying for this privilege shows that your antisocial actions are worthy of discouragement.
Cyclists do not require large trunk roads and motorways. It is at the behest of motorists that large parts of our beautiful landscape are desecrated forever.
Cyclists improve their health by cycling, reducing their burden on the NHS. Drivers reduce everyone's health by causing pollution. As I also mentioned previously, drivers are likely to cause more fatal collisions than cyclists too.
If you're happy to pay more to bulldoze our green spaces, spurt out polluting gasses, and increase the liklihood of killing someone in an accident then, quite frankly, you're not paying enough.0 -
