one other thing i wanted to add, ( i know a long way off yet) but breastfeeding did wonders for my depression after i had baby ( i know not everyone can) but it really helped keep my mood balanced afterwards.
Also see if you can ring the reception and ask if you can have an emergency appointment, (explain situation) this is what i did when I got my positive preg test and they saw me the same after noon. (sorry was in a rush - little one woke up)0 -
My doctors are closed this afternoon for staff training, as i called them as soon as i saw the positive result! And not open now till monday morning. I could call the out of hours doctors, but would rather see my own doc who has all my notes and background on my medication etc. Also hoping that by monday the shock has calmed down a bit and i might actually no what i want to do.0

Just wanted to say congratulations and try not to worry. Your feelings will probably be all over the place due to your hormones, but there is always someone on here to listen if you need to talk. Good luck. xx2017 - no clutter to be seen challenge: 72/2017

If you need some reassurance in the meantime you could try calling NHS direct - see here for details http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/0

Obviously we don't know your full mental health history, but I would very much doubt a doctor would suggest an abortion either because of the drugs you have been taking or your ability to cope with the pregnancy. To tackle the first issue, as Belfastgirl said, everyone is over-cautious with pregnant women and many drugs are said to be off-limits simply because they haven't been tested in pregnancy, not because they cause damage.
Take the time tonight and over the weekend to get yourself used to the idea, its bound to be a shock (it is for many of us even when we plan the event - suddenly thinking your world is going to be turned upside down). Discuss with your partner and think through yourself what you want and how you might address any issues that may arise due to your condition. Then when you go to the doctors on Monday they will be able to advise on the medical front re any changes in medication or checks on the baby that may be required. Good luck with whatever you decide. We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
Monday will be here before you know it. BY which time you and your partner will have had some time to think things through about what you want to do. When I worked in the mat unit (i'm a Midwife), we had shared ante-natal clinics with an obstetrician and psychiatrist to ensure that things were monitored as well as they could be in the case of MH for both mum and baby.0

I would speak to your doctor early next week. I cant imagine he/she would just advise on abortion without looking at other options first. Much more likely is that your medication will be checked to see if it is safe to take whilst pregnant and changed if neccessarry.
Im sure all this has come as a shock to you. Take time to chat to your partner and see how you feel in a couple of days.0 -
Is there an information leaflet that comes with your medication? Normally on there it would state whether it is safe to take whilst pregnant. If you phone NHS direct and told them the name of your medication that may be able to put your mind at rest.0
