Hi,
I meant to post the recipe on the OS weightloss thread as well! I'll have to lok it up tonight but the basic idea was rolled oats, dates, chopped walnuts, spices ("warm" eg cinnamon, mixed spice), honey and I think an egg to bind.
They're very nice!
I'll re-post later today"She who asks is a fool once. She who never asks is a fool forever"

Here we are:
200g oats (rolled)
50g chopped dates / raisins
25g chopped walnuts
2 tsp mixed spice
2 - 3 tbsp honey
100ml milk
2 egg yolks
Plonk in bowl, mix well, squash into greased tin, bake at Gas 4 (ish) for 20-30 minutes.
I often forget it says egg YOLKS and crack in the whole egg  it comes out fine"She who asks is a fool once. She who never asks is a fool forever"

I do
Makes 12 (I always quadruple)
Melt together
3 oz demerara sugar
1 tbsp golden syrup
4 oz butter
Add
8 oz porridge oats
Mix together and press into a well greased (reusable liner is good here) tin about 9'' x 12''
Bake at 190c (170 fan) for 25 mins.
Leave to cool in the tin then turn upside down and bang -it should come out in one piece. Cut into bars.
I add dried fruit like apricots and cranberries, and seeds too.0 -
mine is as above but 30z white sugar and 2 tbspn of syrup. I sometimes replace half the syrup with black treacle - v scrummy.0

The recipe I always use is:
8oz butter
8oz sugar
2tbs golden syrup
12 oz oats
good pinch of salt
This makes quite a sticky flapjack and the salt makes a HUGE difference to the taste! I got the recipe years ago from a Nigel Slater column - he was going on about how the salt improved the taste and he is so right!Jane

I sometimes use museli instead of porrige oats, more expensive, but really yummy
