Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 7th January. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Will have to edit later as painkillers for neck are making me fly - let you know when I come down again :rotfl:

BUMP - Thanks Halight - that X was just what I needed! Back to normal for a while until I have to take them again. Strangely I listened to the Doctor this time so haven't been driving to work, just taking the children to school.

Cheated last night - dinner was fish & chips because the kitchen was covered in dust due to the surprising speed of the builders demolishing the wall! They're coming back to finish off today, but no more dust, so I cleaned through the kitchen yesterday. Tonights tea will be chicken noodles - yummy. Will try to get an idea from the builders today if they're going to carry on and get everything finished (I can live in dust for a few weeks!) or if I should clean up now.

Everyone still in bed, so just me and the dogs and my coffee. Hugs to those in need xx Can you tell my mind is still flying?!!!!
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Ha ha - yes I know that feeling too ENJOY:A
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning :hello:

I am the proud owner of a fab new range cooker :D I've had to seriously rearrange the budget to afford it. It's not as bad as it first seemed - we needed a new oven and hob anyway (we were going to buy one later in the year), we'll get a refund on a couple of units (oven unit now not needed and the other won't fit now!), and mum and dad gave us £100 to spend on things for the kitchen. Actually they didn't give it to US, they gave us a card with money in it, addressed to the kitchen, lol.

The cooker was connected yesterday, we haven't used it yet though. It was mr tru's 40th birthday yesterday so we went to a Chinese restaurant last night. Master tru insisted on being the person who left the tip. I was like this fainting.gif:D

I've planned my business for the year, planned the veg patch and decided where the fence is going, to reign the chickens in a bit. I've also set myself 3 month targets for other things - first one, a job by the end of march.

Left shoulder and right hip almost back to normal. I'll soon be able to use my yoga dvd again.

Love the tele at the moment - Primeval and Grey's just started, NCIS (season 8 if you have FX) starts tonight, and True Blood (season 3, already seen it but will watch again) about to start :D

Very wet here, which means a soggy walk to work, still rather that than snow, I love the snow, but can't risk having time of if I can't get to work as they are looking for excuses to get rid of people.
DW is on & hubby will empty it later, started this morning & yesterday with a cuppa in bed, what a lovely hubby, he's on holiday so doesn't need to get up.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning All,

Bright and cold in Manchester. I think we have done quite well for weather in the last couple of days.

Busy day today, need to nip to F Foods for some bits and to the bank for DH.

This afternoon will be making HM cake to take to friends tonight as dessert. Would normally just buy dessert so am being very OS. Also I have a bottle of wine that was a gift so will take that. Either lemon drizzle or chocolate, not sure yet.

Also have a few bits and pieces that I am going to use up in a HM soup.

I have stripped our bed this morning and already in the washing machine

And best of all I have lost 3lb since new year:j

    Have a good day everyone J x

I was flying on Tramadol yesterday :D I will have a couple in a mo but that will be it today. I have to have a clear head this afternoon because we are going to a funeral (The friend 's who was murdered at the beginning of October)
I know that a lot of people are going so he will have a good send off.

Even with the funeral I feel in a better frame of mind to yesterday - sorry about that I was on a downer :(

    WE WON THE ASHES! _party_:dance:

Well I am off for the usual scream at DS

    Have good days everyone x

Dark and damp here but not sure about the temperature as I haven't ventured out yet. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock this morning.

Wasn't particularly productive yesterday as still don't feel well although improving, did get quite a lot of washing, drying and ironing done. Will be going to the bank and shopping shortly. I will be trying to crack on with housework etc as it does all need to be done but will take it steady. May just do what I can before lunch then have an easy afternoon as yesterday I was ok until lunchtime then started to flag. Dinner last night was roast chicken portions with vegetable rice, not sure about tonight may pick something up at the supermarket.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Hello Everyone

Dark and wet here. OH went to work at 6.40 and made me a cuppa. Still in bed with lappie, just watched Dolly cat stealing a pop sock from on the chest of drawers. she loves nicking them and "killing" them. :rotfl:

Tea tonight is fish and chips from freezer with mushy peas(bogof in Morrisons).

    Have a good day all!
