PC World-Tech Guys Lost My Laptop

:mad:I purchased a laptop from PC World and took out the monthly insurance to go with it.
Laptop stopped working last year in March. Although I had backed most of my data up, all pics I added just before it stopped working could not be saved. I took my laptop to pc world who refused to take my laptop in for repair due to be short staffed. I was told to call tech guys and sort it with them. I was not happy about this but did it anyway. I was guided by an advisor to go through all these steps in which everything was wiped off my laptop and it still was not working, in the end the guy agreed to have my laptop picked up by courier for repair. Laptop went and didn't arrive at the date it was due. I phoned up to find out where my laptop was and was told I had it. I explained that I would not be calling if I had my laptop and I was told I had signed for my laptop. To cut the story short, my laptop was some where else and after making many phone calls and a few weeks later, my laptop was returned to me with a £25 credit voucher to use in store.
Laptop stopped working again, called Tech Guys who arranged for laptop to be picked up. That was over a week ago. Was told it would be delivered on Sunday 9th Jan. Got a text from them 3 days ago to say laptop had been repaired and would be delivered on 4th January. Wait in all day and no laptop. Called 4 times and spoke to 4 different people. 2 of them could not locate my details. One was so slow and decided to put me on hold for over 7 minutes and the last guy promised he would not put me on hold for so long, but did put me on hold for long and then ended up putting me through to a staff line, used by staff only.
So I get a call last night telling me the laptop would be delivered today.I wait and wait. No laptop. I get a call and get told my laptop will not be delivered and I get an apology. I explain that I cannot keep sitting at home waiting for a delivery as I have a life. She says she will get laptop delivered saturday morning.
I get another call. This time I am told my laptop is missing and cannot be located. By now my anger and frustration was sky high although I remained very calm in the hope their calls are recorded. I was offered an immediate credit voucher ( my laptop was £220). I stated I wanted my laptop and wanted to know how this could happen.
Maybe my laptop will turn up like last time but god, this has happened to me for the second time. I phoned consumer advice line, who told me to put in a complaint and state that they breeched their contract and they had a duty of care towards my item, so I should seek damages. However she stated that if I did not take the credit voucher and asked for a refund, I may not get what I paid as I had used the laptop.
I am so angry and so upset. I have just given up smoking too, which doesnt help.
Anyone been in a similar situation or can offer advice please?

I would take the credit voucher, and get myself a brand new laptop.
I know its annoying, but they've been fair offering one.0 -
How much was the credit voucher you were offered.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
She didn't tell me how much it was for, she said it would be equivalent to what I paid and i would be able to replace the laptop with one similar to mine. I think I paid just under £220 for mine.0

I would ask for a full refund if I were you..........You bought it from them and trusted the service they were providing!0

I don't want to purchase anything from their stores ever again to be honest. This is not the first time they have messed me around and when I do get a new laptop, I want to get the insurance out again but not with them.0

Exactly N3WLIFE, that is why I don't want the credit voucher as I don't want to buy a product from their store.
The woman I spoke to really wanted me to take the credit voucher but I said no, you can't just say my laptop is lost and then offer a credit voucher. Why would I want to shop from them again after this? She never mentioned a refund. She said if I didn't take the credit voucher today, then she would get back to me next Friday as she is off the whole week.0 -
In that case, wait till Friday, and see what they offer you then. I didn't realise that you didn't want another one from them.
I can understand wanting to take your business elsewhere.0 -
I would want more than just the cost of the laptop, there is the additional price of added software, then there is documents and files of various importance, photos of family and so on, this is not to mention the inconvenience involved.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Thanks Sublime, that is all I can do I suppose. I will write a letter of complaint to their head office, although it was good of them to offer me a credit note immediatly, I still do not think it is good practise as this is the second time they have done this to me. First time I was lucky though as they found the laptop. Who knows might be lucky second time but I will never shop from them again. I have been paying £7.99 a month for god knows how long and this is what happens.
No wonder they were on BBC Watchdog in 2010.
Thanks for all your replies. Will update when I hear from the lady.0 -
Lesson learned. Never buy anything from DSGi (Currys, PC World, Currys Digital).0
