OK, Thanks. I hope we will be getting somewhere. I may need some more settings from you, but give the system 24 hrs to stabilise after the changes and then let me know.

My apologies cappacinogirl. I made a error last night when I told you to set 1.1 to 0. Please revert it back to 2.4.

  • Okay, no problem. Have reset 1.1 but to 2 not 2.4 as it was great last night to have such a cool room. Will let you have the G1-G11 readings requested some time tomorrow afternoon when it will have run for 24 hours at the current settings.
  • There is no GT4 nor GT7 when I look under menu three.

    GT1 37.6 now 36.7
    GT2 5.5o
    GT3 47.8 Now 47.3
    GT5 19.5 Now 18.1
    GT6 90.5
    GT8 43.9
    GT9 38.7
    GT10 0.6
    GT11 -3.6

I have 12 panels that look like towel radiators buried in the back garden to provide the heat.

Hope you can make sense of these figures.

    Thanks Anne.

The running figures all look ok.
The "towel rails" are compact collectors, used where there is not enough ground for a normal loop install.
If you want the bedroom cooler, then you need to restrict the UFH flow in that room only. There should be a manifold valve that controls it. Make a note of the existing setting and then reduce it in stages of 24hrs until you are happy with the room temperature.

  • Thanks lovesgshp. I thought this might be the case.

It is this lack of easy regulation that makes me agree that underfloor heating is too complicated. The manifold that probably regulates the upstairs heating is fitted just below the ceiling and without getting up a ladder I cannot see if they are individually labelled. I can see that one set is labelled 'return'. If there is a label I shall try to make an adjustment but of the four pipes I presume one is for the hot water to bath, shower and sink, which I don't want to inhibit.

This does not negate my thanks to you for your assistance and for confirming that the GSHP is running and set up correctly. I'm sure your time is precious to you so thanks for giving some of it to me.:T

    Hi Anne.

The manifold would have nothing to do with the DHW. It is for the heating circuit only. You just need to find out which is the bedroom. There is normally a plan showing which is which.
You can always get in touch again if you need more help, as it is no problem for me.

Great thread everyone, thanks for all the information.

I've inherited a system that doesn't have any manuals and seems to be running based on its backup heater. It's a Worcester system of some description, and sadly the Natural-Warmth.com URL on this cover seems to no longer work.

Two main issues to start with:

    1) Recurring HTF delta error - have made sure my rads are all open but this keeps coming back. Any issues if I speed up the HTF pump as advised by a manual I found on the internet? I suspect the filters may be dirty so will clean these too - will a couple of adjustable spanners be enough tools for this, or should I buy something of a specific size? Youtube suggests there may be crud in the hoses - is it worth checking this too?

    2) Empty expansion vessel - this is way up in the ceiling, with 3 inches of copper piping / valve coming out the top (nearly scraping the roof!). The manual says this is a plug - does it just pull out? It used to have pink liquid in it, but is now empty. The manual says this just always have stuff in it - do I have a major problem (i.e. a leak) if it now empty? Any issues with just topping up the system from this point? Others on the thread mention using R500, and I see there is also R600 / 700 available for sale - but the manual mentions water or anti-freeze. What's best to use, and can I get away with water in the meantime?

    Hi and welcome.

With the HTF then your first job should be to clean the filter, as this is the most common reason. If you can give readings from GT1-GT11 when operating in heating mode that would be helpful.
If an inside filter, a stillson wrench should be fine, if a top filter, then a large adjustable. Make sure you close the valve first!!!

With the ground loop circuit and the expansion bottle, if there is not a water repressurising valve or pressure gauge then you will have to open the tank top, which is normally a screw fitting to refill. Water should be perfectly ok.

Thanks - when you say opening the tank top, is that the top of the plastic expansion vessel?

The Greenstore manual says there are two filters, both with a hex nut sealing cap. Does anyone know what size they are so I can get a spanner? Apparently there is also a circlip there, so have ordered some circlip pliers.
