Good luck Tracey!
I have been busy designing evening invites using vistaprint postcards. Since reading the posts on this board I am going to make really sure that people understand that they are invited to the evening reception but can join us at the church if they wish.
I think that I will put a personal letter in with invites so that the invitation says "Evening Invitation" but they are welcome to watch us get married if they wish. Do you think that this will be clear enough?0 -
Definitely, this is what we are doing. We are using this wording on the actual invites:
Mr & Mrs L request the pleasure of the company of
..................................................................
at an Evening Reception to celebrate the marriage of their daughter
Becca
to
Mr blah blah
to be held at
Hotel X
on Saturday, 2nd June 2012 at 7pm
R.S.V.P. to becca at .....
then inside the invitation we will include one of our evening information leaflets and put in there that we would love them to attend the wedding ceremony etc xFirst baby due 3/3/14 - Team Yellow! Our little girl born 25/2/140 -
Thanks Becca, that is really helpful. I don't want to give people the wrong idea and it be awkward.
With regards to vista print how long have people left things in their baskets before getting an offer for them? It automatically is giving me 30% off postcards (evening invites) and 83% off business cards (RSVP cards), is this a good enough offer or will they do better than this?
Thanks!0 -
If you leave them in your basket for about a week, you should get an email giving you them for free xFirst baby due 3/3/14 - Team Yellow! Our little girl born 25/2/140

Anyone know what's happening with Vistaprint lately?? I used to get emailed practically daily offering free stuff, but i haven't had an email for a few months now
and am waiting for one to sort my evening invite!! x
Don't let your fears stand in the way of your dreams. :A0 -
Best wishes for the new date Tracey!
I think you must have to show some activity on the VistaPrint site for them to send emails through - I get emailed nearly daily because I ordered from them a few months back.
Got the rest of the materials to make my Guest Book today - got fed up trying to find one I liked so going to do my own with our theme incorporated. At least I've got plenty of time to buy one if it looks rubbish!
Has anyone had any problems with the Best Man? Ours is being a bit awkward and complaining that he's not being involved in the planning or decisions, and then when we try to involve him he's indifferent! It's really irritating me so I've left the OH to deal with him.Getting married: 21/06/12!Current weight loss: 2st!!!0 -

Pern, I'd have read the invite the same way and I applaud you for keeping your cool. I'd probably have walked out and not gone back in again.
Did anyone else have the same situation or was it just you and OH? There are friends of our parents that they'd like to have at the ceremony but we can't afford to have them for the sit-down meal (and don't really know them that well anyway) so they're invited to the evening do and we've verbally told when the ceremony is in case they want to pop along.
To be honest I didn't go back...I'd had such a stressful weekend anyway (worst thing being 1 of our pets had died the day before...) so I just couldn't face it & we went all the way back home again! I didn't want to create an awkward situation for them either & felt it was best if we just left.
That's the thing it was just us! Which added to my "Omg it must be me, I'm so thick!!!" feelings. My mum seems to think perhaps they sent us the wrong invitation without even realising as she thought it was definitely a full day invitation too.
That sounds good, you've made it clear what they can come too & why so I can't see you having any problems like that
Had a horrible wedding dream last night - my dress was only down to my waist, my shoes were black and my flowers were red. OH saw me before I walked down the aisle and there were only 5 people there! Very weird!
Oh that is awful! I haven't had any wedding dreams yet but I'm sure it's just a matter of time.Oh and my main computer has broken so I've lost my filled in spreadsheet!
Oh no! I still have the version you sent me if that's any use to you? It's not the most up to date but a starting point at least.:idea:Debt at July 2012: £12,862.57

Just to let everyone know that I have now RE, RE booked my wedding!!! It is now on 6th May (which is a Sunday, but with a BH Monday!)
I was onto the registrar at just after 8am, they couldnt have been more helpful.
Just got to let everyone know now!!! - AGAIN!!! lol
I'm just relieved its all sorted.
So, I will be defecting from the June 2012 thread, to the May 2012 thread! At this rate, I will be getting married last week.
I think if anything else goes wrong with a venue, we are going to get on a plane and pi55 off abroad. I cant cope with the stress!!
On a good note, because of all the c0ck ups, we now have the Bridal suite for 2 nights, free and have changed their package menu to suit us, free! So all in all a bonus.
Thanks for your support ladies and I hope you all have fantastic weddings and good luck for your future lives together.
Tracey xxxx
Yay congrats! So glad you've finally been able to book, & even better with the freebiesHere's hoping that is the last of your problems & everything runs smoothly from now on. Good luck with the rest of your planning & please be sure to pop back after the big day to share a pic or 2 & give us any last minute tips! x
