squelchy69 wrote: »Hi everyone,
I am also a "June 2nd Bride to Be". Looks like a popular day!
I got engaged on Valentines this year after 9 years and 3 sons with my other half.......................
Pretty well planned so far I think. Trying to have a really different and special day on a budget.
Dress sorted - bought from Ebay and altered by local dressmaker - total £150.
Shoes from Ebay - £4
Registry office booked - £400 - We wanted the larger room as it had an aisle and we have quite a lot of guests.
Local hall booked for reception - £300
Decorations all from Ebay - about £25 and arty farty mate to decorate for free.
Cake topper and cake decorations from Ebay - About £20, will decorate plain cakes myself.
Ladies favours, bag charms made by my mum using beads and charms from local car boot sale.
Mum is also making my jewellery, hairpin and bits for my bridesmaids and flowergirls.
Our 3 sons ties, hankies, cufflinks and sundries from Ebay - £30
Mobile hairdresser to do hair - £30
Bouquet and bridesmaids flowers and flowergirl baskets from Ebay - £25
Car arranged by a mate who knows someone with a flash Merc.
Mum is doing all the catering for 150 people too, roped in a few mates to help - hopefully £500 will cover it.
Loads of odds and sods from the local poundshop including plastic glasses, cutlery, serving plates, bubbles, rose petals
Drink is the biggy, possibly a booze run to France. Also gonna keep an eye in supermarkets for good deals. Hope to get the lot for less than £800 (Hubby insists we need to pay for drinks!)
Still quite a bit to plan but can't do kids suits as the wedding is a year away.
Invitations, will probably make my own.
Hubby wants a nice new suit as his is over 10 years old, lol.
It's so exciting!!!

Wow you are organised!! & getting things for such amazing prices, I am envious lol.
Welcome to all the new faces
Sorry for the massive catch up here but have been quite busy with other stuff - but I'm off to a wedding exhibition this evening to hopefully get some inspiration & get in touch with some fabulous suppliers

Well I have made some more florist appointments, one in particular seemed quite helpful but will see how it goes! They're all more expensive then I would like, I may have to rethink the shower bouquet
We also made an appointment with a ring company who say they can definitely do something to fit round my engagement ring (it's a bit of an unusual shape!) however I'm still not sure if that will look nice by itself in the event I need to take my engagement ring off...
What are the rest of you doing? 2 rings on one finger, switching hands, not wearing it anymore?:idea:Debt at July 2012: £12,862.57

Well now I've a little time I'll put what I've been up to, we decided straight away that the cheaper the better we've got 3 kids (16, 8 and 4) and I'm not prepared to take out a loan or use a credit card for this purpose, and in true moneysaving style we are shopping around or making it ourselves (or persuading people to do it for us for the price of an evening invitation.
Bought THE dress off ebay for £72, to feel safe I restricted my search to uk sellers and then, when I'd found the dress I loved in my size, bombarded the seller with a million questions about measurements to get the size exactly right and then bidded up to my maximum, which was only £100 but still saved!
Making the cake myself, 2 layer sponge (as no one ate/took much of my sisters fruit cake!) covered in sugarpaste, with ribbons and flowers (prob icing!) Less than £30.
Same with the invitations, bought A6 card and envelopes, "wedding invitation" or "evening invitation" sticker on front with a small bit of fancy paper with a butterfly in the centre (looked for card attachments on ebay), add a bit of fancy ribbon down one side. So I can make card this year and print inner nearer wedding, has worked out £32.28 for 100.
Making bridesmaid dresses and waistcoats, loads of cheapish material sites online and as long as the material is ordered together it will match!
Have worked it out as 2 adult bridesmaids dresses, 1 flower girl dress, 2 pageboys waistcoats, groom, best man, usher and giver away waistcoats is just under £75
TIP:- men wearing black suits (already owned!) :T
Just need 2 pairs of black trousers and 2 white shirts for page boys (both under 5) All which will need to be done nearer for a good fit
Decided to go for a church and finally found one this week!!!
It was quite a hard search, I've never been married before so really want the whole deal added to the fact that our registry office only holds 40, but OH was married years before and a lot of places said no before I found a lovely vicar. Put a bit of money on the straining budget (registry office was £110) £365
Hired a room in a social club 12 noon till 11.30pm £115
TIP:- If you sign up as a member you can usually hire a room a lot cheaper. The bar is also seriously cheap compare to most places, haven't checked corkage yet though. And you can bring in your own caterer (lots of places I looked at had their own).:D
Just had a look on videojug.com and I can make the buttonholes myself and a friend has just finished her 1st year training to be a florist and offered her services for that evening invite!
Going to use wooden roses £18 for 100 and I can choose the colours to match.
Friend is doing hair-dressing at college, so helpful!!!;)
And friend of h2b is a DJ and has just this moment agreed to do it for a wedding present :j
Bought the most beautiful veil (ebay) with butterflies sewn on and trying to safely die it as my dress is a cafe/ latte colour £13
Impulse buy - Hair snails for bridesmaids and me - butterfly design £10
And daughter wants a tiara, still looking!
Need to sort out a photographer for the church as a friend offered to do the reception free!
Got OH ring but still looking for mine, and found some quirky cufflinks for bestman.
Friend is caterer and if I buy the food off her (cost) she'll put it all together for free, love her! Having sit down buffet (knives and forks) lots of cold pastas, ham and salads, and then a finger buffet in the evening!
Please tell me if I've forgotten something important, feeling quite proud of myself now I've written it down!
Sorry I've waffled on a bit! lol

There are two ebay sellers that sell in bulk whatever colours you choose, just click the links and click on their shop for more choice:
