Hi Everyone. Can I join in. My aim is to save £2,500 by the end of the year. Like other people on this board, I can only save small amounts here and there. I've already got £334 but still a long way to go. I've got another week to go before payday but on Friday I'll be writing a cheque out to pay into my savings of between £100 and £150 (hoping it will be the higher amount). Like others here, I'm aiming to reach my goal by being extra cautious with my money - I hardly buy any clothes (quality not quantity) and really being strict with my food shopping and not frittering cash away on rubbish. I also throw my change into a old pot at the end of the week which I will put towards my goal.

Good luck everyone... let's try and save as much as we can in 2011.

Hi Everyone I'll join you's. My new year resolution was to cut back spending and start saving to pay off my debts as fast as I can, so this it Ideal ! I'm going to try and save £1500 by the 31st of March. So far since new year

I've managed to save £136 over the last 2week for not spending on anything bar essentials. Went and set up a standing order to take £30 for my account wkly to save account. Hoping to transfer some more over if I've got anything left next payday. Ebay items for sale at the moment coming up to £35. Cancelled my sky (using box as freeview when 30day cancellation is here). Really determined to dent in my debt this year. Feels great to be getting some control back, Instead of getting a buzz from shopping, I'm getting one for seeing how much I'm managing to save.

    Good Luck every one !

    Please can I join in?

Our aim is to save £2500 by the end of March, this will be paid off one of the cc's as the 0% deal ends then.
My mid term goal is to have all my debts paid off in 6 months (£5000 in total) and my long term goal is to take my OH to Memphis for his 50th, which is the end of next year.

Haven't managed to save anything yet, don't get paid until the 25th, hopefully I'll then be able to make a dent in the £2500. We did open a HSBC account on Friday, which we will get £75 bonus, but we are all doing up one of the bedrooms and need a skip, so this will pay for it.

Good saving wishes to all x

  • Hi, can i join too please?

My aim is to completely pay off my additions catalogue by May 14th (My birthday :D). So i'll need to pay £1998.99.

I have a few ideas already, potty train my youngest, ebay like crazy, syphon pennies (and hopefully pounds) from my grocery shop etc and i'll be moving in a couple of months which will save me £60+ per month in petrol.

Thankyou for starting this thread and good luck to everyone xx

Is it ok to join need to save £1,600 by 15th March as site fees are due on static and sons 18th in February. Intention was when we swapped tourer for static with a years site fees thrown in that we would save the money each month what we used to pay out on storage and insurance for the tourer and by the time march came we would have it. Ufortunately did not work like that and paid all the debts off that we had. So we are lucky to be debt free but means we have to get cracking on the money for the site fees, but following lots of advice from this forum i have cut back on shop bought lunches none this month no nipping to supermarket on way home from work and also went to asda today with my list (have meal planned for the week) and just go the items on the list and shopping came to £37 including washing powder and toilet rolls (using some of the stuff tins, pasta, etc in store cupboards as it is overflowing) i usually spend about £75 so transferred the difference into my savings account so i have £175 in there up to now without wages which are at end of month. Keep the good ideas coming and with a bit of mutual encouragement we will all reach our goals.

  • At the moment I'm only able to pay off each payday. I need to find ways of 'squirreling' back extra money throughout the month, which will see my total approaching faster!
Glad to be part of the challenge

    Hi everyone,

Just back from my weekend away and didn't only managed to come back with a few quid which I need for food this week. Oh well, least it wasn't over budget.

Have a few things sold on ebay, just waiting for the last one to pay then will come back with new total. Also expecting payouts on some daily click sites before the end of the month. I should be able to make a bigger dent aswell come payday in 2 weeks time. Have been saving up 10p's and 20p's in a money box which i'll empty in the last week in March.

    Hope everyone's doing well!

  • Hi linz,

I too have a similar challenge, I’m getting married (no date set yet!) and rather than having a massive target of thousands of pounds for it we’ve broken it down into smaller chunks, so that it feels like you’re getting somewhere :)

First target is £2000 by June but I think this going to be very hard as we kind of forgot we have quite a few things coming up between now and then (incidentally most of them have to do with other people’s weddings :D ). It’s always good to see others on the same boat, it’s very motivating!

    MM xx
