    Hi Mummytomygirls

Some tents are really expensive but you do get what you pay for and its worth paying abit extra to stay warm and dry. We bought a really nice one in an end of season sale, they were selling the old stock off in readiness for the new model coming out and we got a right bargain. The Range and Argos sell loads of camping stuff and again it might be worth waiting until the end of August/September and picking up some reduced stuff from them. It is an expensive outlay at the beginning but by shopping around it doesn't have to be ridiculously expensive.

Hi thanks Choo. We have seen one we like which has great reveiws but does cost a bit. Ive found it online in a sale for £150 off but will keep looking to see if we can get a better deal.....If we do get one we are going to go for 2 nights on the first weekend of sept. It wont cost us much money as will bring our food etc. Most camp sites ive seen charge more for large footprint tents - but with 5 kids we NEED atleast a 7 birth so cant get away from that :( We will just use basics this yr camping (plus can borrow things from BIL) and going to ask for some off the extras from parents for bdays and xmas and keep eyes open for bargains over the winter?

Today ive had the shopping delivered £97  but realisticly when I have extras like dog food and extra snacks and fruit because the kids are home I am aiming for £100 a week anyway....

Ive spent ages today filling in a debt and savings spreadsheet on here. I like when I have to fill it all in - makes me want to pay more off :D

Today I got the Abbey cc statment so paid that off - it was £47 so round it up to £50 - every little helps. Ive got a cheque to pay in and some change so will pay that off the cc aswell when i go to town?

Right best go and sort some dinner :)

  • Hi, camping is great fun with DC, it has took us about 5 years to build up all of our camping gear !! Have you a GO OUTDOORS shop close ? they often have some reduced lines but you need to keep a look out as they may only be on offer for a week or so :)

Yeah there is one near (ish) so will keep eyes open for good offers and pick things up here and there I think. I really think we will get one with the extra money. I know we should be sensible and either save for extra for xmas or pay debts BUT I also think my kiddies are only young once so if its a good way to then be able to make lots of happy memories then its got to be good :) (just think a few yrs ago I would have just poped it on a cc :) )

Hi Mummy, awww the kids will love camping. Ive only ever been once but I know people that go all the time. Once your set up its relatively cheap from what ive heard. Dont forget to look on the old freecycle you just never know what people are giving away.

Good idea on the freecycle, I might do a awanted and see if anyone has any bits they no longer need.

Got a lovely letter from Eon today telling me how much my prices will be going up :( (I thought I was on a fixed but it must have run out?) But I think we should still be ok with the same dd as they had put it up to cover money we owed them but we have cleared that (and are in credit) now so it might level out the same?

Its quiet late and I should be in bed but ive only just sat down!! DS didnt go to bed till about 10!! and so have been doing a little bit of rushing round housework till now and just having a nice hot chocolate before ill head up (if I dont get a cry for the next feed before that is!!)
Off for a little read before heading out :)

We did make some cakes Which are yummy and kept the girls nice and happy for the afternoon.

DH got the overtime money today - So we are on the look from now on for a bargain tent - fingers crossed we can find a nice good quality one which is on offer.

Not a lot to update on the money front really. Havent had a chance to do any surveys laterly or added anything for sale - must try harder. Have a few grow bags which im going to list for sale next.

Right going to have a snoop at some other diaries before going to bed.

  • Opps havent updated in ages!! Lost my password on here which took me ages to get round to getting a new one :o
Not a lot of MSE things been going on anyway so not missed much lol.

DH is totally fed up with his job :( His booses are just being horrible and doing everything they can to make his working life horrible!! Its been going on for ages but its really coming to a head at the mo! Its like they are trying to make him walk!! He has looked for a new job but he will not get the same amount he earns now so he feels trapped!! Its really getting him depressed. I just feel rubbish as there isnt really much we can do! The only option is for him to go self employed - but with the money as it is and 5 young kids it can be quiet a risk. We are going to look into it and see how much money will need to start him off - He would need a Van, tools and would also want some money in the account to cover if he doesnt get as much wages for some mths. He is lucky that he knows a few people who do work self employed and they are always telling him its what he should do and that they can get him in touch with lots of companies which would need him. Also aslong as he leaves his work in good times they would possible use him when they need sub contractors............ I really think something has to be done as he cant live his life like he is at the mo!! Will also keep looking out for jobs for him and see what happens........

Still need to get the keeps school shoes - I dont like to get them too early as knowing my luck they would have a big growth spurt after i buy them. So will go and get them one day this week. Also need to get DD1 a new coat - but might get her a Tottenham one for her bday which they have in the sales and she would LOVE. She wants a sleepover for her Bday which is great as doesnt have to cost a fortune :D We are also going to get her a MP3 player, Mclaren tshirt and some other bits she needs so im on the hunt for bargains and special offers :)
