  • Evening!

Hope these few days haven't been too manic.

I still have an old doggy. Back legs are very wobbly but he's in no pain and not suffering, so I don't mind having to help him round when he needs it. He's gone very peaceful and DH says that dogs so tend to eat more before the die (MIL kept going on about him only lasting another few weeks, but then she said that last summer).

I have my new lovely shiny lappy! They gave me a full refund of the original price and I got a new one straight away :T

Good news on the laptop, I bet you are enjoying that.
Busy in work, lots going on. However I have just booked a long weekend off for next weekend so that is good.
I have been and gone and done it, finally got my hair cut and coloured today (only 12 months since I got it done). Decided against going grey so didnt go back to the hairdresser who had convinced me that she wanted to strip the current residual colour then do loads of ash blonde highlights. It all sounded very good at the time but as I have had to cancel 2 appointments for different reasons I decided that somebody was telling me something. So today I took myself off to the poshest salon in town (now remember I live rurally so posh here is not that posh and I have, in the past, frequented Vidal Sassoon before coming here). I opted for a chocolate brown, the girl left some of the residual caramel browns on the tips so that it looks like I have a few highlights (very clever) and I now have a lovely choppy just below the chin length bob. Happy, happy, happy.
Still no news on a car. I am losing the will to live where that is concerned.

In other news, I am taking a flying trip to Austria next weekend :) Not that expensive, staying with "friend" of sorts and got two return flights for £130. It is coming out of my future plans fund (yes I have one of those) and it is exactly what I will be using it for. Dont want to say too much because I might tempt fate but I am buzzing with excitement at the moment. So I really hope that I pull this off.

ME, meant to ask what lappie it was that you had. Mr C bought a HP compaq thingy just about 2 years ago, it has never worked properly but him being an Apple geek he just blames it on being NOT APPLE Aaaaaaarrrrrrrggggggghh. I was just wondering if perhaps it could be the same thing. It keeps switching itself off and overheats etc etc etc. Would it be worth him investigating? PS, give me a clue re Hypno's facebook and twitter then. She has hundreds of fans (oops friends I meant) and I get easily confused.

    Hi Cherisong,

I have only just discovered your diary and have got to let you know how much I have enjoyed reading it. I plan to be a regular visitor from now on :)

    Love

I do blogs, and now I find myself 'doing' diaries. Wow talk about expanding my horizons. Perspective changes. Cheri is life changing, by the way. Well she changed mine, but by my own choice, Cheri was the catalyst. Heyho its all good, in actual fact its awesome, but onwards and upwards. Enjoy reading, I know I will (when I find time).;)
  • Loving the sound of a sudden trip off to Austria - just living for the moment in an MSE way!

I think I'll get a personal twitter as the other one is in the company name! Cheri - look for my old name and my profile pic will help :D. DH has no idea what we talk about on here money and health wise, he just think we come on to talk about being cheap skates and comparing how bad our husbands are :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:. He can see the emails that come in from the messages etc IYSWIM ;).

The compaq presario was made around the same time as mine and is a sister company of HP. Many machines have the same internals. Let me know the model number and I'll check it out as its to do with a chip on the motherboard overheating and frying the connections. Whatever happens it should really be sorted under sale of goods.

Does his ever refuse to turn on and the power button just light up an then turn off again?

Thank you, you lovely lot. Fantasia, stop building me up so much!!!!!!! I just bullied you!!! :)

Me - not sure how to find the model number but Presario CQ60-214em sound anything like the right ball park? And yes, that is exactly what happens to his, it switches off and sometimes the power button lights up but then the whole thing switches off. I will get him to look into it a bit more. I have to say though that he gets very impatient with things like this and stressed so not sure if I could cope. However, if it means getting it replaced that would be a big help for his job (when he gets another contract)

  • I had a look but couldn't see anything specific that relates to the issue mine had. The Compaq F700 range was the same as the HP G6000 range and they are all breaking. Another symopton is the dvd reader not working and the wifi packing up. However, an item is supposed to be made to last around 6 years under the Sale of Goods act. HP are awful to talk to.

What you need to do it
    • Ring Compaq helpline - choose the warranty option or else you can't speak to anyone. Give them the serial number and model and ask if it is subject to a recall. Don't get into any discussions if they say it isn't as you are wasting your time
    • If it isn't then take to a local computer repairer who is a ltd business. Get them to do a diagnostic check and an insurance report with the serial number on it and the full cost of repair plus the cost of the check. Mine was £25 and as it was listed on the letter I got that back too.
    • Go to the shop with the laptop, letter and original purchase receipt and tell them that you would like the machine to be looked at under the Sale of Goods act. Be very nice to them as this helps :D. Staples faxed the docs to a specific team and at 12.30 they had 16 faxes to look at already .
    • They may respond very quickly or may take up to a week. The diagnostic report will list everything that is faulty. If it is a fan then it may be easier to just have fixed but if it is the motherboard you are looking at £200 bill and a write off in insurance terms.
    • They will consider the options, may repair or replace, they also may refuse if they deem it to be broken due to being dropped or anything but you can then make it clear that nothing has happened to it. Some companies are giving full credit to spend with them. I actually had the choice of a full refund by cheque so if I hadn't needed another machine I would have received £375 back in the post!
Let me know how you get on x
