Thanks everybody. I did sell my last property without an estate agent to be honest. And it went much more smoothly than ever before. I may consider that this time. Didnt know that you could list on rightmove as a private seller and I had also forgotten about Sarah Beeney's site. I will see what estate agents say when they come I am feeling very positive at the moment. Had some news that the other person interested has dropped out so leaves the way open for me if I can pull off the financial jiggery pokery. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. haven't posted in a while, but am lurking! cherisong, sounds like someone wants you to have that place. I wish you all the very best and hope that everything falls into place. I look forward to reading about it and while I know you will be very busy (and more than a little stressed), things seem easier to cope with when you are going after something that you really, really want.
Good luck! xx :j0 -
Fingers crossed then.
Can you raise the money via a UK bank or do you have to go through an Austrian one? Is it a going concern as a business already or is this the first move to get you over there, gets jobs etc?
Did Mr C get another contract to tide him over for a bit? Could be a good chance to pretend you only have one income and save the rest! One small step for ME, one giant leap for my family!

thanks Little h, nice to hear from you. I dont plan on being stressed
No it isnt a going concern at the moment Me, it is a first step over there but there is potential for maybe one or two rooms as a B&B to ease me in gently and get used to it. Longer term plan would be to step up after settling there. If we do get any kind of mortgage then it would have to be with an Austrian bank, they would require 40% deposit which is the norm there. Not sure at this point that I would need to do that depending on how much my flat sells for. We plan on keeping Mr C's house for a short time. I will probably still work here for a few months unless I find a job I am happy with there immediately. There seems to be lots of jobs there though and so a patchwork lifestyle is definitely on the cards.
Yes you are right about the one income and we have already discussed that. Mr C has been offered 2 contracts but both of them meant him living away and the maths didnt work out as we wouldnt actually end up any better off by the time he paid out lodgings etc. So we know that there is work out there but just need it to be in a location that allows him to either travel from here or his parents. His parents opens up a lot more possibilities than here though.
I am currently up because Moo has a grumbly tummy and I am concerned about bloat so thought it best to sit with him until he settles. He is now snoring his head off so may head back to bed in a mo.Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Thanks all, Moo settled eventually. I think that he is aware of all the upheavals. The house is now completely full to the rafters of all my stuff from the flat  Didnt realise that I still had so much stuff left. It kind of reminds me of when we emptied my Mum's house after she died and I thought there was no point in keeping "stuff". I got rid of lots of things then but it would seem that I still have 6 boxes of books :eek::eek:Oh well, at least now I am surrounded by it all it will spur me on to get out to a car boot sale. Well thats one big job done! When are they coming to take photos or are you going to do it yourself?
PS glad Moo is ok. I googled herbal remedies for dogs and found out about Hawthorn for older dogs with heart conditions. I've got some tablets for the old man. The vets want to put him under to get an xray and do tests for a possible heart murmur, but he's not that strong and also it would really stress him out. I also read about all the side effects and ongoing tests related to heart conditions. He's only had 2 days worth of Hawthorn so far and he's much more settled.
Unlike humans he has no idea about placebo effect etc, so maybe there is some truth with these tablets. The manager in Holland and barretts was brilliant and knowledgeable. I thought it was worth a try!One small step for ME, one giant leap for my family!

Hi Me, I am a big believer in alternative remedies for animals. I looked into doing some kind of course for aromatherapy treatments for animals and massage. My Mum used to do Reiki for animals and I used to laugh at her but she got lots of people coming to her. My last vet was brilliant as well and really interested in all of that stuff. He once had that Steve guy off Vets in Practice (now a tv presenter) at his surgery for a month and he was doing all kinds of things like acupuncture etc. Hope the old man is ok. My old cocker spaniel only ever went to the vets twice (apart from injections) and both times was due to the cat scratching him and getting an abcess. Other than that the vet used to tell me to try half an aspirin for the dogs and only take them if they were bad.
Just instructed an agent this morning to put flat on the market so they will be coming out later today to take pictures. I have left the key with them so they can take in viewers whenever. He is really keen, valued it for more than I was expecting, expects to get the asking price very easily! He even said that had he had it on the market last week he would have had a buyer as his friends were looking for that exact kind of property and as none were coming up they had just agreed a sale on something that wasn't as good. Shame but hey ho. He expects to have it sold in 6 weeks (or he will eat his hat, which he was in fact wearing!!!) Feeling really excited and scared all at the same time. I have sold 3 houses in the past and all of them have sold within a week of going on the market (one of those in 1991 when the market was pretty poor and crashing) so hopefully I have good form. Still I am not counting my chickens before they hatch. Have been on linkedin and seen quite a few doable jobs in the area for me. So I am now listening to Michel Thomas tapes to get my german up to scratch. Have spent rather more than I would have liked on the CC for bits for the flat to dress it up but it looks WOW - all the estate agents commented that it was as good as a show houseEverything I bought will then come into Mr Cs house for dressing to sell. We have a "corporate" look idea going on.
