I have enjoyed all of Cecelia Aherne's books so far, a very talented young lady.
Well done on the mammoth shopping and cooking spree and it sounds like a great night out for you both:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
Yes, me too Maty but I was on an enforced - no buying books amnesty for some time. I kept going into waterstones and picking it up then putting it back. I was so pleased it was in the library but surprised to see that it has only been borrowed 5 times in 18 months. No taste I say. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Just read today that after 10 years Waterstones are withdrawing their 3 for 2 offer
I only allow myself to buy a book when I am going on holiday but I do usually get at least one for Christmas from one of my nieces who shares my love for reading.
I am hoping, that as part of the life changes being made redundant will bring, I will find more time to read which means that I must join the library. Trouble is, I hate to hand back a book that I have really loved :rotfl::j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
I love books too. It is apparantly a trait of my star sign. I used to have a great Aunt who bought me a book every Christmas and I used to save her present til last to open because I knew it would be a book and there is nothing quite like that feeling of holding a book in your hand for the first time and turning the pages. Sad?- I care not. I have books that I will not give away or hand back. In fact there is one book from my old library that I used to renew every time I went. In the end they offered it to me for sale. I love any kind of book irrespective of the subject. Maty maybe if you find a book that you love in the library then you could treat yourself to it or add it to your wish list and hope you get it for Christmas.
Does anybody else find it hard to put a book down and love to rush through it to find out what is going to happen but as you near the end you slow right down because you dont want it to end or is that just me?Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. I love that and may have to try it myself :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Once I left home I had to ban myself from reading books in bed as I can get lost for hours in a book and would find myself still reading as the sun came up and was fit for nothing at work the next day. When I lived at home Mum used to shout at me to put my light out as she went to bed.
I am usually disappointed as I reach the end of a book because I didn't make myself read more slowly to make it last longer.
I have one book that I used to read every year but I had to stop myself when I knew every single word. I picked my very dog eared but much loved copy up this year (first time in 11 years) and it was like an old friend.:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
the advantage of reading a book really quickly to get to the end is tht inevitably there's bits you've missed, so it's a special surprise when you read it again for the second time :T Two for the price of one, see

I like re-reading books too!
And Che Part 1 ... I loved that film, I really did. I think I cried at the end of Part 2 .... the friend I went with had been out to Cuba the previous year, and taken a trip around the area, and she said a lot of the locales were for real, she recognised them .... enjoy!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Birds of a Feather flock together ladies
Thanks KC. Not watched it yet. Went to the cinema last night as part of my "treating myself" mission. Watched Bridesmaids. It is the funniest film I have seen in ages. The cinema was in uproar at some points. I had tears in my eyes (good ones) and my side was aching. Highly recommend it for a good laugh. Even the blokes were howling despite it being a very girly film.
NSD planned here today. Hoping to finally pick some berries. Will be rifling through my wardrobe to find something suitable for interview next week so that I dont have to buy anything. Will also need to try to find somebody who will look after Moo for me as my friend who has recently been doing that is poorly so I dont want to ask her. Although I am sure that she will be happy to look after him (her and her OH adore him - who doesnt) The minder who had him for me at Christmas is £30 per day so that is out. Worst comes to the worst he can come with me as I am booked into a travelodge. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Just been reading Nevil Shute's A Town like Alice. Now going back to the bit where Joe is in England and re-reading. Have to send it back to my friend as it is her book and was just reading it when staying there this weekend after my interview.
NSD for me today - worried about when I shall run out of money and worried about getting a job and worried about the first month's survival when I have got a job!

Hope the interview went well Butti. Not read that book.
NSD achieved yesterday. More meals cooked and in the freezer.
Attempting to sort out plans for going South on Wednesday. Friend who was having Moo is poorly and Mr Cs friends funeral is on the day that I need to travel down but is another part of the country. Very complicated trying to sort it all out without costing any money. I am sure that it will be sorted but needs to be sorted today.
Mr C still not had any wages (he is now owed 7 weeks) and so we are now officially wiped out of money. Storecupboards are full and the freezer is getting there so no worries on the eating front. We do however need to work out how to get some money for fuel and fresh foods etc. I saw a part time job at the weekend and suggested that I apply. Mr C is not happy. He, quite rightly, pointed out that my current contract is to work over 7 day periods and evening so he thinks that I will be putting myself under too much pressure. I have signed up for mystery shopping but there is never any work in my area. I am surveying again (mostly crowdology as it is quick payouts). Not sure what else to do that I could do from home and fit the hours around work.
I have 7 days off from Weds but 2 of those will be to go South to interview. Not looking like I will be making it to the Proms unless I win the lottery tomorrow. Mr C is still hoping to get there if he gets paid which will mean that I will be coming back home as he heads off (we will cross paths) so I will be home alone again at the weekend. That is assuming Moo gets sorted. If not I might have to withdraw from the interview.
