you should know this -You buy the goods -you get r&r- They take the transaction number from the purchase receipt and log it against that r&r refund number.

you get the points added -The purchase transaction number and the fact that you had the money refunded is recorded via the transaction number

This shows up on their system they nick the points back

    you get store ban

The Dude returns - did you miss me? :p

I think Wlfc1 posts are very interesting - but I think this above post may potentially put off newbies - I don't think there is a one size fits all solution with payment methods and clubcard use.

But first - I agree - if you want to remain completely anonymous then cash and no clubcard is the one for you.

That said - if you get a huge R&R it doesn't matter if you paid with groats or your flexible friend - the CS staff will probably remember you!

More generally I also agree that not using your clubcard when R&Ring is a good move - unless all you ever want to do is R&R on small value goods.

However - individual stores can only see your recent transactions - where a clubcard has been used - for that store only - they cannot see your transactions across the board.

So if you pick up a R&R - in a store you rarely use - you can use your clubcard without any fear (well mostly...)

The only caveat is if you are going for something big or contentious where you may need to involve Head Office - it is accepted that the Dundee Clan can see all clubcard-related transactions.

This is why it is indeed wise not to use a clubcard for small R&Rs if you have ambitions to go for bigger catches - during the recent console polova if you had gone to Head Office to ask them to authorise your R&R - you may have had problems if Dundee could see that you were a serial R&Rer.

Payment - the one issue I totally disgree with the OP on is the advice not to use a credit or debit card - Tesco CS staff (store and Head Office) simply cannot track your spending patterns via these methods of payment - and even if they attempted to do so they would be breaching various Acts of Parliament including the Data Protection and Human Rights Act.

Hello I'm The Dude and I'm a serial R&Rer - yes I have a problem ;) -I use a variety of debit and credit cards for 90% of my transactions - I've never had a problem with any 'Tesco Tracing' with my R&R activity and payments.

Does anyone here believe that Amishi was part of a global sting operation whereby every Tesco store selling that TV devoted security staff time solely to watching anyone who chose to look at it? And subsequently compiled CCTV/images of "potential R+R abusers" that's posted round the company for store detectives to follow?

Surely Spa2k and Constantine will be able to confirm that they've been contacted as part of this operation?

Your paranoia is showing again, leadhead.

Stop giving credence to posts made by a troll. You only encourage it and make yourself look somewhat naive.

    Hello! Newbie here.

Mr T doesn't like using this Voucher:

    "Special offer Promise Voucher"

I had an annoying experience with these 'Promise Vouchers' today. I was looking for the Mcmannis wine (hopefully mispriced as per the other thread). A helpful wine guy showed me where it should be but it was sold out. The yellow SEL was £4.99 reduced from £7.99 and he informed me that the price goes back up next Tuesday. He said that if I wanted some I should go to CS and ask for a Promise ticket. He said they don't like giving them out and muttered on for a while about various aspects of Tescos policy - I got a clear idea that he was fairly P***** Off with the management.

I thought I'd get a ticket but CS wouldn't give me one - said they've been told not to do it on wine as its all subject to availalbility and they don't know when the next delivery will be. I can't see it makes any difference whether its wine or a big tin of chocolate biscuits - either you can have it when new stock arrives or you can't. On her reasoning you'd be lucky to get a Promise ticket for anything at all.

Wow, this thread isn't even a day old and already we have the first signs of disharmony.

For the new arrivals, including r&r'ers, curious onlookers and tesco.employees, may I say welcome and chill dudes - no, not you Dude, you're chilled enough already.

Welcome that is as long as your intentions are honest and true.

The sole purpose of this thread is to discuss Tesco's policy of how they deal with mispricing, overcharging, inability to match SELs and till prices, special offers that don't work, expired SEL's being left on shelves etc etc.

It isn't a thread about the morals/ethics of looking for overcharges, that's covered elsewhere in the Arms.

It has to be said that the Thread has skated on very thin ice in the past and has been closed temporarily several times. This has normally been due to personality clashes and personal attacks so they should be avoided if possible.

The advice given by several employees has proven welcome and costructive to lots of us, particularly that given by costantine and spa2k. Others seem to feel it is their duty to defend Sir Terry to the end.

But above all this is a thread where every little helps. Information and help that is.

sorry-end of sermon, don't want to see this thread go the shape of the pear too.

Top post - well said Stumpt.

Can I add for the Mods - please don't punish the majority when a Troll is given some dinner or other Dudes have an on-line teddy throwing episode.

The postees who are determined to wreck this thread - please consider yellow or red carding these Dudes with a suspension.

    Thanks Mods,

    Duder

Wines, and to a greater extent, Champagnes, are a commodity (to an extent) where market forces command prices charged on a day to day basis technically, so prices are subject to daily fluctuation .... although the truth is somewhat less exaggerated in practice. Though I can see their reasoning.

Hey dude just out of interest I am of the opinion that if there is nothing wrong i.e. illegal about a little R&R then why bearing in mind that it is a policy set by the big T themselves why are we made to feel so! I mean I simply use there own policy against them (AS WE ALL DO) its not DODGY or AGAINST THE LAW and yet we dart around in the shadows covertly trying to pull it off!

I for one do not give a monkeys I have a rule I only R&R items £10 or over I use the same debit card and I make damn sure I get my points!

My advise to Newbie's is Big brother is watching you regardless so get it while you can!

That rug really tide the room together did it not;)

I feel tesco might have tracked me through my credit card I put several large R&RS on the same credit card, over a 2 week period. when paying at tescos my credit card needed authorisation according to the check out girl it was routine I said I was in a hurry & paid by debit card. I then went to pc world spent over £100 on the credit card no problem.on contacting the credit card co. they said my account was fine it was not comming from them.after it happened again at tescos I avoid using that particular card and have had no furthar problems even with club card or club card plus.

The Paranoia has set in I see (or has it!), I almost expect a couple of Tesco employees in Jack boots to appear and quietly escort you to a private room for interrogation!

My advise is, if this does appear to be the scenario try and drop kick them (TEKKEN STYLE) at the first available opportunity and then make a run for the exit!!!

P.S try shopping at a different supermarket after that!

Went to 3 Tescos today and all I could find was the sage and onion stuffed chickens and terrys chocolate orange 2 for £3 so got 2 of each.

While I was looking I noticed a lot of reductions on Perfume and Aftershave and have put these onto a new thread, some had 75% off!

    Hope this helps someone
