SpiritDawnWolf wrote:How do you scan the DVDs on the price checkers when the DVD is in that annoyingly safe plastic security box which has never allowed me to price check a single one of them?!?
Or is it just only when someone has bought one intentionally and posted it on here would we know the price difference?
It is tricky when they're inside those cases, but slowly rotate the bar code near the scanner and hold it at different distances, it is possible but there is a technique to it.0 -
Another update. Having received my £20 card, and sending off another email to ask why the woman treated me in such a manner, I got a curt reply telling me it's been dealt with goodbye!
Am not impressed, an apology was all I was after!I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

Got some meat misprices today, no problem at CS except when the young lad from the Produce Dept was called to check the SELS, and he said, 'tell you what, as a goodwill gesture you can have them at half-price'. Nice CS girl says, 'well if that's OK with the customer?'
'Errr, no, that's not your policy is it?' I replied.
She smiled at me, sent him packing and commented 'he just tried to rip you off, here's your full refund'!
I was quite shocked to see other 'oblivious-to-the-legendary-policy' customers though. One girl had picked up 5 packs of the chicken (I only got one as that's all we have room for, and I wanted some sirloin too). I watched her waltz off, sure that she must be an R&Rer. She wasn't, she paid for the chicken and left the shop before I even got to CS.
Another old chap said to CS (while I waited for the produce guy) this pack is 69p on the shelf but it's scanning as 99p (I think it was rocket or some other green leafy pre-packed salad). Nice CS girl says, have you paid for it yet sir? No, he hadn't, so she sold it to him for the 'reduced' price of 69p at the CS desk.
She was right to do so, he couldn't have got R&R as he hadn't paid yet, but how many customers do this I wonder?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Firstly hello to everyone, I have found your site very useful lately and am getting really into this r & r thing.
Today when I went to my local store I bought two high priced items and was told the price while the check out lady was putting them through so I had to confirm that was the price I meant to pay. Is this another way of stopping the r & r's? I can't very well say yes to the check out then tell cs I have been overcharged. This happening to anyone else?Boots and Tesco tart!! :heartpuls0 -

It's not happened to me yet, if it did I think I would say, 'what, oh I'm not sure what it said on the shelf dear, I always check my receipt at the end'. Then (if it was an R&R) I would on that occasion go to the car with my shopping, then come back in empty-handed.
I would then make a point of going to the shelf to check the SEL, then on to the CS desk and say 'I have just come back in to check a price on the TV I have just bought. It was only at the till that I got to thinking that the shelf price tag MIGHT have been cheaper than I paid. I have just checked and it is, shall I show you the price on the shelf then bring my item and receipt in for you to check I have the right one?'
At least then they cannot swipe the lower SEL while you're out at the car.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

After a positively unpleasant experience (and my aplolgies if this has been posted before), tesco appear to have a new and improved R&R dodge - It is called the Link Saving. The shop post a SEl stating buy x and get y half price. The saving does not come off - go to CS and they say only the half price item is mispriced - R&R only for the linked item!?
I am attempting without success to have this differentiated from your basis BOGOF or other package deal - but 'Tesco Legal' a secretive bunch not availalble to speak to the likes of us (lol) - have made this ruling and if I want to take it any further I have to go either to 'trading standards, court or the local manager' - the alter of whom is bound to overturn the ruling given by her duty manager. (the managers ruling given in a crowded store near the front entrance and with several CS and security staff surrounding me !!!
The R&R should total nearly so Mr Leahy or his mail filterer is recieving an email tomorrow. May make me feel better anyway.
Just a heads up! Excellent forum though, ahd goods to the value of a good few pounds so far - thanks to all.0 -

comicmankev wrote:Can anyone explain why certain items scan at different prices in different stores?
Several different answers to that one -
Express and some Metro stores use a different pricing structure (more expensive to run equals slightly higher prices, circa 4% I believe)
Store can over ride a price, for instance to correct an error or for a local promotion
Discontinued, delisted or seasonal lines move on to store specific pricing, to ensure a level sell-out time across all stores.
Probably a few others that I have missed...Who or what was I before you came in to my life
I am not sure0 -
