No, you are going to need some sort of proof of purchase.

Edit - Don't MS repair them under the garantee? I'm sure I have read of people contacting them direct and sorting it that way. Documentation would have been in the box.
Just to elaborate a little on this you do not necessarily need your receipt as proof of purchase, your credit card statement will suffice but in any event if you have received r&r on the xbox then that is clearly proof of purchase in itself and should have been recorded at the store where purchased and again at head office so either would be as suitable port of call to return the item.
A retailer CANNOT insist on a receipt in order to satisfy your rights if you have bought a faulty item.

In the first instance, I would suggest ringing the help line number for the provider - should have been given with the reciept at the time of purchase. The majority of problems can be sorted out quickly this way and at least they will confirm the unit is definatly faulty rather than anything else (ie user error).

Im interested.

cake one goes through at £1.50 but all the others go through for more than face value.
everybody must be on to this now - my local asda has run out of magazines ( apparently they have had a rush on them in the last two days)

Had once success and 2 failures with the uniball pen coupon from the ASDA mag which is scanning at £4.50.
2 failures were both at self scan check outs - came up that voucher number had been exceeded?? Bought £9 of goods and tried to use one voucher. SA then got involved and over rode it to 50p :( So watch out - it may not work.

    Hope this helps

    Top Mum :)
