You do realise that the Pulse Mini and the Wildfire actually have the same resolution screen?
HTC were really trying to be cute with the Wildfire, it's a real bargain basement specification (it even uses the same old 528mhz processor from the HTC Hero) and dressed it up to look like a mini Desire. The only thing not bargain basement about it is the price, compared to the San Francisco it is well overpriced, even at £130.====0 -

My point exactly, Dearer phones always make people want them but sometimes they aren t that much better. My pulse mini was £59.99 and the wildfire is at least £129 99. which is £70 more, a big difference in my opinion. Mind you compared to cpw prices for the wildfire £129.99 is a bargain as they were selling theirs for £229.99 when i enquired the other day  Ps i like this emoticon and have always wanted to use it lol0 -

The Modaco site instructions for APN seem similar to Orange's instructions to me:
change new APN to Orange-WEB and then set APN to orangeinternet and change more settings to http://orange world.co.uk.

Just a point to note, the APN (actually everything you mention) has nothing to do with wifi, those are the settings for using the 3G phone data.
Wifi is totally separate, does the phone "see" your wifi network, when you try and connect to the router do you get the opportunity to enter your wifi security code? What method of wifi security are you using on your router?
Also the mention of the wifi fix in the Market is a red herring, it fixes as fault where the phone doesn't reconnect automatically to the router after being asleep, not the inability to connect in the first place.====0 -

I'd be concerned if your router wasn't listed, which means you've got the SSID hidden (but you've checked that already), or you could add it manually using the "Add WIFI network" option if it is hidden to enter the name of your hotspot.
The only other thing I can think of is if you can see the hotspot but can't connect to it with the correct passkey (Is Case Sensitive), is you have MAC address filtering turned on at the router, which essentially refuses any new connections if it doesn't recognise the device's MAC address. So you need to add it to the authorised MAC filtering list. Have you tried this?
Thanks I have not checked if the MAC address filtering is turned on at the router, and will try to do that.
Also d123 - re security and does the phone "see" your wifi network, I think it does because it says connected to plusnote in the settings area of the phone. I am not sure what wifi security we have when using the router, but I think its just a password. Thanks also for saying that the pulse and wildfire have the same screen resolution (I did not know that).
Guys dad - Thanks - I am sure there are some helpful Orange shops but when I took it into an orange shop yesterday they were not interested and told me to ring customer services.

just out of curiosity , RE- wifi , not sure if it's already been asked richmondhamptoncourt you haven't by any chance clicked the "forget network" as i did that, and it never connected, i ended up clicking reset and starting again and it worked fine,0

Barjam - not that I am aware of but will check later (in office at the moment and SF at home). Could I have done that but still be able to see plusnet as a device listed in the settings?
Really wish I was more of an expert on this and could tell if its just the phone thats faulty or me (not smart enough for a smart phone!).

Same resolution? Yes.
Same panel size? No, the Wildfire is 3.2" against the Pulse Mini's 2.8".
0.4" is hardly a huge difference, the Wildfire is not that much better than the Pulse, in the same way the 0.3" difference to the San Francisco isn't much, its the fact its resolution is so much higher that it makes it so much nicer for browsing or apps like facebook or iplayer.====0 -
Oh yeah, the SF screen beats them both with ease (especially if you're lucky enough to get an AMOLED one, but it's not likely anymore), add to that it having a hell of a lot more RAM too, I would pick it over either of the other too (unless I wanted a flash, then the choice is made for you really).0
