You are comparing apples to oranges, the San Fran is a well specified smartphone, the Cookie is a budget touch "dumb" phone.

Oh thank you for that :D i guess that both can be used on the internet then but sanfrancisco is much better for some reason. Ive reserved a sanfrancisco with argos for £89 99 + £10 extra for top up wich i cud do without really but hey ho. Would you like to elaborate on why you have come to that conclusion to someone like me who isn t very clued up on fones but gets there in the end.:)

The San Fran is a proper smart phone, you can add apps to the phone from Google Market, and you can even re-flash the firmware if you feel like it. There are apps for virtually everything, including proper satnav apps, alternative web browsers, different keyboards, you name it, there is probably an app.

The Cookie can make calls and send texts, and to an extent do some limited browsing. Other than with java, you can't really add other apps.

Go for it, (as long as you have the spare £s), you will not regret it, especially from something as basic and budget as the cookie. After a few days you will be amazed at just how much more you can do with it.

The phone comes loaded with a market app (there is also an orange app store application, don't bother with it), you can download thousands of free apps from it. There are paid apps but you can do pretty much anything with the free ones.

As for reflashing firmware, while I can do it, I haven't bothered with the SF as it runs fine for me. The only thing you might want to do when you get it is switch from the horrible orange home screen to the standard android one - easy to do with a couple of button-pushes.

And it can be unlocked with a free code if you don't want to use Orange.

GiffGaff. £10pm buys you 150 minutes any network, unlimited texts and *unlimited* internet (not the unlimited 500Mb or 1Gb that's advertised as unlimited). :) Runs on the 02 network too so coverage is pretty decent.
