Yesterday I ate a kipper that went off on the 7th and had been open in the fridge for two days, it looked, smelled and tasted fine and i'm fine!

    Hi Ladies
I have some beef still leftover from sunday. Will it be ok if i do it in the slowcooker as a stew or should I just chuck it?

    Thank you!

If it's already cooked, there's no need to do it in the SC :) I often make mine into curry, just half an hour in a pan on the hob will be enough.

From a food safetly POV, 3 days is the usual advice, so as long as you've not kept it in the kitchen for ages, it should be fine, but please use your own common sense :D

Just thinking it may have gone abit tough - it was a tad over cooked to begin with. Was hoping a spell in the slow cooker might tender it abit?

As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add it to the Food Safety thread :)

Its a dried cured meat so I'd be okay using it if it was two or three days over. Chuck it in, you wont die I promise :T

I always use meat even if it's one or 2 days out of date, it should be fine!
