Ford Cashback and Motability

Hi, we are changing our car over in April and was looking at the new Ford Fiestas and have noticed that in some areas there is cashback being offered by the dealers.

Is this a Ford company wide thing or is it by a dealer by dealer basis?

Seems strange as Ive never seen any cashback before from a motability car (aside from the good condition cashback) or have been able to negotiate anything. Or am I being just naieve?

Can anyone please advise?

  • Where I live, the local Ford dealers are offering this 'discount'. However in the advert in the paper, in very very small print it says it applies to new Motability customers only.

I actually went in and they were not giving the discount to existing Motorbility customers (whether you have a Ford or otherwise), it is intended for brand new Motability Customers. I suppose if you could stand a break between returning a current motability car and ordering a new one you might get away with being a 'new' customer.

It seems my local Ford isnt offering the cashback, however after driving it the other day and the OH uncomfortable journey in it, it looks unlikely we will be getting one.

Just changing subject a little, is it possible to negotiate things like little extras like car mats etc with dealers or are they bound to not offer these?

Would be interested to know this as well. I presume you can for low price items such as mats and flaps as the dealer does get some money for selling a mobility car. Not sure how much money they get but I'm sure you could play a couple of dealers off against each other.

My motability car came with mats found this in another tread

However, just collected a Honda with a friend and they couldn't do enough for him, discount on the advance payment, choice of number plate and a full tank.

maybe he was just lucky but worth a ask

Ended up getting a Seat, comes with mats apparently so no room for negotiation there.

    discount on the advance payment

wow is this normal? i thought the advanced payment went to the mobility and not the dealer. I thought the dealer just gets a handling fee so didn't think they could discount the advanced payment fee

From my experience and from what i have read it is rare to get a discount on AP.

The AP is set by the motability. If the dealer gives a discount it is from their end so they have to make up the difference. Dealers do not make any profit from motability sale.

If they didn't they wouldn't sell them.

I got £200.00 cashback from Volkeswagon last year, when i got my new motability car. Didn't know anything about it until i went to collect my new car, they said it was rewarded when cars are returned in good clean condition and low mileage. It was a nice surprise and i received cheque within two days.:j :j

that is not a cashback, it is called good condition bonus (GCB). If you return the car in good condition the motability themselve will give you a GCB. It was £200 now gone up to £250.
