The Housing association,BPHA, have stated in a formal reply to our formal complaint that they decided to use the NIBE system because and I quote "a gas boiler is 90% efficient where as a NIBE boiler is 300% efficient".
Which to us is a statement of "we don't really have a clue".
Where have these people been educated and why are they in charge of social housing....0 -
Biggest problem with loves farm after seeing a few installs , is the heat pump size is massively undersized and the unit is heating the rads via a big immersion element heater, not a massive fan of the units but to be fair to it it's not got a chance if undersized.0

On our facebook page (nibeboilerproblems) we have had a lady that got the local coucillor involved and the housing association ripped the nibe out...
I really do hope that this is the start of the HAs realising that the systems are phoo....
we are looking into a away of re wiring our 360 so the fan only comes on when the compressor runs....that will still supply pleny of ventilation....our house is 1 year old timber frame 3 bed semi ,,,,under shared ownership.
One option we are also looking at is bolting on a secondary boiler such as wood chip or even gas,,,,its easy to do....nibe sell a kit (£45)to add these on....should cost £1,500 to £2,000 for a gas boiler bolt on alot more for a wood chip burner....
Have nine sent anyone out yet. I did offer once to go round making sure they were set up for them if they sent me some parameter settings but had no reply0 -
Yes NIBE,the installers and HA did a complete sweep of all systems...
They are still banging on about how efficient the systems are ...yet the maths dont lie......
We are connected to gas and thus should have a gas boiler....electric power will not beat gas in the Uk currently as electricity is more CO2 producing and 3 - 4 times higher in price...the NIBE system needs to be a constant 350% effecient to beat gas currently....and the 360p only has a CoP of 2.1 (or 2.6 without the fan running ) so will never achieve a saving in CO2 nor money....its a con if you have gas connected to your house and unless you have developed a new mathmatical system and the HAs have broken the level 3 code of sustainable housing which we have now taken to the HOusing Ombudsman,.....I still cant believe that anyone has the bare face cheek to say that these systems beat gas......FACT THEY DONT (unless you have a secondary heat supply or a bio mass electricity producing farm)which none of us have.0 -
They will run close to gas installed correctly but gas is still the cheapest fuel to run any system on0

Not the nibe systemIf you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0

Look a system well designed to meet the full output of the house will run very efficiently, as I said I live in st Neots and have been to loves farm, the issue nine have is they have units not big enough to cope with the house that arcane huge immersion heaters built in for back up, this is a typical new build. Buy cheap throw them up without any care and deal with issues after, most of the company's specifying and installing theses units know nothing. Also a lot of the units are thrown In on factory settings instead of having the parameters changed, I'm not a fan of the nibe unit to be honest but it's not got a chance when installed the way it is0
