Thanks Cinny, still can't believe it but can't get too complacent and let it slip this time. This is the first time I've been debt free since I was 18. Cash spending is the way to go, as is having proper savings.0

Thanks SA & Urg,
You're right, this is the hard part now. Although I don't know what to do with myself now, keep looking at my spreadsheet and thinking I should be planning how to pay my debt off, guess it's a good habit to keep, means I'll know exactly what I can and cannot spend in future (I hope).0 -
Hey there!
I was skiving (sorry, filling downtime) and saw you mention that you were now DF in another post - so pleased for you
A little embarassed that I didn't post in your thread for about 8 months, but hey, I picked a good day to come back?
Trust me, you'll find more than enough things to occupy yourself with now that you don't have debts to fret over - before you know it you'll have joined us on the Savings & Investments board and will be moaning about chasing a decent savings rate etc0 -

Thanks guys (and it's great to 'see' you edinbugher), thought about you last week when I made some bean chilli from the recipe you gave me, thumbs up for me and OH!
Well £2 spent today on my boxing training - 2 flipping hours tonight and I nearly passed out on more than one occasion. Think I need to take a 2 litre bottle with me next time, which is Wednesday, eek.
Just making dinner now, never sure whether to eat before or after, oh well late dinner tonight. Fishcake, cabbage and sweet potato (again) then a nice bath as didn't do that on Friday - had a shower instead - and my legs have been aching.
Well say night now all, not going to know what to post now
P.S. Just got a call from PT, having a consultation on Monday, woo hoo, and it's cheaper as sister going with me.0 -

That was one of the gym activities I quite fancied, but I had to cancel my bargainous gym subscription (£12.99/mth) as it would have cost to much to get there. We're moving house (for the final time before we buy) and I've had to get a £676 rail season ticket. Couldn't justify the £10/wk I would have had to spend on bus fares on top of this to keep up the gym, so am jogging in Queen's Park instead and lifting some little baby weights
On that note, when the heck did season tickets in Scotland go up to £600+ (bar Glasgow-Edinburgh)?!P.S. Just got a call from PT, having a consultation on Monday, woo hoo, and it's cheaper as sister going with me.
PT = personal trainer?0 -
It's a gym near me edinburgher, my cousin is a coach there, it's mostly guys actually training to become boxers. One 18 yr old girl is fighting next week, she's really good. I'm just doing the training, just call me Rockette!
Don't know about season tickets, is that for train fares? Not on trains very often thankfully, but the way petrol prices are going, might need to start.
Yeah personal trainer, it's my 2nd cousin i.e. the boxing coach cousin's son and he's giving us it way cheaper as a family discount.
I've realised exactly why I've not been able to lose any weight, had been too busy concentrating on clearing my debts and couldn't focus on more than one 'big' thing at once. Now the debt is gone, I should be able to spend more time and focus on losing weight and getting fit. It showed that yesterday when I was playing with my spreadsheet and thinking 'damn, I've nothing to do now'. So, I've got my book with me today - I will get Jane Austen finished, I will.....0 -
It takes a bit of time to adjust from the 'I've got nothing to do but concentrate on my debts' phase, you'll get used to it. Re. weight, I also found that I stayed pretty heavy when my debts were at their worst because unhealthy junk is the cheapest food you can buySo, I've got my book with me today - I will get Jane Austen finished, I will.....
That's the spirit and hey, if you don't finish the book you can always beat her up!0
