  • GAH - lost my post!!!

    In short:
    • Its about you [STRIKE]and your man[/STRIKE]
    • Only compromise on things you really don't mind compromising on
    • A wedding on a budget can be as awesome as one with oodles of cash thrown at it = quality vs quantity / its not the size of the budget its what you do with it
    • If poss try not to land yourself with wedding debt cos it can be depressing to be paying for the day long afterwards - tho appreciate not everyone can do this, so delete this comment as appropriate
    • Anyone who criticises/complains about the way you have your wedding is down right rude and tbh i dont think they will as you will look too lovely and radiant and everyone will be so happy for you both!

Aw thanks guys, I know I shouldn't compare what our wedding will be like to others as at the end of the day it's the getting married that counts. I do think it will be nice and simple (a bit like myself) and I am determined we won't get into debt for it, so no need to delete that comment Mrs GG.

LOL at the rowlocks piccie, we'll be having some men in kilts so hope not pics will be taken - probably zoom lenses would be needed anyway :rotfl::rotfl:

Well, been tweaking finances again and have transferred money from savings - daftie that I am thought I wouldn't need the last lot I moved over so moved it back (again) - the bank will be wondering if I've lost the plot. Anyway £790 to be paid this month which leave £790 for next month, I am SO determined not to go into April wage, I want this paid off using Feb/Mar wages, it needs to happen.

It's really hard trying to separate wedding debt from my debt though as the candleabra stuff I bought was off ebay and therefore on my CC, so I've deducted this amount and added it onto the BT amount, I'm starting to downright confuse myself though.

Two days to pay-day and I can officially make my payments and update siggy, yeah.

Hope everyone is well and thanks again for re-assuring me, think I've got early wedding jitters :o

    One day to pay-day tralalalala.......

Getting my hair dyed tonight by my sister so hopefully no spends for me today as will be going straight home after getting it done.

Making macaroni tomorrow night so all I need to buy is cheese and some garlic bread so should be a low spend day. In fact I really should get the stuff tonight as the shop is near my sister - kill two birds with one stone and all that.

Had a nice lunch of ham rolls topped with coleslaw, yum, not healthy but yummy. OH came down with the dinner last night and a nice bunch of flowers for me. He's been in the doghouse since the weekend where he left me sitting for nearly two hours waiting on him whilst he was watching the footie. The problem with this was that he called me at half time and said he'd be an hour then wouldn't answer my texts saying I was waiting on him.

I was starting to get mad as I was also bursting for the loo so I just left him there and came home, he had to walk, ha. All sorted now, think he got swept away as his team won, but as I said if he had told me two hours at least I would've known and not got annoyed.

Going to updated my siggy just now as even though paid tomorrow, my DD's don't come out til next week and I think I will burst if I don't see my siggy changed.

Should hopefully be a quietish month, just got a race night next week which I am NOT looking forward to. Apparantly it's a 'dirty' one and if you get picked to be a jockey you've got to have a 'dirty' name. We've got ours picked but I can't repeat them, the reason I'm not looking forward to it is that I will need to have a LOT to drink, I'll be mortified otherwise. And when I have a lot to drink, I am ill :o

Well, I've took £40 out of the wedding fund for stuff I had paid for on my Visa and normally I would end up spending this but no, I've added it to my payments this month, a colossal £830.91, obviously some has came from savings. This leaves me with debt of £850 BUT mines is actually only £720 as the other £130 is part of the deposit I paid for my hen weekend.

I say hen weekend, it's really a nice weekend with my mum and sisters in a nice lodge complete with hot tub, the weekend before the wedding. Actually two lodges as there are 8 of us and they sleep 4 each. It was a great price, coming out at £445 for 3 nights for both of them, this will be divided by 6 (as niece and nephew going but not paying), so £75 each. I was thinking of paying a bit more but I'll see how the money situation is nearer the time. Don't want to commit to it just now.

£720 to pay next month (I also get extra travel money in March wage), so debt freeness here I come.....

    Hi Swinstie

Your wedding sounds ideal - more love and thought goes into a wedding that you plan down to the last detail yourself (even if it is due to budgetary restraints) than one where your throw ££££s at it and let a planner do all the choosing for you! My wedding was done on a shoe string - friends and family all the way - and it was a fab day. Whilst of course the wedding day is important, its the marriage that counts. Enjoy every second of it!

    xx

Thanks EB, I know what you mean about doing the planning ourselves, makes it much more personal than having a wedding planner doing everything. I think I just want to get it over with so I know it went ok IYSWIM.

Been having a wee spending spree, some candles and two ceramic love hearts for the wedding. I got some black and gold glittery letters and I'm going to stick Mr & Mrs on one side and Bride & Groom on the other side and hang them on the back of our chairs - we decided against chair covers/sashes, so thought this would be a nice touch. Black for OH's and gold for mines, have cut out the letters and sat them on and they look lovely. Not sure how robust they will be so will stick the letters on properly nearer the time.

Also between OH and myself, we bought his mum and dad a new microwave, tea/coffee/sugar jars, oven gloves (cos they don't have any) and a new tea cosy. All in came to £64 so quite good value, got some stuff on sale. They've just got a nice new kitchen but still have old microwave from 1950, ok maybe not that early and we thought they could do with brightening the kitchen up. Hope they like it and are not offended we bought them.

So, didn't go to the gym this morning, he denies it but I'm pretty sure he was taking a hypo this morning. Made him drink some milk and have a cereal bar just to be on the safe side. Feel guilty now about eating the emergency twixes I had in the fridge.

Anyway will get to the gym next week, had a bit of a sore leg anyway so could probably have done with missing it. Might go for a walk later. Have a nice weekend.

Afternoon all, what a lovely day it is today. Shame I'm at work.

Well got petrol at lunch-time, not even filled up and it was £40, boo. Made my overpayments to BC CC and will do my other one on Friday. Been a bit spendy AGAIN, have still to get OH's share of the microwave/over glove etc., - a bit about that, his mum put the new tea cosy on the teapot then proceeded to put the teapot on the electric ring - it now has nice brown marks inside cos it started burning. She didn't realise the ring was on which is quite scary, the whole kitchen couldn've went up.

I bought another headpiece off ebay as I decided that I would let my niece wear the first one I bought. It's a bit bigger (and was dearer) but I seen the same one selling for £180, I got it for £65.

Only problem is, the girl who was selling it said she changed her dress at the last minute and it didn't go, cue me worrying that it won't go with my dress. Been googling all morning to see if a silver/crystal headpiece would go with an ivory dress. Some say yes, some say no it has to be gold with an ivory dress. Eek.

Not that it's the same thing but I have a silver legged table in my livingroom but have gold framed pictures on my ivory walls and it looks ok together - ok, I'm grasping at straws now.

Ok, so I'm back on my frugal ways, had baked potato, beetroot, coleslaw and the rest of the ham from lunch today, for dinner, it was very yummy. Didn't have enough bread to make sarnies tomorrow so the ham had to be used.

Also got lentil soup on the stove just now, using up carrots and leeks I had in the fridge. Got a wee cup of it just to test you know.

So it will be soup for lunch tomorrow, along with some ryvita, a banana, yoghurt and a cereal bar. Oh and porridge for lunch, forgot to take it with me today so it's in my lunch box already.

Been having a look at my finances and between Jan and Feb wage, I was £17.31 over budget which is not too bad considering I was £205.88 over-budget this time last year. Had a quick look and nothing jumped out except I had a few nights out which obviously added up.
Got race night this weekend but hoping not to spend too much, might try and sneak some vodka in.

Still on track to be debt free next month, Visa has gone up but it's wedding related spends so not counting this as personal debt, although I will have to pay it, just don't need to have it cleared by end of March. I'll get the money back anyway come September.

Well soup is a bit thick so better go and put some more stock in it or it'll be eaten with a knife and fork.

Evening all, I am so bored but can't be bothered doing anything more interesting than watching tv.

Had baked potato (I am addicted to them) with chicken kiev and coleslaw for dinner, lunch was my yummy lentil soup, yoghurt, banana, cereal bar and of course porridge for breakfast. Someone bought me a small latte and it was yum, can't give them up completely but will try and cut down.

My new headpiece came today and it is gorgeous. I don't care if it doesn't match great with my dress, I'm wearing it. Showed it to my mum and she liked it too and assured me it would go with my dress, so I'm happy with that.

NSD today as took lunch and haven't been near any shops, first one since pay-day last Friday, really need to plan my spends more. Also, made my overpayment to my Play CC, although I must admit I think I might be quite skint this month but have got loads of food for a week or so, so if I can just stay off ebay and out of shops I'll be fine. OH is cooking dinner on Friday so he'll bring stuff for that, got loads of rose wine and some Bacardi Breezers in the house so shouldn't need to have many nights out, apart from the race night but knew that was coming up anyway.

March pay-day, hurry up, I want to be debt free already...........
