As already noted, some of the posts praising this company have a strange similarity.
For anyone in any doubt about their trading I recommend having a look at the host of adverse entries about this firm at sites such as reviewcentre or shopsafe.
All the best to those who claim against their card provider or attempt chargeback. If there are many such, hopefully VISA and others will also eventually take note.0 -
Sorry to bump this old thread but I thought I should share my experience with other consumers.
To begin with I can honestly say it was worst buying experience ever. I have become so frustrated with the manner in which I have been dealt with and the blatant disregard to my rights as a consumer. OK I will try to make this as brief as possible.
I purchased a table and chairs from them which arrived several weeks late. When they eventually arrived I assembled the table and 3 of the chairs (I couldn't assemble the 4th chair because I had no screws!!). I then noticed that the stem of the table was dented and the glass table top itself actually had several marks (like damp patches) in the glass. I was not too bothered about the screws, or the dent (although it is still unacceptable!!) my main concern was that the glass was stained throughout. Prior to assembling the product I could not see the marks in the glass, this was because it had to be assembled on the floor and no light could pass through the glass.
I contacted the company in the hope that they would either sent me replacement parts or alternatively replace the product in it’s entirety. How wrong could I be. I have been told that they are not able to do anything because 1) I assembled the goods, therefore I had not taken reasonable care and 2) I have thrown away the packaging. The result is that they will not accept any responsibility, no replacement or refund. It appears that their view is that the companies terms and conditions supersede my rights under the Sales of Goods Act and that of the Distance Sales Regulations.
At the beginning of July, I sent them a 4 page letter before action outlining the facts of case. I was hoping that they would be sensible and resolve the problems amicably, again I was very wrong. I received a response via e-mail which was a few lines long basically reiterating the terms and conditions, I responded stating I would take their reply to court with me. I received a further response which purely said “please do” which I thought was both rather amusing and also very useful (as evidence!).
Interestingly enough, two weeks ago I received a call from the company asking how we could resolve the complaint. I explained that I am not interested in having any further dealings with the company I wish to have a full refund and I wanted them to come and collect the table. The lady I dealt with was extremely apologetic and agreed with my request, I thought “what a relief”. As a result of my previous experience I politely asked if she would be kind enough to send me an e-mail to confirm the conversation and most importantly the fact she agreed to a full refund. Low and behold I never received the e-mail.
I called the company a few days later and I was told that there is no record of any conversation, I asked if I could speak to the lady who was dealing with the enquiry and no one had ever heard of her.
I have completed the N1 form today, which will be submitted to the County Court on Thursday together with allthe evidence that I have. I have also put in a claim against the company for compensation due to inconvenience, distress and loss of enjoyment. It might not sound like much, but me and my family have not been able to sit down and enjoy a meal together for the past two months because of this fiasco. Once I have obtained the judgement and I am sure I will be successful. I will upload it here so you can see what me and many other customers have had to deal with. It will also be interesting to see their comments when the judgement is here for everyone to see.
P.S. are any of you experts at completing particulars of the claim? Also, do any of you have any relevant case law that may strengthen my case – any comments regarding anything I have mentioned or any advise would be greatly appreciated.

We bought over £2000.00 worth of furniture in August 2013. Most of the items were delivered ok but 1 item was damaged. Another item, Dining table and chairs worth over £800.00 was not in stock. We were told it would be 4 weeks, after waiting 8 weeks we asked to change to another table and chairs which was in stock and cheaper. This table was also damaged!! We are waiting for a refund of over £800.00. We contact them every day by telephone and email, we have been told several times a refund has been arranged but we have yet to receive. They are now avoiding our calls. I have contacted my credit card company who are now dealing with it. I have also reported to Which consumer rights and Trading standards. DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY TO THIS COMPANY!!!!0

SCUMBAGS.... I ordered a dining table, visited their showroom numerous time to chase, they charged me 40 for the delivery and delivered a broken table, then blamed me for that, saying it was fine when we delivered it. How can you check if its in the box packed, they explain they check every item, but thats all BS**t, original packaging was intact. RIP OFF FASHION..
All the newbies and good reviews are their offshore team working in Pakistan. They like to make up reviews and polish their image. Trying to be smart !!!!!! but what they dont know is the revolt is growing against them and Trading Standards are closing in as I have been told.
Look for yourself..

Fancy footwork over a 'wooden' shoe cabinet
I have been waiting since November for this company to collect a return, but its web-based contact system does not work
I placed an online order for a wooden shoe cabinet with Furniture in Fashion! of Bolton, paying almost £85. It was described as "solid wood" but it was made of MDF, so I contacted the company to organise a return. I have been waiting since November but the painfully annoying web-based contact! system simply doesn't work. KP, Rayleigh, Essex
Furniture in Fashion is the trading name of World of Fashion (Manchester) Limited and its sole director is 72-year-old Mrs Shamim Akhtar. I have also tried to contact the business, but messages are ignored and the phone isn't answered. Bolton council said its trading standards service was already aware of other complaints and was "investigating". There may be a perfectly innocent explanation but it is interesting! that, according to Companies! House, Furniture in Fashion Limited has been incorporated in the last two weeks, with the sole director being Mohammed Asad Shamim.
I put it to Mr Shamim that one company was being closed and another was rising from the ashes. This was denied and I was told the business was "running fine". But Mr Shamim has personally! intervened and the shoe cabinet will be collected and a full refund! made. Let me know if anything goes wrong with this arrangement.

I bought a gloss white sideboard last year from furniture in fashion and this week discovered that the veneer on the top was starting to come unstuck,I phoned them to report it only to be told that there was nothing they could do as I had only seven days from the day of purchase to report a fault. So don't buy from this shady outfit unless you are not bothered about crap goods and crap service. I am going to go down the section 75 route for some satisfaction.0

You've got to love it - well done - now how stupid do you think everyone is....?0 -

furniture in fashion do not deal with them as they are not a professional company I agree with you as i have had this experience recently
the company website make it impossible for you to claim your
money back unless you have claimed via credit card or go to court
I dont understand why this company is still trading since these reviews are from 2011???
QUOTE=PH1;discussion/2958044]I wish to warn those considering doing business on-line with Furniture in Fashion, registered as World of Fashion(Manchester) Ltd of 180, Bradshawgate, Bolton of my experience. Had I read other consumer reviews of them beforehand I would not have dealt with them.
I ordered a sideboard which was delivered faulty and in any event was not acceptable or what I wanted to buy. I cancelled under the Distance Selling Regulations. They advised they would not refund delivery charges and to date--now outside the 30 days maximum period allowed--have refunded nothing at all despite repeated requests and my advising them of their statutory duty. Their so-called customer support has taken me on a tortuous circular journey of obfuscation and it seems misrepresentation.
I contacted Consumer Direct (CD) and complained about them and their Terms and Conditions which purport to exclude rights, some of which they cannot legally do under the Distance Selling Regulations. CD advised there may be criminal breach in the company's statements and published trading terms and they will report them to Trading Standards.
BE WARNED!!!! IN MY EXPERIENCE, GETTING MONEY BACK FROM THIS COMPANY IS PROBLEMATIC AND THEY HAVE ACTED DESPICABLY.
I would have been confident in a Small Claims Court action but
have taken a route of less hassle and made a Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act claim against my credit card company.
0
