Distance Selling Regulations Retail Trading Furniture in Fashion

I wish to warn those considering doing business on-line with Furniture in Fashion, registered as World of Fashion(Manchester) Ltd of 180, Bradshawgate, Bolton of my experience. Had I read other consumer reviews of them beforehand I would not have dealt with them.
I ordered a sideboard which was delivered faulty and in any event was not acceptable or what I wanted to buy. I cancelled under the Distance Selling Regulations. They advised they would not refund delivery charges and to date--now outside the 30 days maximum period allowed--have refunded nothing at all despite repeated requests and my advising them of their statutory duty. Their so-called customer support has taken me on a tortuous circular journey of obfuscation and it seems misrepresentation.
I contacted Consumer Direct (CD) and complained about them and their Terms and Conditions which purport to exclude rights, some of which they cannot legally do under the Distance Selling Regulations. CD advised there may be criminal breach in the company's statements and published trading terms and they will report them to Trading Standards.
BE WARNED!!!! IN MY EXPERIENCE, GETTING MONEY BACK FROM THIS COMPANY IS PROBLEMATIC AND THEY HAVE ACTED DESPICABLY.
I would have been confident in a Small Claims Court action but
have taken a route of less hassle and made a Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act claim against my credit card company.

I can not beleive how many bad experiences people have noted on various websites regarding this company. They are DIABOLICAL. I have had a similar experience with a faulty item which was also damaged and of crap quality. The company have made it as difficult as possible for me to deal with them, using their useless on line support system, not replying to emails, not being able to actually talk to someone. I have tried constantly since 17 November to obtain a refund they eventually offered a replacement which I refused and again asked for a refund on 30 November since when I have constantly been in touch with them and they now have replied to say that has so much time has elapsed that I am not entitled to a refund which any idiot knows is not true. I too have contact Trading Standards as unfortunately I paid with a DC not CC and therefore have to go through the further hassle of trying to fight this myself. They really are a horrible set up - they defy belief and I am sure it is only a matter of time before action is taken againist them - they have literally made me ill with all of this hassle - I have never dealt with such a bad company - they make the old ntl look good. I would be really interested to hear of anyone else's expereinces particularly if they have taken the Trading Standards route. Thank you.:mad:0 -
Which debit card did you use?The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

Hi FlyBoy and thanks for replying - I used Visa Debit (Nationwide).
Thanks alot

Visa have a refund scheme available for debit cards called "chargeback." It may be worth contacting them and discussing your situation. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

:j Well, pleased to report that Nationwide have confirmed they can try and get this back for me under the Charge Back Scheme - apparently, according to n/w there is no min or max spend that applies and the time limit is 6 months from date of receipt of the goods which is great news and although I know it will take time, at least it takes the stress and hassle away from me so thanks so much for that - I am sure not many people know about this - I really had no idea so thanks again xxx0
