TBECKETT seems to be a bit of an expert on this - he has a website which details how to possibly get the bargain honoured, maybe?

    http://www.lossofbargain.co.uk/

    Hope this helps someone!

i bet there is a man up there in very laughing his head off. the amount of money they will make purely by the thousands of people heading over to the site to look at the error...

I bet there isn't. The people who worked on these items on the internet could probably lose their jobs for this huge mistake, it wasn't just one it was far too many mispriced items.

And the big bosses won't be happy with the bad publicity, like it or not MSE is seen by thousands, it's going to take hours of their staff to go through all this and contact everyone and l bet no-one ends up purchasing.

I bet no-one is laughing, this is bad for them.

    Happy moneysaving all.

and there is a diference between how companies are run too...there are quality companies who would rather lose a few quid on a deal to keep customers happy and improve their overall reputations and there are those who are short sighted.

I have had a quick look.
It's looks as though in the B&Q case and the pixmania case that the contract was formed at the point of payment, whereas with Very it's at the point of delivery (according to their Ts&Cs).
I have been told on Motley Fool (very knowledgeable people there) that this T&C has never been challenged but I'd be delighted if anyone knows otherwise.

If it is not the norm for an internet contract it may be deemed an unfair term or condition.

poet - Iwas told on the fool that it's been the norm for over a decade. If anyone has contrary information then I'd be delighted to hear it.

Here's the outcome of the B&Q case (from MSE thread).
The one case that got to caught lost. The claimant was ordered to pay the Defence's legal fees which ran into the thousands. Not content with the amount the Judge ordered the claimant to pay, B&Q are now pursuing them for further costs.
I would love to go after them if there was any chance as I have legal insurance, but I don't think it looks promising, although I'd be delighted to hear any other reasearch.

    Anyone else done any?

Some of the cases took a year to get as far as court. I'm not sure I'm up for that. I was only hoping for a bargain.

There's a big difference between losing a few quid to keep potentially loyal customers coming back, to losing many thousands in order to keep on the right side of (mostly) opportunists who (mostly) have no intention of becoming loyal customers.

I don't mean to be offensive in using the term "opportunist" - if I had seen this thread earlier enough, I too would have tried to take advantage, so I lump myself in that category.

Amazon is generally regarded as a reasonable quality company with normally reasonable customer service. They too cancelled orders after a similar misprice of a PDA 5 - 10 years ago.

i wouldnt be surprised if they have sneakily done it on purpose to get more people to register and look at other things on the site, some people have even mentioned that they have set up credit account. the cushions a few weeks ago were also on very and some people set up credit accounts then, and now this.. its not a few things being mispriced its MANY things being mispriced, and look at the amount of people flockign to the site to take advantage which might damage their rep but if someone spots another bargain they will benefit from not only the sudden amount of huge hits but also people buying things they may not have done before purely by browsing
Who would say I couldn't make you mine? You were mine since th' beginning of time. Who would say we were far apart? You ever reside in the core of my heart?
