    Day 6 Champix

    Hi everyone

I am still not feeling well, think it's a bug not down to giving up smoking. Not got alot of energy and ended up back in bed this evening again. Still doing ok and am not noticing the cravings. Most of the time I don't think about it.

For anyone that is still thinking of quitting, the fear us worse than when you actually stop, it was for me anyway. Well done to all that are suceeding. This thread has really helped me to stay motivated, thanks to everyone that posts you are all fab.

    Take care

Oh dear, Caz, how very sad, try your very best in time to try to put things right, life's too short not to. How about ringing her and the 2 of you going somewhere away from everyone and just talk, but not harp over the past. I'll be plenty of her thoughts have been heading your way on her Birthday too. :) On the smoking front, you've done terrifically!!! :T:T Isn't it wonderful to have a friend to look forward to and helping you already to get your health back!

So sorry to hear you're poorly, topsyturphy, I agree about it being due to a big though and not down to smoking. Let yourself get plenty of rest, and take plenty of water so you don't become dehydrated. Mainly just take it easy. A great last paragraph with all you say too - well done topsy! :T:T

[Qote=determined new ms]my ds obviously felt for me earler after he found me crying and took me out for a run to "motivate" me  all I can say is he is a sadist![/quote]

Oh dear DNM, that struck me as so very funny, bless him - his heart was in the right place even if you weren't!!! :rotfl:I honestly was sad to hear of all that's wrong with your car...what was it we were saying about treating yourselves! Well, you either look upon the repairs as one HUGE treat or try and make room for tiny ones,it depends how much you love your car - not a lot at present, I'd guess! :D All in a life time DNM...and so is quitting, but it's waaaay more important and you're doing brilliantly!! :T:T

Hi debie and congratulations on 8 + days of being a non-smoker!!! :T:T It's good to hear your lungs are becoming more free from all the muck and rubbish in them. I was delighted to read how pleased your Dr was that you'd quit!!! Keep up your mantrawhenever you need it <<"I'm setting myself free, your not my friend">> Excellent!! :D You're right about a glass of wine being an iffy drink to have when you're so vulnerable, wait until you're a lot further in to quitting, then just be careful. Stay strong, debie!

Stay strong everyone and when you need a firm word with Nic, try debie's mantra

"I'm setting myself free, your not my friend"

So today's another day and a good one I hope, all the bad stuff is now in the past and I think things will now look up;)

I hope everyone has a fab smoke free day :A

Yay for DNM, 11 days is a great achievment and yes do the Spa day and you will be all nicely relaxed after it.

In to day 9 for me, can't say it's pleasant, coughing all last night and hard to breathe, must have an underlying chest infection as during the day it's ok but come the night time, euchhh nasty.

*gross factor 10 warning* Blew my nose this morning and the amount of gunk was off putting, then blew again and again and it just kept coming' back in bed now and I can still feel it all making me wheeze.

It can only be a good thing but this is more than the giving up clear out, must be an infection from somewhere.

Hi DNM and another day to get the best in enjoying it whatever. We all get times such as your car, you can cope same as we all do, but if something like having a spa can make you feel good and come our having thoroughly enjoyed it, do it and spoil yourself - you've deserved to and what's better is that it's free!!! Enjoy yourself!!

Hi Mat. so how many days for you then and by what means......?!! Well done Mat, whatever it is, though it's good to be able to glance up at the Title bar and see - or in your case - NOT!! ;)

It sounds to me as though you've more likely got sinus problems as the coughing at night isn't productive (coughing up muck) right? You seem to be lying down and coughing which most early quitters do, but the yucky rubbish seems as though it's coming from your sinuses next day. TMI for some folk maybe, but are you blowing out greeny/yellowy rubbish? If so get yourself off to the Dr and seek his advice, but I suspect it's a post-quit infection due to the lack of smoking. Get it treated, get free and move on. At least your Dr can advise you.

    For you Sue ^^^
  • Hello Everyone!

Im Kate and I've been lurking for about a week and a half!
I finally decided last Thursday I would have my last fag on my dinner at work and then pop over the the stop smoking centre opposite and get quitting.

I'm now on day 6/7 and using a mixture of patches and lozenges sp.

I have been couching up some unsightly things but I do have cold at the mo so not sure if its a mix of the two at present.
I can breathe alot easier and am loving not stinking like an ashtray.

The reason I decided to quit was I was getting worried and paranoid everytime I had one I wondered if I would be the statistic that gets cancer or another smoking related illness. I'm getting married this year and I know my fella hated me smoking but he was never pushy about it, I thought to myself I could do so much with the extra cash and at the same time hopefully live longer and get to enjoy being married for a very long time rather than die early thanks to the ciggies!

I am a very stubborn person, some people may think this is a bad quality to posess but for me its worked wonders, When my friends and family asked me to stop, I wouldn't, cos I was stubborn, but now I've decided to do it for myself, I'm too stubborn to now give in!

Anyway, just thought I would introduce myself cos Ive been reading this thread with interest and some of the tips have really helped. The Man I saw at the stop smoking place was really helpful too and said I had a lot going for me as my partner didn't smoke, I very rarely drink, I didn't smoke indoors etc. I thought I was going mad the other night as I have been having some very wierd dreams (even though i'm only on the 16hr patch) but nevertheless I have carried on going and am all booked in for my first check tomorrow where my Carbon Monoxide levels will be tested and I'll get a pat on the back!

Again thanks for all your help, I will post back tomorrow after my check up xx

I’m selfish, impatient & a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control & at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best. :)Marilyn Monroe

The wedding is booked! I'm getting married 29/07/2011!
  • I know!!! I may definitely have to up my Facebookage. Or rock in a corner with beer. It's not that near so I'll think of something dastardly in the meantime, I hope ;)

I'm going to take over DS x-box for 8 hours or failing that, as you said rock in a corner humming/chanting to myself..or I could just get on DS's nerves ;) Oh just noticed the time got to get back to work..P.E. this afternoon good job I've now got the energy to keep up with the children :rotfl:

  • Hi Guys,

I have been reading your posts on here for the last weeks or so - I have been thinking of giving up for a while now, but was really scared about how I would feel - I have now decided to go ahead with it after reading what you guys think and hearing your encouragement. So last night at 7.30pm had my last ciggy and have decided to quit!
Well im sure im not the only one but I was thinking my partner doesnt smoke, only 2 or 3 friends smoke, I always smoke outside at home never in the house surely this cant be that hard.....
How wrong I am? I did give up over 3 years ago for about a year and all I can remember from then was always thinking about having a ciggy - I dont really remember it being sooo hard but im sure it was.
I was fine today until lunch time as thats the usual reason for me to go on breaks so I can have a fag...and i got home and thought i cant do it - had a good chat with my partner (who has given up for around 6/7years now) and that helped, then I got back to work and was fine until now and Im getting the same unnervy feelings that i cant do it, will i be missing out?, what happens when i see these people who do smoke?
I need some encouragment - I really thought it would be at least a day before i started doubting what I had done so I am quite disappointed in myself - as my partner said isnt it crazy how much that little white stick has all the control!!
Anything that any of you guys think will help - please put it this way
    Thanks for all your help
    Anna :)

    Anna Welcome

Don't know what to say to you but hold on in there. You have to ride the cravings, they don't last long. Don't do your normal routine stuff that will give you the triggers.

I think drinking lots of water, cranberry juice and deep breaths for first few days really does help. You need to keep yourself occupied so your not constantly thinking of the cigarettes.

I think I read that by drinking lots of water and juice it helps to flush the nicotine out of your system quicker.

My husband is x smoker (20 years ago) and often says about the control bit. I keep telling myself that I am setting myself free and it is not my friend. The evenings are worst for me.

hope this helps a bit and we are all here for you.
