Morning all
I'm currently smoking but no longer want to be. Iv'e tried the patches and gum and throat spary but not really worked for me. I did quit for 3 years with the easyway to stop smoking book but shamefuly started again.
I'm in 2 minds wether to finish the pack iv'e got and go cold turkey or pay £240 to go to the clinic. It's a lot of money, money i don't really have. I'm getting married next year and money is really tight. Hmmm what to do.0 -

If you think the clinic is the best way to go for you then you should look on it as an investment. Depending upon how many you smoke the cost is equal to around 2 months worth of cigs.
I am using the easy way and perhaps you could use that again as a cheaper option. After all, you gave up for 3 years so that was an effective method for you. People start again for all sorts of reasons but that doesn't mean the method they used to give up was entirely at fault. Many people would love to give up for 3 years so you should be proud of yourself for getting through that length of time. I gave up once before using the easy way but started again after 3 months. However, this time was much easier for me having been through the process before- and my resolve is much stronger.
Good luck and best wishes

Good luck- you can do it.I do not smoke. I last smoked on 03 November 2011. I will not give in to that awful addiction again.0 -
Hi all. It's been such a long time since I posted in this thread but just wanted to give a small update and hopefully encourage some people quitting for new year. I stop/started smoking a couple of times last year - sometimes a week, 3 months, couple of days. But in January of 2011 I finally quit for good. I was a pretty heavy duty smoker, at least 20 a day and was also going through lots of upheaval during the time I quit (relationship ended, restructure and threat of redundancy at work) but I don't even think about ciggies now. My bank balance has improved, fitness has (slowly!) improved and the freedom of not panicking about when I can have my next fag or what if I run out is just amazing.
Good luck to anyone quitting and thank you to everyone here for your support.[STRIKE]Total debt 1.11.10 £23,446[/STRIKE]Save £6k in 2015 #129 £6121.66/£6000Save £6k in 2016 #39 £6000/£60000 -

Good luck- you can do it.
Iv'e re-read the book but something didn't work for me the second time around:( and for some reason its proving very difficult to stop this time around.
Best of luck in your journey to becoming smoke free0 -
I'd personally try the book first Part Mouse...
Otherwise I'm the e-cig guru...Haven't tried them but apparently you can get disposable e-cig's in Mr Te for £5 (I think it's just the big stores) which may be worth a shot...£5 v £240 - no comparison...then if you like them PM me and I'll tell you the details of the e-cig info websites (so you can spend all that £240 on trying out e-cig gear)
There are other ways...Sue is our resident expert pretty much...If you're in a tiss I'd suggest reading this thread from the beginning for ideas..
Sure you can do it via willpower - I'm just a 'special' case - hence I use the e-cig..But even if you were to spend about £10 on the inhalators from ebay just for the first few days and stock up on extra strong mini mints then you've got nothing to lose...
My DS gave me a hug yesterday when she left...first one I've had off her in years...know full well she would not have done that if I'd still been on the weed

PS. Sue just in case you were wondering - have gotten the hang of the big holes in the cartos and still no cigs and no nasal spray. Crave the nasal spray about 4pm then just have rescue remedy....Does the job :j.....E:dance:

Hi Part Mouse, good to see you back. If you really do wish to stop then good luck to you, but you need to be in the right frame of mind where you WANT to quit first. We've never had any bad reviews of the clinics so why not give it a go, it could be money very well spent - so long as you really do wish to quit! Whatever you choose I wish you all the very best as there's nothing quite like having said cheerio to it for GOOD!!! Keep chatting to us all as that helps too.

Very wise advice there, Fundamental, so how long have you quit for now? Stay strong FDM, you're doing just GREAT!!! :j
V e r y...m a n y....c o n g r a t u l a t i o n s copperjar!!!
To have quite for almost a YEAR is a marvellous success, something which you should be so very proud of!!! :T:T:T Keep it up and always stay strong.Keep on working at the fitness and increasing it as it will get so much better as you expand your lungs more.
Sue x
NB. Please everyone, could you kindly put how long you've not smoked for and the method used on your Title Bars, it helps you remember and motivates you and it helps guide others looking in.
ie. 13 years (since Christmas Day 1998!!!) via cold turkey. :j
Keep going everyone and never, ever give in to thoughts of "just one puff/ciggy" it doesn't work like that and only leads to even more misery all over again!

To be honest i am absolutely dreading the 2nd jan, the date i've set to give up this evil habit that has been destroying my health & controlling my life for the last few years, i have to give it a try as last few months i've been feeling increasingly unwell every day,all day, smoking 20 superkings a day. I know its the fags thats making me ill & its got to the stage now where i daren't go to the docs for any regular women's checkups cos i'm scared they might find something ,i'm 53 yrs old so should be looking after my health now? Trouble is i lead a stressful life, work fulltime, single mum of 2 & smoking has become a friend to me & i know that sounds so stupid but it has. I tried giving up about 2 yrs ago, lasted 6 wks,had the patches, gum everything but i was craving cigarettes every single day & got myself into a state that i gave into it! Ididn't know about this marvellous thread back then & i think if you know that others out there are experiencing the same feelings everyday as yourself & can share tips etc then that can help me get through im hoping. So i'm dreading the big STOP its like stepping off the edge of a mountain to me! Please help!!0
