RealButter, that hurts my head just reading about it.
Lovely cutie little babies. Aww!
A colleague brought his 4 month old son into work this morning, whilst his wife nipped to the Dentist. Very cute and squidgey. But I honestly am not broody. Memories of the screaming match I had with my 7 year old this morning, wipes out any emotions like that.
I'm currently trawling the Ikea website for storage ideas for his room. It's a state and it's not really his fault, he has nowhere to put things and having a birthday and Christmas so close has just made things 10 times worse.
Currently thinking:
This and this. Just need to check how big the space is.0 -
RealButter wrote: »Thanks Jillie it's such a tricky one. DH does 1 job 48(ish) weeks of the year, 1 job 50 weeks of the year, 1 job 40 weks a year and 1 job 30 weeks a year! And then probably 4 other one off jobs throughout the year. He gets paid when he does the work for 3 out of the 4 and the other one weeklyish in arrears after he does the work.
I currently have a monthly wage but only until April, then it will be as and when I get orders and they will vary with frequency and value.
Crikey. I have my work cut out!
have you looked here ? http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/Budget-planning or the budgeting board might be able to help better
if it was me i'd use the 2 jobs he works most of (48 and 50 add and split by 52) the 40 and 30 i'd add them up and split by 52 weeks. the one off jobs i wouldnt use as a regular income.
when you work out a payment plan through cccs everything is worked out weekly.
if you can, as yours will be infrequent i'd not include them if at all possible'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
Thanks Jillie, just been filling that in actually! Should have thought about that first before I posted really. That's what I've done with DH's stuff, added it all up per year and just put it in that way. We're just gonna have to be more careful not spending all the money we get in each month to compensate for the months when he doesn't work so much.
I've just guesstimated the minimum amount of work I expect to do.
Figured since I just booked flights for us to go to Paris for 3 nights I'd better work out how we can afford accommodation and spending money lol0 -
I was going to suggest what jillie said. I'd use the 4 main jobs and split between 52, working on a weekly budget and use the odd jobs as a buffer/emergency fund/treats0

Welcome MV and CL. Thanks for posting such lovely photographs of your babies. They are both gorgeous xxRealButter wrote: »
So, just in case anyone has seen my FaceBook status today, sorry for the swearing, and it's not about me, it's about a friend who's girlfriend punched her in the face while she was driving, and who cheated on her in the toilet of a club they were out to together, amongst other things. I replied to another friend's FB status saying she was a t it and apparently she didn't like it.
Pleased it's not you. I was quite worried.RealButter wrote: »Back on a money related issue, does anyone who has fluctuating income have any tips on a budgeting spreadsheet? I find it hard to do as both mine and DH's income is different every month and is paid at random times throughout the month.
Mine is random due to being self employed. It trickles in at various days over the month.
I get all my wages paid into a savings account. The money that has trickled in over January will be moved into my current account on the 31st Jan and that's what I can spend in February. Feb's wages go into the savings account, get transferred to current account on 28th Feb and thats March spending money and so on.
I get tax credits weekly, so I do the same with those too.
I budget on the average wages I usually get, but I put the extra money away in good months to top up the bad months.
Charlotte has been so naughty this evening. I don't know what has got into her. Nothing serious - just deliberately disobeying most of the things I've said to her. I told her in my stern voice that I was really disappointed with her and her behaviour had really upset me, so she went and lay face down on the sofa and cried her eyes outShe came and gave me a cuddle later and said sorry, so we're friends again now!
Here I go again on my own....0 -
real butter... Your income situation sounds tricky, but I would do as you are and split it all weekly.....it just happens that this is what i'm in the process of doing as we speak, because our income is weekly, fortnightly and 4 weekly,, so it varies each 'month' On paper it works out well, but for some reason never seems to add up in real life!!!!
Lovely new baby piccies:D
WM, I am another who is not in the slightest bit broody, two friends have also announced their pregnancy's to me in the last few days and normally I am gushing about how jealous I am etc.... this time however, I couldn't think of many things that would be worse.

RB - DH gets paid a basic salary plus commission, but his commission is very sporadic at the moment, so I always budget for Worse Case Scenario, which is just receiving his basic salary. So I'd think about the lowest months you guys have had recently and go from there. Average it all out and just err on the low side.

That is irritating considering I had Josh in the same hospital. I was sitting on my bed feeding him and talking to the lady in the bed opposite. The nurse came in and told me off for feeding with the curtains open and pulled them all round my bed "for my privacy." I felt like a leperOr spray some polish in the air a few minutes before DH comes home so it looks like you've been busy :rotfl:Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

Hi Susan:D
I bet it is nice to have outside contact again now;) I hope you aren't feeling too bad at the moment. Ooooh I was meant to ask you something...stamps! are the stamps you colect ones that are from used envelopes...sorry if that seem a stupid question, but I am really clueless about these things....
I am browsing around the net instead of getting on with my budget, because I am trying to delay the reality, of seeing that we actually have very little money:(Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

lilian1977 wrote: »A question - how long can I expect my episiotomy stiches to hurt for? I feel like there's broken skin down there, it really stings, but OH has had a look (poor thing!) and says there isn't - having a shower first thing, using baby wipes to clean after the toilet and then a bath in the evening so I am keeping them clean. Also, how long am I likely to bleed for?
I think the books say bleeding lasts six weeks although mine was more like eight. It does slow down significantly though so for most of that time it is pretty light.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5
