Thought I'd delurk again and say hello to the new arrivals.. here's me thinking 'ooh I remember you, and you and you all from the other threads!'
becles , Thank you, thank you! Have spent the last 10 mins laughing my head off reading through a few pages of the autocorrect site... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::T
After the last 2 days with Tigger's colic playing up I really needed that cheering up.
Cracked and went and spent ££ I didn't plan to on Dr Brown bottles today to try and help with it, he's had a few feeds but not noticing THAT much of a difference yet. Gripe water/infacol didn't seem to touch it anymore so have stopped those. He's starting to show signs of silent reflux, even though he's on the thicker comfort milk. Will take a trip to the docs next week if no improvement over the wkend.:( Maybe the magic of Dr Brown (which everyone seems to go on about) will rub off on us over the next few days, fingers x'd :think:0 -
CL is basically at 6 months offering bubs finger foods whole like brocolli, bread sticks, cauliflower etc and rather than spooning it in their mouths getting bubs to feel the food, then take some if they want. Just seems to save time doing the purees, freezing them as you can basically offer them what you are eating (within reason!) and can be involved with your meal times. Seerms to be mse to me as just need a bit extra for bubs rather than buying food to make for them.Thomas born 28/08/2010 weighing 5lbs and 4ounces, small but perfectly formed :j:j Now weighs 19lbs and 5 ounces

I hated the laying around bit when I was expecting Charlotte and got bored really easily
Stuff them!
You're a new mother and naturally you're knackered as babies take up far more time and energy than you ever imagined them to do. If you decide you'd rather bottlefeed than breastfeed as it's easier for you, then go for it. As long as you and baby are happy, does it really matter what anyone else thinks?
Advice worth taking: grow a thick skin now as they bug you right through about following guidelines and doing what they say is best, but sometimes that advice isn't really what is best for you as an individual.
Charlotte asked me this evening if I'd ever sniffed a flamingo. I've absolutely no idea what was going through her mind when she asked me that :rotfl:
Keira is obsessed by poop, honestly, I hope she doesn't grow into some scary chick that gets off on poop!
We were standing at the traffic lights on monday and she said to me -
Keira - If I throw my bracelet on the road, what will happen?
Me - It will probably break.
Keira - Would it make a car crash?
Me - I said, it could, that's why we don't throw things on the road.
Keira - Yes I know it's silly.
Keira - If a car crashed, and the people got dead, would their heads be covered in diarrehea?
I was just like:o:o and the people at lights next to me were howling with laughter. She is a liability! Like the time she bawled out on the bus that I killed her, and I was like no I didn't, yeah member that time you chocked me.....but then I got alive again!
I was like :eek::eek::eek: I've never even given her a tap on the hand, let alone throttled her! Who does she think I am? Homer chuffin' Simpson?0 -
Morning
No - I've never sniffed a flamingo
I love Keira - she's so funny
Charlotte has a poo obsession too. When we're out with the dogs, I pick up after them but not everyone else does. She finds random piles of dog poo and asks loudly "is this our poo Mam?":rotfl:
James had another tantrum this morning, so she told him to grow up as his behaviour was quite ridiculous :rotfl:Here I go again on my own....0 -

Sigh..well I have been struggling again this evening with BF'ing. He was on for half an hour, but when he came off again he just screamed and screamed and screamed
My boobs are so sore, I'm really not enjoying BF'ing. In the end we gave him a bottle of formula which seems to have quietened him down.
I have the midwife coming tomorrow so will chat it through with her again, but they are hell bent on you perservering with BF'ing, and at times I just want to give up
I'm so tired...
I hope you find that your MW is supportive - I had one in the hospital who basically manhandled my nipples into Sam's mouth, he did eventually feed but it's more than I could do for myself when I was at home. My community midwife is brilliant though, she was happy for me to switch to formula whenever I wanted, although did get a breastfeeding group to call me as well - I didn't end up speaking to them though because I'd already switched by the time they rang.
If you need to vent, please feel free to PM me.
We're having a lovely morning here, had a bit of a battle with Sam until about 1am then I did the 4am feed so OH could get some sleep and now we're up again, he's fed happily and is back off to sleep while I have tea and listen to ColdplayMy debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

sir monster - we did baby led weaning (BLW) and it was brilliant. Quite a few mommies on here have done it and I don't think anyone's got a bad thing to say about the experience
.
Basically, you start off with easy-to-grab finger foods (the chip shape works best) and let them feed themselves. Lightly steamed veggies like carrots and broccoli are good. Pears, orange segments (bananas later on, as some babies can find them quite slippery when first starting out). Don't worry about how much LO eats as it can take 1-2 months (or more!) for them to start eating any decent amount of food. Also things like rice cakes, toast, bits of meat...really, you can offer them anything that's easy to pick up and chew!
MV, hope you feel refreshed in the morning. I did forget to say that feeding for 30 minutes is TOTALLY normal and I know of some babies that would go for an hour or more...so it might seem like a lot, but it really isn't when they are so tiny. It can get boring, but I watched TV or read a book to keep distracted from counting the minutes. SirM did have a good idea, maybe the screaming is just because he misses sucking? We introduced a dummy at 3 days and took it away around 4 months, it really can help loads.top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

I have a bottle feeding question - we're going to move to powdered from ready-to-drink today because of the MSE aspect of it and also we think we have our feeding regime worked out now. However, I've just been reading the can and it says you have to boil the water 30 minutes beforehand. So I wondered what everyone else does so that they're not stuck in the house all the time boiling kettles and then waiting half an hour! Also obviously when Sam wakes for a feed, he wants his feed NOW - 30 minutes just isn't going to cut it.
I thought about sterilising all bottles first thing, boiling all the water and then storing them in the fridge with water in until needed - is this the best way? It's going to take up so much room in our fridge and it's only tiny!My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |
