Thanks for the response you lot!
Supper was toast stamped out with a star cookie cutter. I put it down and she said "No Mummy" so I said "ok then, but there's nothing else until breakfast, just leave it there and I'll take it away later" and let her carry on with what she was doing and she did eat about 2/3rds of it, but if I was watching she'd say "yuck" (thanks Peppa Pig!) and put it down, so I think you're right, it is to get a rise out of mummy! Will keep you all posted!Toodles-SAHM to a beautiful 3 year old DD, Baby #2 on the way!Just started comping 02/11/11 Everything crossed!0 -
Had a lovely soak in the bath this evening.
Charlotte fell asleep when she was playing this afternoon, but she was awake in bed and chatting away to herself and I could hear her while I was in the bath. Been giggling as she's must have her toy phone and she's been mimicking me booking in jobs for work:
"hello..... speaking.......... yes I can go to Tesco on Tuesday......... yes, ok......... yes that's no problem........ thanks now, bye"
:rotfl:Here I go again on my own....0 -
wow this thread has really dropped off, has taken me about a minute to catch up!
Well work was ok went fast enough. Was a bit in at the deep end as was crazy busy. Had to dash out of the house as once I said bye and gave T a kiss she figured out I was leaving and start crying Mamama and was so sad. However T was fine and had a big smile and wave for me when I got homeOH was fab too and he took her out for a walk and got her off to sleep and managed to do a few bits around the house.
Had an email from Bizziebaby earlier saying am getting a product from Charlie Banana, after a quick google there main product is re usable nappies so hope thats what we get to try as I really wanted to use them.
Anyhoo best of luck to everyone back at work tomorrow, specially those mummies returning from mat leave.Baby :female: Tahlie Lois born 15/3/10 7lb 12 oz :heartpulsWorking on baby no2

If you did BLW then you will know that the idea is to treat food not as a reward or punishment but just as fuel. My DD is 17 months, and I know a lot of people with toddlers, and from what I can see, the best thing to do is just feed them when they are hungry, making sure it is healthy, and don;t make an issue of it.
My DD already sometimes refuses to eat for a day, and will just maybe eat a small piece of cheese all day, or demands wee-bix at teatime.
If it's healthy food she wants (often I offer her a list to choose from) then I don;t mind what she eats when, we do have mealtimes, and she sits at table with me/us for them, but if she doesn;t eat that's fine, she can get down but play on her own, if she is hungry later I explain it is because she didn;t eat but then just offer some cheese or tuna or yoghurt.
I know it is hard, but I do think they will eat OK if you look at it over a week and don;t make an issue of it.
also, if they are teething or ill they usually go off food for a day or two. I am so glad I breastfeed my DD cos even if she won;t eat she always has her 'Scrummy' so I know she is getting some nutrition. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Hi Skintchick, thanks for replying.
It's hard not to make an issue of it when she's seemingly eating so little, and making an enormous fuss of eating so little.
I'm thinking of getting toddler milk in for the extra nutrients, but then I'm pretty sure it won't help as she's a s*d for refusing to eat then slurping down her milk or water like there's no tomorrow to fill her up.
I'm also thinking Grandparents/christmas/Daddy being home a lot over the past couple of weeks have possibly mucked her up a bit, Daddy has appalling eating habits which she usually doesn't see due to him being at work, and maybe things will be better once he's back at work and our routine's re-established?
She was breastfed until 14 months, then she self weaned. I bow down to you still at it at 17 months! Well done!Toodles-SAHM to a beautiful 3 year old DD, Baby #2 on the way!Just started comping 02/11/11 Everything crossed!0 -
Hi there - my son goes through stages too of fussy eating. My cousin's boy is 3 yo and had a stage of 2 weeks where he would hardly eat anything (and wasnt ill). She told me to not make an issue of it, and sometimes I will put his food out but instead of sitting with him where he may kick up a fuss, I would hide in the other room but will watch him through the gap in the doorway and he will eat it! Although at the moment we are going through eating dry food stage (pasta/rice but no sauce/meat anything). So I dice up veg into his supernoodles. If she is eating toast, maybe do cheese on toast/pate on toast/peanut butter on toast for those extra calories. Good luck...
Oh and on days he has hardly anything I give him 1+ milk and vitamin syrup to ensure he is having his nutrients.Single working mummy to 3 year old cheeky monkey DFD: July 2016 - Tesco Loan [STRIKE]£14,000[/STRIKE] £13,490 / Owe dad ([STRIKE]£500[/STRIKE]£450 / Very account £[STRIKE]70[/STRIKE]60 / Overdraft £270 = Total (Jul11 [STRIKE]£14,940[/STRIKE] Now £14,300 (Paid off £670) Need to lose 14lb (3/14) (currently [STRIKE]11st12[/STRIKE] 11st9) Deseparately need a holiday for 2012 (£0/£1000) - Car Fund (£0/£1500) - Christmas Savings (£70)

It's hard not to make an issue of it when she's seemingly eating so little, and making an enormous fuss of eating so little.
Just recognise that it's you creating the fuss about it
The good advice has already been given and I'm glad you've followed it and that it's worked so far. Please keep it up. She is only screaming because you're making it an issue by becoming anxious and worrying about her, which is of course the right kind of reflex, but if you trust that she will not starve and recognise that we all have our moments of felling not so hungry, you'll be fine.
I'm afraid I'm a 'smug' mum who has never had any issue with my kids eating or not eating. We have issues with other stuff(!) and they have their moments but the rules around food have always been clear in our house although it's so easy it feels like there aren't any. I followed the same advice that you have from when they were small. We all eat exactly the same meal at the same mealtime. No salt is added to food in cooking so when they were little there was no problem with them being able to eat our food. No fuss is ever made about whether they eat it or not and it's cleared away when dinnertime is over. The only other thing on offer away from mealtimes is fruit, so if they don't eat their dinner, there is still soemthing available - food isn't withheld.
DD has her moments of not eating that much sometimes at a meal, but it's never a problem and both children eat such a wide variety of foods that I'm very proud of them. DD is 5, she doesn't like sprouts but sprouts go on her plate like they go on everyone elses. One day, she'll start eating them! But she loves olives, curry, almost everything, just because every type of food has been a part of her diet.
Good Luck with your little one - I think 2 years old was the most difficult period with both of mine! It was a relief when they came out the other side.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Thanks.
I managed to get some from boots. But rather annoyingly L hates them LOL
I was resolving to make him try a few times so he learnt, but he was refusing to feed on them. So they are on the side ready to try again at a later date when we're a bit more established on weaning.... Dont wanna overwhelm him....
Weaning update - im not entirely sure we're making progress and i blame it all on gina ford! was only reading the free book for recipes but now i feel like im holding L back by having waited.... Hes doing well with porridges in the morning, but really hates veggies ones, just spits it out LOL But ive made my purees now so we'll see what happens.
Ive got parsnip, carrot, apple, pear and apple and pear combined....might try and do some sweet potato tomorrow.....
As for baby led, I still cant decide whats a good for to just give him to try.... can i give him like a long chunk of banana? He doesnt really chew at the moment...just sort of laps at everything LOL
He does however take the spoon from me and feed himself his porridge, which would be fine if he didnt turn the spoon and end up with half of it on his chin :rotfl:Wealth is not measured by currency0
