Bank Holiday and in work ppffft!

Well I have actually cleared the crap from on and around my desk and done some filing. So my work area does look slightly better than it did last year.

I actually ironed again last night, so all ironing and washing is up to date. I would really like to stay on top of it all this year, but i just know by the end of January the spare room will look like a Chinese laundry again.

OH is at home with the boys today. Not sure what they are doing this afternoon, but this morning I had numerous texts updates as to what Alex was watching on TV, ITNG, Waybaloo and Balamory, sigh!....

I really need to log onto internet banking and see my balance, but i'm too scared, so hoping there is £100 in there to pay the childminder this week. But at least it's only 15 days until payday and i'm not waiting and praying for the 31st Jan like most. I really wish I had your determination Weezl, I really am awe of all your challenges and have no idea how you do it all.:A

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how I can get my 2 year old DD to eat, as recently she's begun being stubborn over eating in general.

We folloed baby led weaning and she's always been a really good eater, with a really good diet. The only things she wouldn't eat was minced beef (so recipes calling for it would be substituted with minced lamb) and pizza.

Now it's a battle to get her to eat anything. She'll say when she's hungry but refuse to eat anything put infront of her. At the very most she'll have a few mouthfulls to stave off the initial hunger then refuse to hae anymore, even going as far as crying and getting into such a state she makes herself sick?

Is this a common thing with 2 year olds and does anyone have any ideas?

I love that film! I took the boys to see it at the cinema, but it was really because I was desperate to go but didn't want to look sad going on my own :o

Boys played with Charlotte a lot today so I managed to get loads of stuff cleared out of her room without her noticing. It's amazing how they suddenly get attached to plastic tat they've not looked at for months, as it's about to go in a bin bag!
Here I go again on my own....
  • Children go through funny phases with food and if handled correctly it will pass quickly. When my dd did this at around 2yo my mum suggested the following and the problem was solved in a couple of days...just give her finger foods for the time being eg, Toast cut into triangles for breakfast with a bit of soft cheese, marmite or jam. Then for lunch and dinner make sandwiches/baked potato wedges with a dip/chunks of cheese/veg sticks/chopped up fruit etc

Put out the meals at the normal time when you will be eating but just put her plate out at her place at the table but don't tell her to eat it or even ask her to sit at the table (for now). If she hasn't eaten while the food is available say for half an hour then take it away. Don't pay any attention whether she eats it or not for a couple of days. You might find, as I did, thet she'll wander over and grab a sandwich eat it then walk away. HTH

Thanks for that. So if she doesn't eat it within the allotted time then, say, at luchtime, and it's taken away and half an hour later she's claiming she's hungry, do I try again, or wait until snack time?

Sorry for more questions but it's awful, she's choosing not to eat but I'm feeling as though I'm starving her!

in my experience (3 kids, 6 grandkids) yes, its very common even with normally 'good' eaters! they are at a stage where they realise that yes, they can control certain aspects of their lives! and doesnt it get a lovely rise out of mum and dad!
I found the best thing is to reduce portion size and just put her meal in front of her. if she says she is finished after only a couple of mouthfulls, take it away without comment (especially not 'coaxing' another mouthful). then NO snacking allowed except for fruit until the next meal.
and try not to worry! give it a few weeks and see how it goes. if she seems fit and healthy then she is getting enough nutrition, if not then a visit to the gp or your HV may be in order.

My little one didn't want to eat by himself. I tried all the tricks I could think of. I asked the Health Visitor what to do. She said to put the food in front of him and all of us to eat the same food. Praise him if the eats and ignore him if he doesn't eat. After 30 minutes take the meal away and don't give him any snacks/food until the next meal. I said to her, but he is going to be starved. She laughed and she said. They ALWAYS start to eat in a few days and they never let themselves starve.

You are not alone. It is a very common problem :) Good luck and be strong!!

Let us know how it goes ;)
