    Hiya Loumac -

What sort of dog do you have? I have one too and they can be expensive - I paid £30 today for my dog to have a hair cut!! (what we like hey!)

Good going with the tutoring too, extra £25 will come in really handy!

    Enjoy your weekend xxxx

    Happy Saturday everyone.
I have so far walked the dog, had my breakfast, done a load of washing and we've just finished the physio session for the hound! Hubby has gone for a run around the park as he's in training for an event in Scotland in March.

Muffin - I have a retired racing greyhound - Roxy (Previously known as Black Razldazl). We've had her since March and she's the most amazing dog. I've always loved dogs but we never had one when growing up so I've really enjoyed having such a relaxed and affectionate breed. I can't tell you enough how wonderful they are! She had a fall about a month after we had her and tore her cruciate ligament, it's been a long and expensive (thank goodness for pet insurance!!) process of recovering though. We're getting there...

Today I have lots of moneysaving things to do:
    1) Tutoring at 11. (£25 into the bank account - maybe an extra payment towards credit card?)
    2) Write a letter of complaint to homeserve about my heating policy. (I had no heating for 12 days in December and twice they failed to send me an engineer to fix it!!)
    3) Get as many insurance quotes as possible for car insurance due at the end of January.

I also need to phone/email/write letters to a number of companies to change my name to my married name. Main one to chase up is my car ownership document and the lease on my flat.

In addition we need to do our weekly food shop so need to see what's in the cupboards and freezer first - will only go shopping with a list!

And finally I've got 60 books to mark and some planning to complete for school.

Oh and I had said I'd volunteer for a few hours at the kennels where we rehomed Roxy. Hmmm...might be stretching myself a little bit today.

Feeling positive - writing lists does have that affect. Washing machine needs emptying and I better sort my resources for tutoring.

Have a good day all. xxx

Woop! Nothing beats writing a complaint letter. Feeling fired up! :rotfl:

Complaint written to Homeserve and sent so will wait excitedly for their response. Fingers crossed there is some financial recompense!

Also did my tutoring and went straight to the bank to pay in the cash so very pleased, just need to decide what to do with it now it's in the bank. Hmmm...

What was next on that list?

So I paid the £25 off my credit card...need to update my signature now. :p

Haven't got much further on my list though as ended up getting sidetracked...which actually resulted in more money in the purse. :j

My mum's second husband (she's on her third now so I can't really call him my stepdad, though he was for over 10 years!) has been after a PC for a while and as we have a new laptop I said he could have mine. After clearing all my junk off it we drove it over and he gave us £50. :D It was only sitting gathering dust so it creates space and (when the bank is open) it can go on another debt. So chuffed with how the month has started. Just need to keep it up!

Where does the weekend go? Eek!

Well it's Sunday and I've had varying degrees of success on working down my lists.

Decided to go to the kennels today to help out as we didn't make it yesterday, ended up spending more than 4 and a half hours walking and looking after the dogs. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday. And I was very good and didn't bring another home, which was a huge temptation!

However, it does mean that I've done NO school work. :o Oops. No TV for me tonight then.

Still, it also means we've spent no money! Yay!

Thanks gothrockchic for the comment! Very excited to see you were aiming to get to download this year, it's been my aim for the past 3 years as it always falls on my birthday weekend. Maybe for the big 3-0?!? :D

  • Hi ya Loumac, I have never been to Download ever so my aim to do it before I turn 30. Do you find there is an unspoken pressure to do certain things before you turn 30? I feel it but no ones said anything about it. I have 30 things to do before I turn 30 list and I think I've done 9 things (it was written at the age of 27 lol)

Oh my goodness, massive pressure! Ha! I've managed to get married before 30 but scandalously have not yet had children. Tut tut! Not for the want of trying. ;) I did a sky dive and a bungee jump two years ago when I went to New Zealand and they were both on my list! Download would be amazing, but more live gigs would be nice! I managed only 3 last year (one was free tickets won through Kerrang. Woop!) What else are you trying to do?

Generally a quiet day money saving from me. Another NSD though and am more than a little proud the £50 cash I got for my PC is still sitting in my purse. I also had an enquiry about taking on someone else for tutoring so am keeping my fingers crossed that something more comes from that.

Off to be good and do some marking...! xx

Why is it that I start the week with such enthusiasm and positive energy and now I've hit Wednesday and it's all a bit... bleurgh! :(

I think I'm just tired as I've been working really hard at school. I'm aiming to complete EVERYTHING I need to throughout the week so I don't end up spending all day Sunday doing school work but it isn't half tiring. I'm once again on here and facebook and internet banking and . . . all instead of marking the 30 maths books and 15 literacy books sat by my feet. I just don't want to do them! :o

Two more days till the weekend though, but I'm not sure what else I can do MSE wise this month. I'm trying to stay motivated but hubby is looking at weekends away or new tents or new carpet for the hall and I can't keep up with which penny is going where.

I spoke to a mortgage advisor yesterday who did not have cheery news. Basically I can't remortgage as there is no equity in my flat so he's recommended risking just going onto the standard variable deal for a while. It will save some money at least but then I need to decide what to do with the difference... ARGH!

I'll have tutoring on Saturday so am paying that and the £50 from selling my PC into the bank but I've gone overdrawn so that may be needed for that.

Hmmm.... really am struggling to get my head straight today. Too much to think about.

Hope everyone else is having a better Wednesday.

Hi loumac, been reading your diary so thought I'd pop by and say hi. I've missed the debt free by 30 boat, but we've got a few similarities. I too love writing lists and also start flagging by Wednesdays! My mortgage deal has just come to an end as well, I'm paying over £100 less now so will stick on the standard variable rate for a little while then look to fix in a few months. I'm throwing the spare money towards my debts.

Good luck with your money saving and diary :)
