Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
morning everyone.
i'm up early/late depending how you look at it
havent slept at all yet. have been trying since about 11/11.30
given up now.
carrying on with the decluttering today. more washing to do and dry

have a good day everyone

Another bank holiday....
Seems like we have had far too many disrupted days.
Gloomy and grey here. I think we are off to the shops today to collect some sale items that Lakeland put back for us from the new delivery. Muffin/ cup cake tin with cover at half price. Very useful
Still got loads of food, booze and stuff, so Roast beef for tea I think...
CheersNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning everyone - and happy 2011 too.
Had a great time seeing the Bells in, a wee whisky, great company and home made shortbread!
Came back last night as I want to get a lot of 'stuff' done today, including some work type stuffas I now am attending a funeral tomorrow
and the work needs done. Shouldn't take me more than an hour so it's not too bad.
- Need to stock up on some veggies to go with all the meat.
- Declutter the house of carbs
- Declutter my mind of negative thoughts
- Vacuum up the shredded paper in the hall - knocked over the shredder on my way to the toilet this morning
I was in bed pretty early last night but tossed around for a while as I'd seen a debit on the current account for £86.00 from M&S whilst what I bought was only £36.00. Needless to say I had chucked the receipt so was worrying about it for ages - then the penny dropped from a very big height... I had asked for and was given £50.00 cashback! :j:j My mind is definitely on holiday.
Will go to Costco too and see what's around, need to do some batch cooking and keep the freezer stocked up.
I hope everyone is warm and well and that the lurgies are leaving.0 -
Morning all
Last day of the holiday here, this time tomorrow I'll have been at work for some time & will have already had at least 4 staff members in wailing & gnashing their teeth because they have lessons starting at 8 & they aren't prepared & somehow it will all be my fault, lol. I have a sign on my wall that says 'Your bad planning does not constitute me having an emergency' I shall wave it at them!
Scrambled eggs for breakfast & peppered steak for tea, no idea what the weather will be like today, I'm hoping it will be bright enough for hubby to play in the garden!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning everyone.
Tired again today, didn't go to bed until 11.30 (this is a late night for me) and up at 630am. Still 7 hours sleep (shut the cat up last night so one less to disturb me
) but it just doesn't feel enough
Off to Mr S this morning. I haven't been near a supermarket since 20th December which I think is pretty good goingBut am running out of things now so need to stock up. Will work out how much its going to cost in a mo.
Took kids to Stratford yesterday and whilst I was there I bought a big bottle of Metatone tonic. Only bloomin' well dropped the box and the glass bottle shattered. What a waste of £7Hope this isn't going to be a sign of my year to come, forking out and then damaging the goods <sigh>
DD has woke up in a foul mood and not long ago chucked her bowl of (dry) cheerios all over the floor grrrrrr. House is filthy and needs a ruddy good cleanBack at work tomorrow (inset day for the kids) so won't have much opportunity to start housework until Wednesday. Will try and make a start on it today though, kids permitting.
So not much OS really going on, starting to feel a little bit better finally.
OK that was a bit too much waffle
Hugs, spoons and high fives all round. have a good day OS or not.

Morning all, yet another bank holiday- it seems like we have had a month of Sundays. Don't know what i shall do with myself today- DH working, DS1 and DD2 busy with essays. Probably just a general tidy round, feel a little ropey too. Sausage casserole in slow cooker for dinner and i need some potatoes. Bought wallpaper and paint for kitchen yesterday just need to but the boring bits from Wilkinsons before i can start- hopefully when DS1 And DD2 go back to uni.
Sorry to hear your news Jackie O, thats so sad.
I'm also collecting loose change in a money box that you need a tin opener to get into- saving as my holiday fund.
Anyway have a nice day x0 -
Good Morning All
N9eav - think you are right, can't wait to get back to normal tomorrow - keep forgetting what day of the week it is!
Bargainbird - its the fuel increases that is really bothering me - ridiculous prices.
Am working 9-11 on my second job. The rest of the day will be spent pottering, probably mainly in my office as it is my January aim to get that decluttered and tidied up. Have a little bit of ironing that will definitely get done (positive thinking is the theme for 2011) :rotfl:
Took DS to town yesterday, he spent his vouchers and I got a bargain in M&S - half price beef joint which we had yesterday (and enough leftovers for another meal) and 2 half price gammon joints. Which will do 2 - 3 meals each.:j Other than that am all shopped out.
Oh no, look at the time - gotta get moving!x0 -
Morning everyone. OH is at work today soits just me and the kids. They are just watching a film and then I am going to get them ready to take the dog out. I have put the WM on and hung it up made the beds and had a bit of a tidy round.
Shepherds pie for dinner today using some leftover roast lamb I found in the freezer.
I am worried about the fuel increase, we try hard and do the extra layers and blankets but its been so cold we have still needed the heating on, hopefully once the kids are back at school I can use everything less and get back on top of things.
I think it will be aother NSD here I am going to make bread in the BM for with dinner tonight.
Have a good day everyone.
