Coolcait does analyse things a lot more than most people - but then some of us do (I'll put my hand up here too on this one:D).

Some of us do believe strongly in thinking through every opinion/option on the table for ourselves. Those of us who do can find it very odd when other people DONT think each individual issue through for themselves and just accept the current majority opinion on things - I know I do personally.....

If no-one ever thought things through for themselves on a regular basis - then we would all still be living in caves.

Or - more to the point and talking recent history only - we would still be keeping slaves (talking re countries where this has been the norm)/women wouldnt have the vote/effective contraception would never have been invented etc etc. (mind you - and I mightnt be "here" now "talking to you".....<scuttles off quickly> LOL).

I find your tone quite condescending Ceridwen. I feel I have thought through OP's issue, and given my valid opinion. I do have a mind of my own, despite what you are implicating.

My comment to Coolcait was totally tongue in cheek. In fact, I find her opinion far more easier to understand than yours;). Over analysing posts on a message board is all well and good, just as long as readers can understand your convoluted, often irrelevent analogies...:D

    What a condescending post.
You obviously perceive your opinions to be above other peoples.

i'm quite shocked after reading this thread

if she has those views against the OP having more children then she should keep them for herself and not make a point out of expressing them when the op & family are celebrating.
some people have suggested she might be bitter because she has never had any kids or husband and is jealous. that's no excuse to act like that. no way

    but personally,
i think the OP is being extremely nice and thoughtful
i would have told her to get the hell out of my house asap after making such a stupid, petty and rude comment.

What if the 2nd birth had resulted in twins or more?

Or what if your wife fell pregnant accidentally because her contraception failed? (If she's been sterilised or you have had the snip, what if that happened just before whichever of you had the op?)

I'm not picking, I'm genuinely interested in what your response would be :)
a trip to the doctors would be in order..we have talked about in the last two weeks as we had a scare due to the wife taking antibiotics.
we both agreed on the outcome if needed.
Our youngest is now 12 so she has 6 years before she leaves school and then we are going travelling for the next god only knows many years and the thought of waiting more and more years scared us as we are now stuck with out of term holidays. one coming up in four weeks:)
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

Geoff, you can agree something beforehand and then change your mind completely when in the situation, I said my family was complete then found myself pregnant - got as far as the second appointment (had a scan to date it to discuss methods) - couldn't do it, he's now 12 weeks old. Had you asked me a year ago I'd have said DH and I had talked about it and made a decision on what would happen, turned out when I was actually in the situation I changed my mind

OP - It's been 5 months now since you originally posted about this. How is the pregnancy going and how are things with SIL?
