Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 2nd Jan. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
2 more days before I go back to work, what joy!
The house is fairly clean & tidy & my work jumpers are all clean & in the wardrobe.
Hubby has another week off yet & is already planning next years crop growing. He only started gardening because I enjoy it, but has really got into it. He downloaded 2 books to his Kindle, one's gardening month by month & the other's Square foot gardening & now he raring to go. He's determined that the garden will be full of flowers for our Handfasting, he also want's to grow all the salad for the big day!
Breakfast will be scrambled egg & later we'll have roast beef.
Have a great day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester, Halight and all to follow.
Had a lie in this morning :j which was very much needed.
Today have promised to take DS to town so he can pick up a couple of DVD's with his Xmas vouchers. I will treat myself to a Starbucks and that will be it. Chelmsford now has a Sunday market so maybe will have a look there, sounds like it has a fruit and veg stall.
Whilst out will pick up a joint for dinner, wasn't sure between beef and lamb but think will have beef now as everyone else is having it too.
Ironing and then chilling later.
Have a great day all.x0 -

Morning everyone.
Very grey here in the Lakes again this morning but still above zero so Im not complaining.
Had a lovely call yesterday from DS and family in Australia where they live to wish us Happy New Year. They are on holiday with the children in the hot sunshine luckily not where the rain and floods are. Always bitter sweet to chat to them as it reminds me how far away they are. Hoping to go out there this year.
OS wise Ive been very good and spent very little in the sales this time just some cards for next xmas but DH has suggested that as we are not far from Windermere we might pop into the Lakeland store to look at their sale - too tempting I think. All those things I never knew I needed:)
Left overs from yesterdays wonderful slow roast lamb shoulder tonight so easy dinner
Have a great day everyone!

Morning chums ,bit of ironing to do today and I will cook my tiny gammon joint in the SC as well, that should do me for a couple of days this week.I may try to slice some up and freeze it for later.Dinner is at DDs as usual late afternoon.Oh it is nice to get back to normal after all the excitement of Christmas and hogmany.I love the holiday but I also like routine and normality afterwards.Just put a wash on this morning as Dd changed the bed yesterday for me.The duvet cover is going into the cupboard as a dust sheet as its fade beyond recognition and I think I will propbably use the bottom sheet for dusters as you could shoot peas through it as its so thin.DD bought me as one of my presents a beautiful new set from John Lewis' and she put it on yesterday and its really lovely. So the one that came off is being 'retired' at long last.
Not a lot else happening in my world today.Hope everyone thats gone down with the lurgy over the holidays feel a bit better.Touch wood I'm o.k. so far ,but I don't tempt providence ,so perhaps staying away from crowded supermarkets will help me in more ways than one this month. No shopping to buy for awhile as I have a full fridge/freezer and bulging cupboards to get through.
Cheers chums

morning all!
we are dropping DS2 off to work at Morrisons then off to Worcester to pick him a new laptop up - we've reserved one in the sale at PC World. Going to have a quick look around town while we're there as DH needs to change some cords he bought at M & S.
I've cooked them a sausage baguette for brekky and the chicken casserole is in the slow cooker. Just need to get dressed now:Dand make a flask then we're off.
WM is on. There's ironing to do later too.
DS1 is home again until tomorrow then he's back off to Worcester. Things are up in the air again with him and his partner and he's reluctant to talk about it but he knows there's always a bed here for him. He's between the 2 places at the moment.
I enjoyed new years day yesterday, much nicer than Christmas day as I was at home all day and relaxed.
better get a wriggle on I think.
have a nice day everyone xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Morning, Hugs and thoughts to everyone who needs them. It's quiet, dull and a bit damp around here. Just as well- I've got a killer sinus headache at the mo, but have attacked it will appropriate painkillers.DH and the garden tiger are still snoring away upstairs , and the table looks like a post office- I've got a load of wool to send off to people, but that won't change until Thrusday, when I've got time to shift it.
Today's targets will be
1) Blitz the kitchen (after to going to Mr T for some more DW salt, bananas, milk, etc)
2) Clear desk (so that it folds away easily)
3) Tackle the washing mountain - haven't done much for that last fortnight, and it's glowering at me!)
Have a good day!

Morning folks, nothing much happening here, just a quiet relaxing time. Looking after DGS today so will have a while drawing and painting with him - he was 2 couple of days before christmas and is so funny. Gammon cooked yesterday so that will be tea sorted with cauli cheese and roasties. The rest of the gammon I will slice and put in the freezer. Hope fully will get a bit knitting or sewing done today, and will head off to visit Dad later this morning.
Need to buy milk, but that is all that will be going into the basket -
Hope you all have a good day,Every days a School day!0 -

Morning all!
Been up since 730 (early for me) and have been jogging, had brekky, put the SC on (casserole pack soup) and had a shower. Need to go out to get some bits today (possibly more veg for soup as well) but the main need is a swimming costume.** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
