Not a successful day so far:o
Asked girls to text for an orange wed code when we were in the car on the way to cinema, dd2 had left her phone at home - I said lets nip back as we were only round at the shops but she said it was completely flat. Grrr...so got dd1 to text but not damn code arrived:mad:
So had to pay for all 3 of them and I havent gone:(
Cost me £22, I'm not happy! So I've been in asda and stocked up on crisps and breakfast biccies that were on offer. Got a top for £9, pens for girls for school and a card game for us.
I'm now bored, in the car. They should be out around 2 and nieces dad is meetin us to take her away. Was going to take my 2 for a burger but not after spending £22 at the cinema:mad:I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Oh what a shame. I hope the top was for you? Some recompense there.
Cinema is no longer a cheap past-time.It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
Morning:D
And that's half term finished:( I always feel sad at the end of a week off...feel I havent entertained the girls much, but in honesty, they like to just relax at home and not do much.
We did have my niece here, they went to the cinema, on Thurday we went shopping, yesterday dd2 went to her friend's for a sleepover and is off to the cinema today and dd1 saw a couple of friends too - so it's not really been boring.
I have spent most of my 'spending account' money this week - I have got a little left but need petrol - was going to hold out until Thursday (next tax credits go in), but don't like not having much in the car - I have a 10p off voucher at T's so will drive over there, pick up a few groceries and job done;)
I don't need much in the way of food this week - I had to nip out yesterday to a local shop for some fabric offcuts for dd1's art work, so I went into the small Sainsbugs - used £2.50 of nectar points so spent £16 and that did include a bottle of wine:p Just a few bits I forgot which I'll grab in T's - enough to last until Fri when I'll go shopping again.
I'm trying to go wheat free for a while and see how that affects my tum. It's been not bad, I've been taking charcoal tabs which have helped, but in the evenings I still have a rumbly, gassy tum - not nice:o And my friend is coming in 2 weeks to stay for a post birthday night out so I want it settled. Hoping that avoiding bread etc will help. Even though it'll be a complete wrench if it is, I want to find something that causes it so I can avoid it.
I must do a meal plan for next week - have a few meals thought out in my head so will get that done now.I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
I've been thinking of starting a new diary...once the big birthday comes:o I've just been feeling a bit down, not about the fact I'm going to be 40 because really, who cares - it's just a number?! I just feel a bit left out by my family, I haven't got many close friends at all (2 really) and I think my life is passing me by. I see other people turning 40 and they have big parties/nights out etc...nothing is happening here...family coming for lunch then going:o
Also, my diary has my old name in the title - but I can't see how to change it?!:D So, new diary to mark the new decade eh??I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Hi pixie, just caught up with your diary. Awwwww love try not to feel down, everybody's life & circumstances are different and you are bring up 2 girls on your own & from what I can see are making them your priority at the moment. At 40 you're still a baby and there is plenty of time for you to focus on yourself when the girls are a little older. If you want to change your social network you can, just need to get out there a bit more, take up a group that interests you and you'll soon meet new friends.
Maybe its just in the air today? I'm feeling a bit glum too. But there's plenty to be grateful for and some people's lives have much more challenges than mine, so something to be grateful for! Hope your weekend picks up xDF as at 30/12/16

We have just stayed at home too! We have had quite a lot of lie ins and the kids have watched films and done craft work etc while i have got on with decluttering the house. They like being at home too. Though we always feel guilty if we haven't done enough with them. Last weekend we have OH's son round and went to the cinema with him. DD1 had a birthday party to go to last saturday and then 2 sleepovers. Took them to the park with SIL on tuesday and then thursday spent the say at my Mums. Meal out last night for my Nan's 50th wedding anniversary
I hope you get a big fuss made of you for your 40th! I have about 3 close friends, lots of online friends and then some friends who are partners of OH's friends. But only the 3 i would really class as my close friends. 1 lives 45 minutes away and i see have once every couple of months, one live an hour away and we see her when she can get up here and then the other one lives in the next town and i see her every thursday for badminton! I am now feeling bad as i did say to her we would pop over in the hols and we havent
When is your birthday? Ill see if i can find a nice 40th animationOrange Fairy

I agree with what OF has said on the friends front. I used to hang around in a group of friends and we would get together a couple of times a week at each others house and go out together at the weekends. When I decided to pay my debts off/live within my means I had to change my lifestyle. Which meant I didn't go out partying all the time and those friendships dried up. I mean if I see them we still get on but its not the close knit it was before.
I have a best friend who I speak to every week and see each other sometimes a couple of times a week and sometimes not for weeks. I have several friends that I see every now and again, usually focusing around having a meal and some wine.
I do miss the closeness that I got with female best friends when we were younger, when we lived in each others pockets, told each other everything and laughed till our stomachs hurt but life changesDF as at 30/12/16

Thanks ladies...you say lovely things:D
OF - the big birthday is next Saturday:o My girls are out all day at a competition, from 6.45am until 9.45pm..not happy:( My family are coming for lunch out, but my sis and family going home in the afternoon...thought they might have wanted to stay:o So the girls and I going to go out on Sunday, lunch and maybe the cinema.
I have a best pal who lives in Cornwall...I hardly see her at all - last time was briefly, 2 years ago. We text every day though, we have a great text friendship! She is coming here the weekend after my birthday for a night out - she's very excited about it all, she loves birthdays;) I have another good friend around here, but with us working in the week we don't see each other much now.
I just know friends who've had big parties etc...but I couldn't - I'd have no-one to invite:( Originally we were going to Centerparcs this weekend - my sis and her family with us 3...but they then decided it was too expensive so we didn't book. So just lunch out next week.
I dread the day my girls leave home...I am not looking forward to that one bit, in fact it's terrifying. Can just see me being a total recluse;) Hmmmm...I am being a misery now aren't i?!I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Friends...hmmm...I have a few close friends but most are acquaintances or work colleagues. I don't meet up with my close friends as often as I'd like to. Thing is it's difficult working full time, I then have just 2 days to get most of my jobs done and entertain dd. most of the time I'd like to just sit on the sofa with a mug of tea and watch the TV
Some people don't need loads of friends, they don't need entertaining all the time. I'm quite happy in my own company or just doing stuff with dd.It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -

See, I do too, but I always think that makes me weird...to enjoy being at home and not going out:o I hear people at work saying what they get up to in the holidays, one friend does something most days and I just think am I strange to not meet people and socialise all the time? I just worry that as my girls get older there will be less for me to do with them, I'm needed less...and it's really sad.I really need to sort out a new signature!0
