  • Ooops, not posted for a while...I think everyone's lost interest here anyway:o My fault for having a boring diary:rotfl:

So - been plodding along, nothing exciting happening. I did some Xmas shopping with my sis last weekend - got a few bits and bobs for the girls stockings in the pound shops, cheap toiletries and sweets.

Today we were going to the cinema to see the new Twilight film...I booked the tickets, then dd1's friend asked if she wanted to go...so I've let the friend go with my 2 in my place and I'll wander round the shops which is fine by me - also means I get the money for one ticket, so saves me...and right now I am watching every penny:p

I have made a few more pounds on ebay this week - about £30-£40, must withdraw it from Paypal. I have a few bits I need to get on...listed a hoodie I bought for dd2 for Xmas in the summer sale (paid £20)...it has 41 watchers already and bids have started - I sold one the same style but different colour a few weeks ago and it went for £36...fingers crossed for this one too:T

I have next week's meal plan all done - I thought the food shopping yesterday wouldn't be too bad, but spent £68:eek: I guess that included 2 bottles of wine and toilet rolls at £3.50...but still, food is costing me loads. I need to rethink my grocery budget as I really am not sticking to £240 a month any more:o

Tomorrow we are off to my mum's - she has my 3 nieces this weekend while my sis is away...so we'll go see them and get a lovely big lunch - it'll be good to come home and not have to cook;)

I need to go and collect eldest's Xmas pressie from Arg0s - I've reserved a camera that's reduced from £260 to £130, pleased with that. I've been umming and ahhing for a few weeks over which one to buy her...then saw this one and it looks great, all good reviews too. She wants a decent one to use for her photography at school in media and as she's planning on doing it to A-level too hopefully she'll use it a lot:D

Family pressies are almost done - think I'll just go and check what's left to buy.

  • hey pixie! What is this load of self deprecating BS?????? Don't make me laugh young lady. I think everyone has their own "stuff" going on at the moment so a bit self absorbed :o (well I can only speak for myself!)

Wow I'm impressed with ur organisation re xmas - I have only got something for my ex-mil currently. But then I only have oh, ds, dd & mil/fil and oh's aunt and uncle (token) to buy for. Thinking about giving dd & ds the money. But suppose I should get to it soon!

Re shopping  I know what you mean! Our shopping bill went up drastically recently so I have had to take drastic action to reduce it. Cheaper cuts of meat, being more resourceful, maybe only 1 roast a month? And also cutting back on alcohol :eek::eek:

ooooo you've made me jelly re the cinema. Might go & see that on Monday as our cinema has reductions on Mondays for resident card holders. Wednesday's have been taken now as oh has started playing football again...

Anyway have a lovely day treacle x

  • And here's my meal plan:

Sat - chicken wraps/pittas (cajun chicken, onion, pepper, toms, lettuce) with hm wedges...mmmm
Sun - beef stew at mother's;)
Mon - roast chicken with everything
    Tues - Spag bol/chilli
Wed - Chicken pasta bake (with l/o chicken)
    Thurs - jacket pots + chicken/spag bol for dd1
Fri - CHicken stir fry and noodles, prawn crackers
Sat - girls at their dad's? Oven scampi+chips for me
Sun - Girls at dad's - might make a risotto for myslef

Ok...time to get in the shower and stop faffing about on here:p

Hi lovely lady...thank you for popping in:T
I was feeling like I was prattling away to myself...I don't exacxtly have the most sociable of diaries:o:o hehehe.

As for the food shopping - cut back on alcohol?! I do only get through one bottle of wine a week - half on Friday night, half on Saturday...so not too bad. That's my real treat that I look forward to...so I'd give up something else before that:o (I sound like a right wino). And the roast is quite a cheap meal for us - a £3.50 chicken will do that meal and another, usually a pasta one. The veg and stuffing not bad...value yorkies, or make my own... I know I buy too much coke, crisps etc....I could stop drinking cans of the stuff myself during the week, damn;)

Hopefully I'll get more bits and bobs for the girls Xmas stuff today - mostly they want clothes, but at 14 and 12 I still want them to have fun things:rotfl:

Hey Pixie! I really enjoy your diary and I like reading how good you are with money. i find it very inspirational. So don't say it's boring because it isn't!!!

I know what you mean though, I don't think mine is very sociable but at the moment I am finding it very good therapy to get things out of my head and down in print.

You've done really well with your xmas shopping. I've only got one pressie! I'm not going to start in earnest until I get paid next Friday.

My food shopping has gone up too. I spent £55 yesterday in total  That's shocking when there's just the 2 of us! At least it's a sign my appetite is coming back...

I've been spending about £70 a week and there are just 3 of us...so I'm just as bad:o I do have cupboards that are pretty full...as is the freezer so i shall make more of an effort to use up stuff before buying more (which I am very guilty of;)). Girls are not very adventurous - dd1 in particular is a fussy pest - and they like a proper meal...couldn't get away with a 'something easy on toast night'...so I have to do proper meaty meals:p

  • So, an mse afternoon for me - I dropped the girls in town for the cinema, drove into the multi storey, got to the very top and thought I can't be bothered and drove out:rotfl: I stopped at T's and bought girls some bags of chocolate for tonight (£1 each) and a treat for my lunch - a chicken salad sarnie, I know how to treat myself:T I've now just had a browse on the diaries (subscribed to some lovely ones I'd missed before) and now I need to go tidy up and get the house lovely and tidy. Then I will be able to relax and enjoy my saturday night wine and tv-fest with my girlies:D

Off to tidy up...I feel so much better when the place is neat:D

  • Well I am ashamed to say that my organised-ness went by the wayside yesterday as I forgot to get chicken out of the freezer for dinner...so I ordered Domin0s...:o:o:o Pizzas were any size for £9.99 (still ridiculous for a pizza:o)...so ordered 2..and found a £10 off £30 spend code...so I added wedges and garlic bread to make it £31 and the £10 came off.

Then dd2 rings to say she wants to stay at a friends...so just dd1 and I with the feast:eek: I did enjoy not cooking and washing up though and didn't spend anything in town yesterday as I expected. But still....£20 on pizza, I'm embarrassed, but at least I've admitted it;)

So, dd2 due home soon and we'll get off to my mum's. I have a top I bought dd1 for Xmas to return (that I then showed her online and she didnt like, darn) and she needs to try on some jeans she wants for Xmas, so I get the right size. I'll get some petrol there as it's cheaper than around here - have a 5p off at T's so will use that.

So, no cooking again tonight - lovely. Must go and get dressed. Have a good day:D
