Hooray...Kel and DNMS have arrived in the room:beer: Medals all round...you deserve it for sticking with me:D

Look at me up early:rotfl: Well, this is early by my holiday body clock...but it's back to school tomorrow and I'll never sleep tonight and get up at 7 tomorrow if I stay in bed this morning.

DNMS - my essay...ahem, I *will* start today:o Can't promise it'll be ready for Wednesday but I'm behind as it is, another week won't upset my tutor! Am feeling better than I did at the start of the hols - typical, I was just rubbish then so didn't get any work done then as planned.

Must think about what needs doing today:D

Keep nagging maman, I need it:)
Anyway, today's been a bit of a non starter really. I've just felt bleurgh this afternoon with zero energy and bit nauseous....so I have to admit the work didn't get done:( I am very disappointed with myself....yet again. But, I do have tomorrow to get going, girls at school so will be peaceful, just hope I feel perkier:o

Dinner is on, girls are out at a club. The smell of dinner's making me feel yuk too - it's spag bol and really has no appeal for me tonight, I'll pas on it I think. Am finding it hard to keep my eyes open, really frustrating feeling rubbish when I have things to do:(

On the good side though, I checked banking and all looks fine. Rent is outat the end of the week which will leave £200 in the bills account. My spending account has £135 in...and tax credits will go in on Thurs so another £100 added to that account. What I'll do is transfer whatever's left from this week (ie the £135) into savings. My TCs go in each week and I use £100 to go in spending account, £55 to grocery account. I think I'm doing well to have £135 in there leftover from the last 2 weeks;)

I do owe the girls club £57 for a competition entry they're doing in Feb and the subs on top of that which will probably be about another £50. My clubs account has £112 in it so that's all accounted for. Must start refilling that account then.

I listed a book on ebay quickly this morning - a reasonably new cookbook (Jamie oliver) that I didn't like, never used so may as well sell it.

I did my meal plan for 2 weeks last night and was seriously struggling to find meals we all like....going to check out the OS board for ideas, we eat the same meals week in week out - I need more ideas:D

Anyway, off to check on dinner - hope all had a good day:)

Hope you feel a bit perkier tomorrow milly.

Your finances sound very organised and healthy milly, especially for the time of year.

Funnily enough I was thinking that we have too many meals the same. Normally I do a weekly meal plan and then throw it away and start again each Friday. I've decided to keep a record to stop too many repeats. One idea I thought of was to look at restaurant menus (all sorts from pub grub to nice stuff) to refresh my ideas of what we like. Especially as lots of restaurant meals are using cheap ingredients these days to keep costs down (like sausage and mash or liver and bacon). For example, my OH often orders gammon but I rarely do it at home. Perhaps your girls would like to do something similar?

Good luck with the assignment today, Milly :)

Hope you feel a bit brighter today. Even if you just write a paragraph or looked over everything again I bet you'll feel better that you've started. And if you can't get the beginning try starting to write from part way through and do the beginning last ;) Sometimes works for me.

Maman - great idea about the meal plans! Love it :T

I love the meal plan idea too....thanks maman:D

Girls have gone to school, I must admit I had a doze on the sofa once they'd gone but am showered and dressed now. Face is on, so will get cracking. I seem to be waking up every 2 hours during the night - almost to the exact minute - half 12 then half 2, half 4...then the alarm went at 7. So that's probably why I feel sluggish and not my best during the day.

I've just dug out some ironing to get on with - much more than I thought so going to do that now with another coffee. It'll warm me up, then I'll do some college work...promise;)

    Shiny new diary......*subscribes*

Maybe we could list our meal plans here and bounce a few ideas off each other? I for one, know that I get stuck in a 'food rut' and end up repeating the same weekly menu for weeks on end.

    I'll start:-

    Monday - Spaghetti Bolognese
Tuesday - Salmon Pasta with brocolli and courgettes
Wednesday - Chicken nuggets, chips and sweetcorn (for quickness)
Thursday - At Mums so something really nice :D
Friday - HM Thai Green Curry
    Saturday - Stir fry
    Sunday - Roast or pie

Hope you're feeling better now and have made a start on your essay.:)

Hi again poles - how are you and any updates on WLM?;)

Love the idea about sharing meal plans - already I've spotted the thai green curry on yours - does your dd enjoy it and how do you make it? I used to make one (from a WW recipe) a few years ago when I was married as ex and I would eat it, but I didn't think my 2 would fancy it so haven't made it in years...being nearly 4 yrs since we split up, it's a while:rotfl:

Ok, here's my highly exciting plan:

Last night was Spag bol - though I felt ill so had egg on toast;)

Tues - chow mein and noodles (just a sachet of Blue Dragon sauce, with onion, carrot and chicken, it's one of girls' favourites)

Wed - salmon steaks and wedges for dd2 and I, leftover spag bol for eldest (she wont eat fish)

Thurs - jacket pots with Birds eye crispy or southern fried chicken steaks and spag hoops/beans (dds cant even agree on hoops or beans:D)

Fri - chicken korma and naan

Sat - Chicken (cooked in cajun spice) with pepper, onion and in wraps or pitta (whatver is in freezer)

    Sun - roast chicken

Mon - chicken pasta bake - made with leftover chicken from sun, bit of bacon, onions, mushrooms and cream

Tues - Sausage, egg and chips (dd1 will moan, I can feel it already)

Wed - meatballs and pasta with hm tom sauce

Thurs - jacket pots again (this is our thurs meal!!)

Fri - girls going to their dad's, not sure if they need to eat first so haven't planned anything yet

Ok, there we go - not very inspiring. DD2 eats most things, dd1 a bit fussier. Neither eat a whole load of veg, so your salmon pasta with broc and courgettes would be lovely for me, but they'd pick out the greenery:rotfl:
Later on I think I'm going to look through some cookbooks - dd2 enjoys doing this.

Have started some reading for my essay and dug out my notes from college sessions so am going to get back to it, just fancied a 5min break:cool:

Well done milly on starting your background reading:)

I do my plan from Friday (my preferred shopping day) to Thursday and this week's been a bit different because of New Year:

Friday(NYE): duck, dauphinois potatoes, cauliflower and carrots/peas/onion dish
Saturday: Lamb dhansak with pilau rice and chips
    Sunday: ate out
Monday: HM cold ham, bubble&squeak, peas and beetroot
Tuesday: smoked haddock, wedges and green beans
Wednesday: sausage casserole (it's like the Tana Ramsay one with cabbage & leeks)
    Thursday:chicken (thighs) casserole with butterbeans

I think it's a great idea to get your DDs involved milly. Perhaps they'll get involved with the cooking too;) Our sausage casserole is quite an adult meal these days but when my girls were young we used to have the more traditional one with sausage, baked beans, bacon, onions, tinned tomatoes served on pasta. That went down well.
