Ok, quick update with what I've done so far. Downstairs is looking clean and tidy (until the girls reappear tomorrow) - have dusted, scrubbed window frames in lounge, tidied shelves, hoovered, cleaned kitchen/diner floor and put the bedding on the line and clothes on the airer in the sun. Sorted a box of books that had been on the landing for a while, since being moved out of girls closet. 2 bags for the attic (can't bear to get rid of all girls Ladybird books:o) and a few in a bag in the shed for jumble. I emptied the :overy overflowing magazine rack thing...have a huge pile of TES mags and papers to flich through and cut out any articles for Uni that may be useful.
This afternoon I need to make a start on some Uni work - need to think of an area of the curriculum to study in my workplace for one assignment and another to make a start writing. I just need inspiration for the first one;) The ironing is watching me...have plonked it on the back of the sofa so I wont forget it....as if I could:D Might do that tomorrow while watching 'Something for the Weekend'. I'm going to town tomorrow afternoon, have a few bits to take back for refunds and a couple of things on offer in Superdrug I want to get.
I've reserved a new printer in Argos....a wireless all in one for £50, with 2 sets of ink, good reviews. The one I have is enormous and it now has no home as I took away the desk...so it now sits on a dining chair pushed under the table...not a long term place for it!!! When we need it, we have to pull it out, bring it in the lounge, plug in and connect to laptop - so thought a wireless one could live upstairs in my room, out of the way and save all the fuss when someone needs work printing. Might go pick that up later on.
Ok, kitchen floor must be dry by now - I can go make lunch:pI really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Morning...up reasonably early (for me, anyway);). I'm off into town later, am picking up dd2 from ex to take her to town, she wanted to come too which is noce, bit of company. I have a couple of things to retrun for refunds.
I picked up the printer yesterday and it's great:D Nice and neat, sitting on a shelf in my room, out of the way. So, easy to print things now - with the other one it really was a pain.
Also, yesterday I sorted out recycling girls old phones - found the best sites for each and will send them off - one going for £33 and the other £31. Usually I ebay old phones, but these aren't perfect - both have a few scratches...so thought that even if they go for a little more than what I'm getting, by the time I've deducted ebay fees, I may as well just use the recycling.
Today I need to quite a bit - uni work, ironing, bedding back on girls beds, clean goldfish out, nip to town....
So, just putting my face on, will do a bit of ironing before I go out at 11.I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Yipeee, my £40 Onepoll payment just arrived in my Paypal account, so has been transferred to the bank account - fab:j
Not at college today - I have another blood test soon and dd2's parents evening starting at 3.40, so staying at home to get on with an assignment.
Not much else to report - 2 days to go til a week off:beer: I did spend some money online last night on the Animal outlet part of their site - got a bag for life for £1.50, cami top reduced to £7 and lovely turquooise handbag for the summer reduced for £30-odd to £10.
My darn washing machine is driving me mad - it's leaving brown marks on clothes, they do wash out, but I have to rewash...one of dd1's expensive hoodies needed 3 washes, the third in a pillowcase to rescue it:o I have done 2 empty loads on a hot 95deg wash with bicarb in...but it only seems to have made it worse - loosened the carp in the machine possibly? It's not my machine - came with the rented house so can ring the agency if I cant sort it. I do have my wahsing machine from when we lived in our own house, its living in ex-sils garage...might need it! (Unless ex has sold it;))
Anyway, better go get dressed:DI really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Meant to add - £4-odd recieved in my bank from Quidco yesterday and have just seen another £17 has been received by them today so will get that at the end of the month. I'm waiting for £50 from my home insurance - it's been validated but not recieved...am being patient:D
We loved the quesadillas on Monday - I did them so they looked like a calzone, foldy over pizza thing - 1 wrap each half filled with chicken, pepper, onion, salsa and cheese...folded top over and then flipped it - home made paprika wedges too - we were all very full! Will definitely make them again.
I ordered a student cook book from Amazon, was only £4 and it's great - full of simple meals that the girls will love - dd2 fancies making some of them so will have a go next week, in half term. Very pleased with the book:T
Must get on with some work - an email just appeared from tutor so will check that out:)I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Have you tried doing a wash with soda crystals? That sometimes helps. Or white vinegar in the drum and the drawers? Can wash your towels if you don't want to waste the water and electricity. They won't end up smelling vinegary. A good job you can get it sorted easily if necessary. I hate being without my washing machine - it mucks up my entire routine. The TV I could live without for 2 weeks if I had to but not the washing machine.....It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0

Thanks for the ideas - I have white vinegar so will try that tonight. I did re-wash a few bits and they all came out fine, thank goodness. Not good when eldest's expensive A+F hoodie comes out with brown marks on:eek:
Just back from youngest's parent's evening, saw teachers for 5 of her subjects...she's a clever girly and I'm very happy with her. She's now asleep on the sofa:rotfl:
So, I didn't get any work done...grrrr:mad: I spent a while sorting through college stuff, filing away last year's stuff and chucking a load of useless stuff. The dining table where I work at is clear and the books I am currently using are here...and no more rubbish. I have a tutorial on Friday after work...get me on track with work todo over half term.
Bolognese sauce is cooking...eldest has that then I chuck in some chilli powder and kidney beans and it's chilli for dd2 and I...I find spag bol boring, much prefer chilli:o My sis, bro in law and their 3 are coming for Sat night so have bought curries and pizza, all organised. My niece is staying on Sunday night then we're off shopping to meet my sis on monday. Half term's looking busy for the girls - lovely;)I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
 I hope you get things sorted with your washing machine, pixie
Oops. I'm considering replacing mine with a dishwasher and shipping my washing out to a pick up/drop off service - £10 for 2 loads - cheaper than the launderette anyway... Hmm, decisions decisions...

I had similar problems with my washing machine and I hate to tell you it did pack up eventually. It was something to do with the rinse cycle if I remember correctly. Is your landlord supposed to supply a washing machine? If so I should tell him about it or if not see if your old one's still around.
Well done on sorting all the paperwork. I find it much easier to work when I'm organised. I think it must be something to do with encouraging a tidy mind. Good luck with the tutorial and to getting some work done next week. You seem to be on a bit of a roll with your assignments, keep it up!0 -
Wooooo, my bursary payment of £420 went in yesterday and the Onepoll money arrived from Paypal...duly transferred out of current account.
Had a nice cuppa with friends at a colleagues house this morning...was back a while ago and have whizzed round tidying and hoovering ready for my sis, bro in law and their girls to arrive. DD's made a banana loaf and will do fairy cakes with the 2 littley cousins. So, an evening with grub and wine, girls will probably get the wii out...will be lovely:D
I've had to fiddle around with next week's meal plan as the girls aren't here Monday night now, staying with my niece and her dad and on Wed, when I had roast planned, dd2 has her friend here and I'll probably take them to the cinema and get Mcd's for food. So Mon night is please-myself night, Tues is the roast and Wed is Mcds. Thurs still wraps...using leftover chicken from Tues and Fri is my bday so Mum and Dad taking us out for a meal...fab:beer:
I saw my tutor yesterday...have 2 assignments to do over the hols, plan another and fill in my app form to join the third year for a full degree...hmmm, am still undecided and not sure about money - but can always decide not to. Tutor said better to apply now and change mymind than the other way round when it'll be too late to apply.
Ok, going to get the loaf out of the oven and go sit read my book for half an hour before they arrive and all peace goes:rotfl:I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Arghh I don't even want to own up to my latest buy....cue embarrassed face....an iphone:o:o Here's my attempt at justifying...£106 cashback covers the £69 cost of the phone...yes my monthly bill more, but I just sooo wanted one. Going to sell both of the girls' ipods and use that money to buy a new ipod touch so one has that and the other gets my ipod...hopefully should still have some leftover money from the sales of the ipods...looking on ebay they go for about £90-100 each. I know I've increased my monthly contract but hey, I will love it...and it's my birthday treat to myslef:o (I feel really bad though that I've ordered it, but am very excited too, child I am;))
Ok, what else? Had a good shopping day out - girls got some new bits, some paid for by me (the boring bits) and the extras they buy themselves. I bought a few spring tops and pair of work trousers, doubt I'll like all 3 tops once I've tried them. I'm home now, for a lovely quiet night as girls have gone to my niece's dads with her and her sis...he must be mad:D He's taking them swimming tomorrow then home.
Tomorrow with be an NSD, am staying home to do college work. On Wed I'm dropping dd2 and her friend at the cinema (2 for 1) - I'll go sit in Asda with a coffee then get a few bits of shopping. So no big spends. Thurs is a day at home too, must have a cheap week now.
I have another Tesco till spit - £6 off a £40 spend so will go there for my next biggish shop - need to decide when I should go - might be Sat morn. I have enough food for this week...just need some bread, milk and fruit/veg bits.
Time to go and rest my very weary legs:DI really need to sort out a new signature!0
