Surely you mean 5ml and 15ml as spoons are measures of volume not weight. To calculate the weight from a spoon measurement you'd need to know the density (ie how much it weights for a certain volume) of it. For water then 5ml (a teaspoon)=5g but for a powder the density is likely to be much lower so a 5ml teaspoon ful would be likely to weigh less than 5g.

    Sorry...spot the geeky chemist lol!!!

If my memory serves me right - when baking and measuring using spoons the calculation was 2 tsp = 1 dsp. 3tsp = 1 tblsp.

    My memory is questioning this - 2tsp = 1dsp - 4tsp = 1tblsp ?
An Old Fashion Cooking Conversion Table

    1 pinch = 1 dash = Less than 1/8 teaspoon
    1 dash (liquid) = a few drops
    1 tablespoon = 3 teaspoons = 1/2 ounce
    3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon = 1/2 ounce
    4 tablespoons = 1/4 cup = 2 ounces
    8 tablespoons = 1/2 cup = 4 ounces
    16 tablespoons = 1 cup = 8 ounces
    1 cup = 8 ounces = 1/2 pound
    1/3 cup = 5 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon
    16 ounces = 1 pint = 1 pound
    16 cups = 8 pints = 4 quarts = 1 gallon
    8 quarts (dry) = 1 peck = 1/4 bushel
    4 peck (dry) = 1 bushel
    1 kilogram = approximately 2 pounds
    1 liter = approximately 4 cups or 1 quart

    My friends consultant sent her this today;
Rome wasn’t built in a day. Everest wasn’t conquered in an hour, and the journey to target isn’t going to happen overnight. Food Optimising is a lifestyle choice, not a quick fix.
You may be on the motorway, the scenic route or even parked in a lay-by right now, but you WILL finish this journey IF you keep believing in yourself. I believe in you. Be the change in your life.

    How lovely!

Not too bad a day today and got away from work early thanks to my lovely boss!
B; bacon, egg, mushrooms & tomato
L; jacket potato & baked beans, cherries, raspberries & blueberries
D; HM beef meatballs with spaghetti (inc mushrooms, onions, tomato's)
I was a bit naughty and halved my HEa so I've had a couple of LC extra light & will have a cuppa before bed with my ickle milk. HEb will be a Hi-Fi or Fibre Plus bar with cuppa :)
Syns will be a glass or two of wine & maybe a bit of choccie depending on how much wine I have!

Dizzy - cheese isn't a HEb at all on EE - have a fab time in Bruges!

Hopefully I will be very very good this weekend - but we'll see ;)

I'm back on the wagon & had first WI last night:T

I'm struggling a bit for snacks (that don't involve fruit or mullers).

    Anyone have any ideas?

    The consultant suggested mug shots.....
  • Evening all

I went to an event this morning and managed to leave the cakes and biscuits alone :) but then when I got back to the office my colleague's wife had made us all rock cakes :( they are so delicious. I did turn it down but my evil colleague left one on my desk and somehow it ended up in my tummy :o. However the SW book says they are approx 9syns so not too bad! Not had any other syns today so I'm ok with that now.

    Green day:

B - oats (HEB), FF yog
L - HM SF celery soup
D - 2 eggs fried in frylight, HM WM bread (HEB), LF marg (0.5syns)
Snacks - rock cake (9syns), pear, clementine, cheese (HEA), LF creme fraiche (1.5syns), mango
Drinks - coffee (sk milk for HEA), water, NAS squash
Exercise - wore toning boots all day

    Total syns = 11

  • ps - I will be MIA til Sunday night as I'm going to Birmingham to meet up with some of the lovely people from the Old Style board. I'll have a big SW fry up for breakfast, I'm taking a bag of fruit with me on the train to snack on (3hour journey), hopefully have a jacket spud for lunch. I'm meeting another friend in the evening and we are going for dinner too, but hoping for an italian where I can have pasta with tomato sauce. Then repeat on Sunday!!

I really don't want to blow it this weekend.

    Burrito - 37 syns
    Chix Chimichanga - 37.5
    Chix Quesidillas - 33
Chilli 8.5 on EE or Green/10 on red
    Enchilada - beef - 17, chicken - 22, vegetable - 14
    Fajita - beef - 26, chicken - 25, vegetable - 36
Veg chilli - 3.5 on EE or green/12.5 on red.

 scary syns!!! It's hard to see how a quesidilla or buritto with a veggie filling and no cheese would be that bad but then there is the wheat and Oil and SW know their stuff - same with pizza express - I've just had to give up eating there!

I really don't fancy veg bean chilli and rice but might have to have that I guess as want to lose this week, will have a look at the menu in a bit see if there are other ideas on there. Wonder how many syns are in chick pea ratatouille as I could have that with rice. Good job I'm going for lunch as the main meals in the evening are twice the size:rotfl:

Today is a day where I was not organised - I'd planned to have soup at work as the chef is SW target member so makes the soup SW style but today they had milk in it so it was not vegan. Luckily I had a pasta mug shot style bachelors sachet in my bag and some fruit, then I forgot a spoon for my mid afternoon snack a yoghurt and the site I was at the cafe was shut so not a spoon in the place!

Hate not having enough food in the day and feeling hungry, have had SW chips/veg bacon/toms/peas/mushrooms and onions tonight so feel better now!

Well I am struggling. I have to admit it.

the problem i am having is that I am starving in the mornings - I simply dont have time and can't really afford to eat a big 'fry up' or omelette every morning and the days I have cereal I am still ravenous and nothing else seems suitable to eat before lunchtime. I can manage lunch and dinner - pasta, rice, meat etc all lovely. But I am finding myself really struggling with the mornings and it's making me eat junk and go off plan cos fruit just doesn't do the trick, i can't see what else i can do when i have already had my heA abd B for the cereal :(

there is no law (SW or UK law!) that says you have to eat cereal or bread at breakfast - eat what you want. You can have leftovers from the night before if you want. Another idea is to hardboil a few eggs, you can grab a couple as you leave if you eat cereal and remain hungry. Some things I have for breakfast (mind, I make sure I have time for breakfast as I love it) are:

*bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms in the GF grill
*half the allowance of Allbran plus yoghurt and some chopped fruit (all bran is very filling - have an Alpen light later for the other half HEB)
*corn on the cob (3 mins in microwave)
*microwave omelette (fill it with precooked diced potato and onion from the night before, delicious)
*bubble & squeak using leftover vegetables mashed together and squished onto the GF grill. Takes about 10 mins to cook but that's when you are showering & getting makeup on.

that's a few ideas, eat what you want, we are supposed to enjoy our food otherwise there's no point eating it imo.:D
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

    thank you Slimming World!
