I resent using my HEA and HEB up by 8am!Skint_Catt wrote: »BettyB - why can't you afford an omlette in the morning? 49p for a microwave omlette maker (the BEST thing I've ever bought) - and one or two eggs per day (depending on if you're putting a filling in - leftover veg etc) Takes me less than 5 mins to do breakfast int he morning - usually while I put my make up on
I can make omelettes in a frying pan for breakfast quite quickly if i have time, but I try not to eat eggs every day as they can be quite pricy especially if i have omelette with 2 eggs that'd be 10 eggs a week, let alone more for weekends! (and if I eat them all during the week there aren't any left for OH at the weekend!)
Plus, i would just get sick of them if i had them every morning.
The other problem i have is that HEBs and HEAs go nicely togather like cheese on toast, ryvita and laughing cow, cereal with milk, etc
It makes it hard to save them for meals/recipes later on in the day, especially if you're doing EE.Betty, have you heard of (or tried) the breakfast rice recipe? I find it really filling and normally nothing other than a big cooked brekkie fills me in a morning!
Basically you cook pudding rice in water until all the water has been absorbed then you mix in some fruit and a yogurt. The original recipe is to eat it warm straight after cooking it but I have it cold for 2 reasons......firstly I find warm yogurt a bit yukky! and secondly, I don't have time to cook it in the morning.
that sonds interesting, I might try it. I'm not keen on yoghurt (unless is flavoured - would flavoured yog work here??) I only really use plain /natural yog for cooking but I could try to find one that would work.
I often struggle cos i am not one of those ppl who can have yoghurt and fruit for breakfast, it will not wake me up or give me any enegery for the day. I like an apple or something for elevenses but I often eat all the fruit quickly in the first half of the week and then have none until the next trip to the shops, which means at the end of the week there is none left, making EE even harder!Betty B: The Eternal Procrastinator....
Why Put Off Until Tomorrow What You Can Do Today? :A0 -

hi ,its day 3 for me today and I took the plunge and joined up for online membership :j.
I want to run something by you guys please .
I have in the kitchen some whey protein powder that I got from tescos a while ago (it was next to the atkins bars) .
This stuff seems too good to be true , I have used it for ages now to make milkshakes (with water) to add to cheese cakes for flavour, to add to yogurts to make a - angel delight type of dessert.
Now heres the good part (If my calculations are correct)
It works out as under 1 syn per tablespoon (5g).
It tastes lovely , and comes in many different flavours ...
chocolate, strawberry,banana and vanilla.
can someone pls tell me if my calculations are correct pls ,
it comes in a 400g tub.
per 100g
kcals = 362
carbs = trace
protein= 87g
fat = trace
I believe this works out at less than 1 syn per table spoon:).
One serving is 30g according to the Bio Synergy website, which works out as 5 1/2 syns if I've used the online Syns calculator properly. Obviously depends how much you use per serving.
I use protein powder when I'm bulking (muscle building term sorry) and need it to get fast protein on the go, but it's much more healthy to take in clean, natural protein. I certainly wouldn't use it as a flavouring unless I specifically needed to take the protein in, but that's just personal opinion.Whatever doesn't kill me, can only make me stronger.

BettyB - What about the SW all day brekkie quiche?
Mix up 3 eggs & 300g ff cottage cheese - then add bacon, mushrooms, chopped up quorn saus, tomatoes, beans, onions etc.etc. then bake until 'set' (about 30mins ish!)
Or what about magic couscous? I make mine by cooking couscous as packet - adding ff fromage frais & bit of sweetner & frozen cherries (from sainsburys normally 3 for £5) when the frozen cherries start to defrost they let out juices and when mixed with ff from frais is gorgeous!
The magic rice is also good - i use leftover rices!
I eat all the above cold in the morning (or room temp) and i find them filling! (it takes alot to fill me up!) Easy to do whilst cooking dinner at night! I always leave my heb for nice things like fibre plus bars & alpen light (the choc & fudge ones!)
Today is EE
B - ff fromage frais, frozen cherries
S - Banana
L - Pasta, passata, onions, mushrooms, cannelini beans
S - Apple & Muller light
D - Chilli made with Extra lean beef mince, kidney beans, chopped toms, passata, baked beans, green beans, carrots, onions served with rice
S - Fibre plus bar (heb) & some chocolate?
Milk in coffees (hea)
Well done everyone, keep up the good work!0 -
Thanks, so it is less than 1 syn per tablespoon which is fab
.
I use it to flavour things quite often, its hardly any protein for one table spoon , cos it works out about 4g of protein ,which is like 3 tomatos.
Found out this morning my butcher does lots of slimming world foods,
picked up chicken burgers that are lovely and thick & sausages
which makes life alot easier for me ,lol.Kindness costs nothing0 -
A tablespoon is 15g not 5g, that's a teaspoon. So it's just under 1 syn per teaspoon.

Hiya peeps :hello:
Well I tried to keep a tally of our losers but got hopelessly lost as there were so many of you, so I'll just say a generic WELL DONE to you all!! :j
Queen wotsitscanbrans are usually cheaper in class, think they were £1.20 last time I got some, whereas they're £1.35 in H&B normally so I only buy them there when there's the 'buy one, get one half price' offer on, which is actually quite often!!
Magnolia, there was also a low-carb cauliflower pizza that I tried once. It was a faff to make but actually really nice, I'll have to see if I've still got the recipe & whether it's SW friendly
Skint, hope the wound is ok today _pale_
Lisa, glad you got rid of the settee (never used ebay but what I've heard from you & others puts me right off!!)
Bettyb, large free-range eggs are 99p for 6 in Aldi if that helps?? You can buy other non-free range quite cheaply there too, boxes of 15 I think?? Scrambled eggs with chopped mushroom (protein so keeps you fuller for longer) done in the microwave is quick & easy & only uses a splash of milk (I sooooooo know where you're coming from with not wanting to use your HEA/HEB when doing EE - that's why I mostly do green these days!!)
daisy, enjoy your SW-friendly fish & chips, hope the couscous idea works. Hubby is bringing in fish suppers for everyone tonight ('cept me) I'm hoping I won't be able to smell them though because I've still got a blocked nose (or should that be blocked doze
) because of this damned cold!!
Whoops, seem to have written an essay thereToday is a green day, just for a change...
B - 2 chocolate weetabix (HEB + 2), banana, rasps, milk (half HEA)
L - baked spud, beans & 21g lighter cheese (half HEA)
D - 2 quorn sausies with pasta & HM sauce & pitta (HEB)
Tis the weekend so wine, wine, wine tonight :j Actually probably only 1 glass for 6 syns :A
Have a great SW day everyone :wave:0 -

Over on minimims there are some who do the kfc recipe but use cous cous instead of the HEB bread allowance.....they say it comes out fab.....Ive not tried it yet-but ive got a bag of cous cous at the ready
cant see how its really a misuse of food 'as such' not like baking a cake from it, I dont think you would use very much of the stuff to coat some fish or chicken;)0 -
that sonds interesting, I might try it. I'm not keen on yoghurt (unless is flavoured - would flavoured yog work here??) I only really use plain /natural yog for cooking but I could try to find one that would work.
The breakfast rice Is absolutely lovely with muller choc sprinkle flavourand ALL the weight watchers ones
(can you tell ive experimented a bit
) It really is filling too ! x
Hope you feel better soon SWEET S at least with a blocked nose (or blocked doze) you wont be able to smell your own botty burps :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: x x x0 -
hello everyone...tis quiet in here today
I don't like EE for exactly that reason being discussed, I like my Healthy Extras, sometimes I don't use all my A's but I like to have them and (usually) spread them out through the day.
Millet is another grain which is good for breakfast/yogurt combo, I cook a big batch of it and freeze it and then just take it out the night before and mix with yog/fruit in the morning and I'm good to go
Food so far:
breakfast: 28g bran flakes (HeB), ff fromage frais, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, dash of milk in coffee (1)
Snack: Banana
Lunch: 4 x quorn bacon rashers (2), 3 x slices wholemeal bread from 400g loaf (HeB + 3), 3 extra light laughing cow (1/2 HeA), small tin spag hoops, 2 satsumas, apple
Dinner: Pasta with 57g low fat philly (HeA) with broccoli, garlic and onion, think I'll have some salad on the side as there isn't much veg going on today.
Options mint madness (2) and prob some more fruit along the way!
So that will be 2 HeB and 1.5 HeA and 8 syns, or 7 if I count the dash of milk as the rest of my HeA
Tempted to have a pack of french fries...I can afford the syns but I'll see how I get on.*wonders when they will make dressing gowns acceptable day wear?*No new toiletries challenge - use up the stash first!NSD Jan 2/150
