    the problem i am having is that I am starving in the mornings - I simply dont have time and can't really afford to eat a big 'fry up' or omelette every morning and the days I have cereal I am still ravenous and nothing else seems suitable to eat before lunchtime. I can manage lunch and dinner - pasta, rice, meat etc all lovely. But I am finding myself really struggling with the mornings and it's making me eat junk and go off plan cos fruit just doesn't do the trick, i can't see what else i can do when i have already had my heA abd B for the cereal :(
    I have been lurking for a while, reading for inspiration but too busy to post. Day off today because my son is ill, so a little internet while he sleeps beside me on the sofa!
    BettyB, I find breakfasts the most difficult too. As I type I have potato cakes, onion and quorn sausages baking in the oven and I know that will do me fine, but on a normal morning I can't do a breakfast like that. I resent using my HEA and HEB up by 8am! I like to use them on "proper" food in the evening, that is the way I stay on track.
    Need to come up with some ideas!

    BettyB - why can't you afford an omlette in the morning? 49p for a microwave omlette maker (the BEST thing I've ever bought) - and one or two eggs per day (depending on if you're putting a filling in - leftover veg etc) Takes me less than 5 mins to do breakfast int he morning - usually while I put my make up on :D

    Well changed my fruit this week - was apples, banana's & clementines, now cherries, raspeberry's & blueberries. Will also have more pasta this week as hubby away.

    Can anyone find White Nimble ANYWHERE? :(

    Mexican;
    Burrito - 37 syns
    Chix Chimichanga - 37.5
    Chix Quesidillas - 33
    Chilli 8.5 on EE or Green/10 on red
    Enchilada - beef - 17, chicken - 22, vegetable - 14
    Fajita - beef - 26, chicken - 25, vegetable - 36
    Veg chilli - 3.5 on EE or green/12.5 on red.

    Good idea. I have those poachpod things from Lakeland, could whisk eggs and cook them in there in the microwave.... will get thinking.

    Well I weighed in (at home of course!) last night and have lost 3lbs this week! However I then promptly spent all night being sick because I ate bread yesterday! I haven't had bread in any form for about 2 weeks (since I got back on the SW wagon) and it seems that my body has just rejected it. Well at least I know the weight loss is genuine and not because I've been ill!

    Ruby, I'd be really concerned about being sick the day after eating bread. I know we're not supposed to give medical advice so my advice would be to check it with your doctor. My ex would get the same if he accidently ate something with gluten in and he was a coaliac. Might just be that your body has a strong reaction to things it doesn't like though.....I get bad cramps and bloating if I eat bread but not sickness.

    Well done to all losers.

    You'll be pleased to hear that the settee has gone....the courier finally turned up at 9.30pm!!! Feeling much less stressed today!

    Going EE today I think:

    Brekkie - porridge (HEA&B) no superfree as don't see the point of eating extra cals just to say have had some super free!!! Whole day will be more than a third superfree anyway!
    Lunch - savoury rice with toms, cuc, onions, jalapenos (this is deeeeelish, you should try it! Also nice with plain rice and added tuna, sweetcorn and balsamic vinegar), jelly (0.5), melon and grapes
    Tea - corned beef stew (syns for corned beef and gravy, need to calculate), loads of veggies in the stew.
    Snacks fruit if I need it.

    Morning all! Congrats to all who lost last night:T. I had WI last night and lost 1/2 lb. Not too excited, but not disappointed either. About fair for how good (or otherwise) I've been this week. I am having an alcohol free week this week (cos I'm going to be manic at work)

    Todays food is:
    B - weetabix + skimmed milk (HEA + HEB)
    S - mullerlight
    L - pasta and mushroom sauce
    S - fruit
    D - stuffed pepper

    Over the weekend I have to work :(, but my general food plan involves special fried rice and cajun chicken with rice and veg.

    Well I am struggling. I have to admit it.

    Betty, have you heard of (or tried) the breakfast rice recipe? I find it really filling and normally nothing other than a big cooked brekkie fills me in a morning!

    Basically you cook pudding rice in water until all the water has been absorbed then you mix in some fruit and a yogurt. The original recipe is to eat it warm straight after cooking it but I have it cold for 2 reasons......firstly I find warm yogurt a bit yukky! and secondly, I don't have time to cook it in the morning.

    I find that things like Quorn sausages and potatoe cakes can be cooked in batches and store well in the fridge. Ideal for packed lunches or when the munchies happen while getting dinner ready.

    My husband has in his packed lunch 4 cold quorn sausages and tomatoe sauce + lots of fruit.
  • Hi everyone! Newbie alert!
    Ive been following this thread all week and everyone seems so nice (and yes slightly mad so I should fit in!)
    I started back at group last week and my 1st weigh in was on tuesday and I lost 1lb, im trying not to be gutted tho because I have already lost a stone before I started group so i figure im already like 5 weeks in :-) well im going to tell myself that!

    Quick foodie question...
    I used to cook chicken soup in my slowcooker (whole chicken, herbs, onions and potatoes) fish out the bones and skin at the end and blitz. If i do this now would I have to remove the skin before or after cooking it because I use all the stock/juices in the soup.

    hi ,its day 3 for me today and I took the plunge and joined up for online membership :j.

    I want to run something by you guys please .

    I have in the kitchen some whey protein powder that I got from tescos a while ago (it was next to the atkins bars) .

    This stuff seems too good to be true , I have used it for ages now to make milkshakes (with water) to add to cheese cakes for flavour, to add to yogurts to make a - angel delight type of dessert.

    Now heres the good part (If my calculations are correct)
    It works out as under 1 syn per tablespoon (5g).
    It tastes lovely , and comes in many different flavours ...
    chocolate, strawberry,banana and vanilla.

    can someone pls tell me if my calculations are correct pls ,
    it comes in a 400g tub.

    per 100g

    kcals = 362
    carbs = trace
    protein= 87g
    fat = trace

    I believe this works out at less than 1 syn per table spoon:).
    Kindness costs nothing :)
