    Thanks all for the suggestions!
I am guilty of being a bit of a creature of habit with what I cook which means we often end up eating a lot of chilli, roast chicken made into currys/chow mein the next night and sausages - which mostly do as hot dogs!
Liking the idea of meatballs and also cottage pie - good plans! This will be tonight or tomorrows job :)

I keep thinking BTL/doing up properties could be a good little aside from f/t job as a money maker and just something else to fall back on if I ever wanted/needed to - but the more Ive spent the last couple of months doing it the less of a good idea it seems! Remind me how long decorating has taken next time I suggest doing it! :rotfl:

No other big news, listed a couple of books on amazon, have a few cds/dvds I may see if I can take to CEX or equivalent but doubt the lot would be more than a few quid to be honest!

Plan for tonight- meal plan for the next 3 weeks ....am trying to eek out what we already have and not spend anymore money- we shall see how that goes!

Hope everyone has had a good sunday

Congrats on all the decorating, will definitely be worth it when your shiny new looking flat sells for over the asking price in a few days! (That is a bit of visualisation for you ;))

I've made a minced meat curry with peas in the slow cooker, which was well received, and also made stuffed marrows with meat and rice nom nom, although is a bit early for marrows as our courgettes haven't started coming up. Moussaka is another idea...

Re: cd's we just received our cheque from MMagpie, was super easy to check value, they sent the pre-paid label, and we got most of what we were expecting (seeing as OH's cds are quite often scratched, I was pleasantly surprised!).
    Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89
    OPs 2011-2016 = £45K 2017 OPs = £9250.20
  • Hey mw
Good to see you - hope youre doing okay? :)
Thanks muchly for the visualisation I like that idea a lot! :rotfl:
Decided on sheperds pie in the end, enough for tonight and 3 more portions in the freezer!
Next month will be sure to vary my food shop slightly more and cook different things! - hadnt thought of stuffed courgettes/peppers- mmmmm that sounds yummy actually!

Will look into mm for cds though a few of them are new-ish so will check what they might go for on amazon...

No other money making schemes up my sleaves other than going to work- how did it get to Monday so quick??...

Hi TYO, I have taken your challenge, i hope that I can get the decorating bug that you have got. It all sounds like it is going very well. I am with you on the btl, as soon as I have to do any work on my house or flat I am thrilled I DO NOT have a btl property.

Sausage goulash is delicious and one of my cheap and cheerful staples, makes boring old sausages more interesting. Let me know if you want the recipe.
  • Hey toots
Youre on for the challenge!! Much of the credit for decorating goes to mrtyo he has been much more disciplined than me! ;) However as a team effort we've not done too bad and Ive pitched in on the painting and cleaning part! It definitely makes me think twice about the amount of work Id be willing to do on a property (on top of f/t work that is) as I realise now how much I value evenings and weekends of doing not an awful lot! or at least doing things I choose to do!
Still-it is good experience and is actually a lovely sense of achievement to see what it is turning into and it is gonna look lovely when all done and finished!
Recipie sounds yum- yes please if you could pass it on- always on the look out for new additions!

Holiday booked and paid for - yay! now just for spending money which will come out of next months pay , may get some kind of pay rise in July too- not sure what this will work out to but every little helps!

Have told mrtyo once the Mortgage is all paid off we will both be able to retire! I think as neither of us are 30 yet he quite likes that idea ! :rotfl:

    Have a good day all

I've told my BF once my mortgage is paid off I'm going to retire and then sponge of him for the rest of my life, he agreed as well

Do you want to come to my house and finish off some painting? pretty please

Sausage goulash I'm intrigued, if its a bung it all in a pot and chuck in the oven recipe sounds like something I could do
    Mortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0
    ISA challenge start 2019 £3000/£1500 (50%)
  • Ooooo well done Radish for getting him to agree to that!! :rotfl: thinks I shall have to have words and see if mrtyo will agree....
Tempted as I am to agree to yet more decorating I may have to decline the offer of painting yours as well - I can send good decorating vibes your way via cyberspace tho! ;)
  • Afternoon all!
Had a productive ish weekend - mainly on the non-spending and food front!
Have been running on empty a bit this week so after going to bed near enough midnight on Friday night slept in till after 1pm yesterday!!:eek:

Getting old and clearly cant handle it anymore! ;)
Upside of that was yesterday became a NSD as didnt do much other than watch some of the dvds we are still ploughing through from our xmas collection!

Everything in the rennovation/decorating plan is now paid for- just need to get accross there this week to strip /paint lining paper in the bedroom and meet the carpet fitter- then a couple of boy jobs left for mrtyo and we should be all set to go! It will be such a relief to get it done and then I will feel I have my evenings and weekends back without feeling I *should* be over there doing something!

So far have had toasties with the last of the bread and tuna from the cupboards, Made pizza from leftovers in the fridge (including a chilli which in hindsight was not the best idea as mrtyo was very surprised and not best pleased to find it! :p) perhaps a case of taking "waste not want not" a bit too far!....

Got some bargins in mr t's this afternoon including 24 rolls, 2 loaves of bread and some scotch pancakes for the grand total of £1.20 and have aload of chilli/sheperds pie still in freezer to feed us till payday!

Also got a couple of great things off the grabbit board including a free running magazine (all part of the new fittness plan!) and a free "detox your finances" book from MSE , happy to pass onto anyone interested once Ive read it!

Hope everyone is well and having a good sunday!

    Evening all!
    Glad its the weekend :)
Am chilling with a cuppa, a dvd Ive borrowed but not watched and some leftover chilli for dinner (done 3 meals so far!)

On the money front looking forward to payday in 5 days time!! Have about £25 topcashback waiting to clear , £10 for a sale on amazon which will need posting in the morning and £80ish in expenses which should come mid july!

decorating almost done which for the whole place comes in at about £3100 , not bad considering that is painting 3 rooms, new bathroom and new flooring everywhere! Lots of work though!

Counting the sleeps till holiday (there are quite a lot tho!) have about £200 spending money at the moment to cover all lunches and a few nights dinners, plus anything else we want to do for a week!

Its been an expensive few months with all the decorating, wedding celebrations, we have also got a new car in the pipeline! £120 ish towards it for scrapping the old one ...

Am hoping end of july will be when we break even abit and can start back on the savings/OPing waggon! just need my flat to sell and then will be mortgage free :rotfl:(for a little while anyway!...)

Trying to do a cheap online shop for next month have found a £10 off code for a tesco online delivery, trying to figure out some more cheap meals I can stretch - so far am master of mince!- (chilli, spag bol, sheperds pie, ) chicken (roast, curry, chowmein, fajitas) and thats about it!! was thinking of buying some beef for steaks, thai something-or-other and maybe some casserole/stew of some kind! What other things do people find help stretch out the food shopping?
