  • Well I am definitely not going to be a property renovator....much harder than it looks on the tv!!! :rotfl:
Hoping to have everything finished and turned around within the next month or so
    Left to pay:
    Bathroom fitting
    New carpets

Then just need to clean and paint!...

Ah well, off for a cuppa and a bath before getting back on with it! :)

Everything seems to take ages as well, or that could just be me as I did fall asleep painting a skirting board, knew I shouldn't have laid down to do it :)
    Mortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0
    ISA challenge start 2019 £3000/£1500 (50%)
  • Radish- hehe!! :rotfl: I will try not to fall asleep whilst painting- if it was anywhere near the state I could start painting that would be a good start, still needs quite a bit of cleaning the walls etc to even be in a state to paint!! ...

Hope everyone enjoyed the royal wedding this morning! mrtyo watched it under duress! ;)

    Monthly update - drumroll please.....

    Mortgage-Savings = £120243.23

Oooooo now where can I find £250 to get it under 120K :rotfl:

Off to see if I can persuade mrtyo to eat cake and sip something bubbly in celebration of the royals getting married- I do love a good wedding! ;)

    have a great weekend all

I'm home alone still in my pjs. Although I did briefly get changed to scrub the yard and I'm on my 3 lots of washing. My washing machine is wondering whats going on. There are parties going on amongst some of my friends but I've not been invited to anything so I'm just waiting for 7 pm to roll round so I can watch Dr Who. I might do some house hunting as well...even though we aren't moving! ha ha

    Mornin all
Property "renovation" much harder than it looks (mrtyo reminds me I am more in the mindset of 60 minute makeover than grand designs!) clearly I have been lured into the tv "makover" dream too much!!
Still- a productive day yesterday , bathroom should be finished in the next few days and then just need to clean, paint and get flooring sorted!
Am hoping to have it done by mid may but possibly a bit optimistic - end of may at the latest tho!

Had a big sort out of ours cupboards today and we have enough rice, pasta and tins of things to survive a nuclear winter!! Have sorted into slightly more co-ordinated chaos so I stop buying things and can plan meals around what we've already got!!!

Other than that no more moneysaving news - cant wait for all the decorating to be done though lots of little fiddly bits and cleaning is taking forever!

Free lunch at family today then might have a bit of an afternoon off all the cleaning etc (then again its not going to get done quickly this way eh!)

Still almost a stone to lose... think I started off the year 10lb higher so going in the wrong direction so far!... so have stashed a lot of the chocolate away so I dont eat it everytime I go to the kitchen! Also may drag exercise bike out later or go for a walk in this lovley sunshine!!

The cleaning bit is physically more demanding so if you do that it all counts for calorie burning. :D Just trying to motivate. :)

I'm so jealous. My house is awful, it still has no paper or fire place in the living room, the kitchen is awful (units in but have no handles, cooker is a million years old, colours awful and ceiling is still broken, bath is still not plumed in and tiling still needs doing, ceiling needs sorting etc). Unfortunately Mr T is a control freak, and I don't really have the time, energy or skill for the jobs that need doing. We've been like this since about 2006. It's very depressing. :(

Well I'd argue we've been like that since 2005 when I first moved in (it was erm....very basic when I moved in). We've also got paint work to address in every room and carpets etc and decorating of the stairs etc to address. Nightmare. God I hate this house.

oh my word twinkle, sounds awful, you need diy sos.

I am useless at DIY and I am by myself so would have to pay someone to do it anyway. I hate painting, especially after I start it and know then I cant stop and leave it lol. As for cleaning and stuff I try and get away with a little as poss lol. If I have to get my house up and ready for sale there will be a lot of work to do and cleaning galore!! grrr. This is where I wish I wasnt on my own to deal with it all.

Well our problem is that DH lives in Wales Mon - Friday and usually has to sort things etc at the weekend. The house has just been completely ignored. We can't afford to pay for anyone to do anything. We did try paying a family member a very low rate to help us out but he kept not turning up or doing what he wanted how he wanted rather than what we asked. Sooooo we stopped that because it was causing more stress than not.

An example of time issues are that DH only got back from Wales at 7.30 pm last night because he had work to do down there. Then today he's doing his CBT so won't get back till 4pm. And so tomorrow we have to drive to Halifax to pick up DHs new scooter....that's pretty much the weekend over! Doh! Tonight will be cleaning and sorting the yard ready for the arrival of the scooter, not to mention that DH is DJing tonight as well. Once again...no work done on the house. DoH!
