There are loads of cheap online places for ordering contacts. Providing you've worn them before and have an upto date prescription then doing that is fine. I used to work at an Optometrists so I know these things.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Thanks all for the welcomes. Once ive done some digging ill get back to you about the making stuff at home milarky and with my customer base already at 1 for coconut soap i reckon im onto a winner! Im not a huge fan of jam so prob wont go down that route, but am sure i can come up with something else to compensate!0

Make it 2...I'll have some coconut soap. It's make me feel like I'm exotic rather than the pasty white and withered little thing I really am. Ha haReduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Woohoo looks like the soap making will be another good moneymaking scheme! :rotfl:
In MSE news so far today..
fiver in the house fund box! This was from money taken out for friends bday last night and not spend so better in there than burning a hole in my pocket!
£15 amazon voucher recieved thru lovefilm - and spent on stuff I was gonna buy anyway!
TBC money of a grand total of £1.76 came thru
Bday present for myself bought using £10 off amazon code!-much cheaper than it wouldve been on the high street too!
Chilli and jacket spuds cooking in the oven all from what we had in, trifle made and roast ready for tomorrow for the inlaws and outlaws (if thats the opposite of inlaws!) round- again all from stuff in cupboards/freezer!
(did have to do little top up shop for a couple of extra things for the week but we will be stocked up on freezer meals for next month so should recoup it that way!)...
Not doing massively well at impulse spending at the mo- most goes on rubbish like chocolate and drinks at work despite my best efforts! Its more feeling "justified "in buying something little rather than clothes etc.. but leading I think to a bit of a waste of money!
Im sure Ive asked for top tips before to stop spending (maybe not taking my wallet to work would be a start?) as Id much rather spend my money on clothes/books/fun things than fifty cans of drink or chocolate bars! (actually thats quite shocking thinking of it like that! :rotfl:)
Hopefully will be able to go on a mini shopping spree soon tho once bathroom all sorted and paid for and on holiday for a week- yay!!0 -
Have a look at the Demotivator tool on here, its shows you how many hours you have to work to pay off something
I worked out that I spent over a year £180 on buying coffee at work, so now I make my own which prob cost about £40/year
Also put a picture of a big house in your purse, but also don't beat yourself up about spending a bit of money, life has to be funMortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0

Hey Radish
Have printed off the demotivator (and dont worry already have a pic of a house in my purse infront of my cards!!!) :rotfl:
Buying chocolate/cans of drink on my lunch break is the biggie so am gonna try for next month to add it into shopping budget then not take any money out!
Thought I would do an updated SOA to keep myself motivated and see if there is anything Im missing!

So- that gives me £35 a month extra at the moment over and above £415 OPs/savings ....
Am gonna keep that at the mo in the instance that food shops remain higher and it gets swallowed up by that!
Looking at the figures have paid off 22K in the 4 years Ive had the mortgage so not all bad!
Next plan is to lose a stone to fit back into all my lovely clothes which at the moment Im struggling to wear! MSE and healthy at the same time :rotfl:0 -
You have been busy, I've never been brave enough to fill in a SOA, maybe when we get a house together it will be a good thing to do, along with the house picture made into a 100 piece jigsaw
Plus 22K in 4 years is a HUGE amount to have paid off :TMortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0

So thats what she was tapping away at tonight!!! In case people think she is evading tv licence etc she isnt, we live in my flat and i pay for all the rates etc here! Ill let her do one for me once we have got rid of her flat!!!
Just to update people i think the soap making business may not be a money saver, Looking at the material costs (for non trade etc), posting etc doesnt work out as cheap as you can buy, so sorry to dissapoint you all! Looks like you can buy some kits to make your own coconut soap/recipies, but i think when you factor in the messing around etc it works out cheaper and easier to buy direct. im sure i will figure out some other money saving scheme and let you all know!0 -
Thanks Radish
find its good to keep me motivated!!
dont worry mrtyo am more than happy to add all the numbers together- you know how much I like playing with numbers and spreadsheets!!:rotfl:
right- off to work to pay the mortgage
hope everyone has a good monday
4 more sleeps till holiday- yay!!!0 -
Hi Mr TYO,
Poor show. When you factor in the necessity to fly to Hawaii (via Vegas of course), you're surely able to beat my current projected cost for coconut soap!? One of Moyra's friends got married to a Kiwi on Saturday and their plan is to eventually move to Fiji so I'll get my proper gear from them in time but you were looking like a good interim option for a minute there.
Cheers,
